    I like Charlottes mindset. It’s urban but not ratchet. It’s like the brother city to Dallas like ATL is to Houston. People work, play and mind their business

    I have been hearing that Houston is the new Black Mecca. Many Black people are deciding not to move to Atlanta and move to Houston and Dallas. I didn't know Charlotte was becoming a Black Mecca. I just hope it doesn't become like Atlanta or other cities in the past like Gary,Indiana or Detroit.

      The black population in Texas is 15% in order for anything to be a Mecca a state population of Black people must be 30 to 20 or 40% Houston ain’t it
      It’s obvious you are an older black person babbling about northern cities were Black people ran to
      the difference is that Black people are the borderline the majority across southern central Eastern Georgia unlike in the Midwest/north/west where blacks have been redlined and historically have not been there.
      The south is reverse. The different is black Americans have always been historically here for 500 years therefore, we control the politics /land and economics theirs the difference.

      Houston average rent is $350 cheaper than Charlotte and has a stronger Black nightlife scene and culture. Also Houston has no income tax which is great for renters looking to save. Houston is winning for a reason.

      Texas will never be a black Mecca, because black Americans are only 15% of Texas population 🥴🥴,
      While Georgia/North Carolina are 30-38% black state wide !!!

    I grew up in the area (45 miles to the west) and have always loved Charlotte. Growing up in the 60s and 70s, Charlotte was the big city to us. On my 2nd go round in Charlotte (lived here in the 80s). Moved out of state for awhile, then moved back to the hometown for 6 years and then moved back in Charlotte (19 years and counting). Even though I'm planning to move back to the hometown after retirement, I'm sure that I'll still be over in Charlotte a lot.

    Charlotte, Raleigh area and Huntsville, Alabama are on my radar to move to and live. I grew up in Atlanta and the city has become so crowded and the highways are congested. Charlotte is a beautiful city. I really fell in love with the city in 2018 when I first visited during the CIAA tournament. My friend and I were driving Lyft around the city trying to make some money. I really enjoyed the city. Since then I have visited Charlotte damn near twelve times since then. I have been to a lot of the places there.

      I’d rank Charlotte over DFW and I’m a native Texan. Charlotte’s Black culture is more visible and apart of the cities identity than DFW’s Black culture which often times feel isolated and spread out especially considering it has a Black population of 1.2 million. I’d rank Houston 3rd behind Atlanta and D.C. tho.

    • @bishoptatum8737
      @bishoptatum8737 Před rokem +1

      @@WilConquer you’re right there’s no equivalent to the best Southwest area in Charlotte but that’s also due to how both cities were built. The Best Southwest experienced a population boom in the late 80s into the 90s w/ Black Dallasites moving out the city into the suburbs. Around that time most Black Charlotteans heavily resides in the city limits so as you can see their presence is stronger and influential in the make up of the city.
      The Best Southwest on the other hand is an extension of an already isolated community that lived in Dallas. It’s a cluster of suburban communities cut off by the economic boom of DFW. So because of that cut off the Black populace feels less visible of the make up of Dallas. And since Dallas is the principle city of the entire metroplex, if you don’t have a cultural foothold in the principle city than your influence and contributions will feel insignificant or invisible.
      The great Southwest and suburbs like Arlington/ Grand Prairie/ Mansfield have a good mix of affluent and middle class Black families and individuals but again these communities feel cutoff and spread across unlike what’s in Charlotte.
      Just my opinion. Btw I live in Houston but been visiting and staying in Dallas since I was a child. I’m almost 40 now.
