    Carrabassett is great and Freeman Ridge Bike Park is nearby and is totally worth stopping by for a shorter ride on really well-built trails as well!
    And in Maine, the ski season is a similar length to the MTB season.

    Hey!
    @BKXC
    I see you are often with your phone in hand trying to figure out where the trail is.
    The most convenient I've found so far is a Garmin Vivoactive 3 watch (or equivalent :) ) with the "DW Map" app.
    On top of tracking my ride and health data, It also allows me to build a route in trailforks and then upload it to my watch.
    It's super useful!
    Just a quick look at my wrist and I can see the route and instantly know whether I should turn left, right or if I just drifted away from my planned route.
    Cheers!

    Sugarloaf is open about 5.5-6 month a year. Also, people on bikes are almost always able to also pedal uphill, skiing (unless you have specialized equipment) is pretty much downhill only. Makes people less inclined to pay $100+ for a lift ticket if they can just pedal themselves up another trail system.

    Hardcore snowboarder here. I agree many ski kills can be used as dual purpose, the problem is the costs. as you touched on the development and operating costs. 1, insurance is some states for bike parks costs as much or more than for skiing/snowboarding. Not sure why. I think it is liability related. Then you need to develop the trails and other infrastructure. So you can make your money back on that. Plus regular operating costs, utilities , staff. Your ticket cost approach that of ski lift ticket. Why would pay $40, $50, or $100 when you can ride next to the same hill for free? There is place in NY state, you pedal up the top and ride right next to the skill trails. cost $0. if you have enough of population base to support the cost, it can work. Like killington. maybe next summer i might it.
