His explanations are so logical, so analytical, so obvious and I don't feel like the only person who thinks as I do after listening to him on this as well as his 10 min. comedy routine from 1987 which I've watched like 5 times and it's still funny. I truly enjoy listening to him express and explain how music is continuously intertwined in our lives. He's truly a modern day philosopher and I'm sure he even knows it himself. Thank you so much. Thank Arlo so much for me.

I was blessed to see Arlo in concert in Sarasota Florida about 20 years ago or a little more and it was the best thing I've ever seen he is fantastic. I had just finished reading the book about his father called a life. If you haven't read it you should.. someday I will get ahold of that book and read it again.

Many thanks for this. I have been watching the film Alice's Restaurant by tradition every year on the evening before Thanksgiving for the last 30+ years. I am from New York City and being in high school during the height of the Vietnam War the film has special relevance to me and is pure autumn. By the way... from 1970 to 1975 I worked at a Bohacks Supermarket in Bayside Queens, NYC. The name of my store manager was Barney Vitrano and we were very close. The day he was transferred we both had a good cry. He lived in Valley Stream, Long Island New York. If you Mr. Vitrano are related to him with even one drop of blood your a good good man!

Great recent interview. Arlo and Jackie raised their family just outside Stockbridge, MA. They also bought the church from Alice's Restaurant. He does a concert every other year in Keene, NH and sometimes Brattleboro, VT. He was the first concert that I brought each of daughters to, and my 9 year granddaughter has been to 4. I love the small venues.
We need Arlo this year in full fledged mode aw well as everyone else who respects the US Constitution.

My wife and her best friend saw this wonderful human being in the wealthy city of Naples Florida.
THE BARBARA B . MANN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER .
They were in her friends orange and white micro bus .
Having donned thier Tie - Dies (Every day wear for them ) and parked amongst all the Porsches , and BMWs , and Mercedes Benz .
The other attendees wore suits and posh high fashion modern dresses .
Well after the show our man Arlo politely made his way through the nice normal folks , and in the parking lot he landed on our 2 real deal hippie movement rejects . Ha ha .
He ended up shooting the breeze with them for awhile and even autographed my lady's big green clog/heel phsycodelic shoe !!!
Some weeks later we recieved a letter in the mail . It was an invitation to go to that wonderful church in Massachusetts .
Yes ! We were invited to share Thanksgiving dinner with his family !!! 100 % Gods honest truth !!!
Well , we were just about at the bottom of the state of Florida .
We had 3 amazing young children and were living off of my lifelong occupation in bartending .
Our old van (not the micro - bus ) would have been a crap - shoot at best to make the trip to Massachusetts and back .
It takes almost a darn day of driving , just to get outta Florida from here .
We wanted to go soooooooooo badly we could taste it !!!
Wewanted our family to experience the love and good times of such beautiful people and culture .
We raised our children with that kind of love and freedom and actually lived that way back when they were born and raised in the early 90s . We were 60s born and saw things were in need of good things all around .
    Well ...
To this very day , every time something makes me think about all of the stupendous things about this man and those delightful days , I regret it deeply and ever so sadly , that we missed an opportunity for that thanksgiving with the family (All his people are surely family ) of A . G .
Although to this very day my children have grown up and had children . Yup I'm a grandpa now .
And I think the coolest thing in the world was while sitting on the back porch of my wife's hippie - hand - made - peace - shop .
3 (three) generations of my family and especially the grand kids , were all tapping their feet , lightly , easily bobbing thier heads , and trying to sing along with Alice's Restaurant !!!!
    Tears of joy ?
And happiness , and a perfect peace in knowing , that if and when life hurls misfortunes and disasters our way , we all have the love and passion to give them a helluva good fight.
Thanks for reading my rambling on about this .
    And remember ...
3 generations touched and influenced by this music !!!
    Fondest regards . Matthew .

What an inspirational post! Thank you.
When you mentioned three generations of your family, all touched by one experience, it struck me hard.
My family never managed harmony as a kid. Long story short, I never even experienced two generations together in harmony.
Well, half a century, my wife & I, both lost souls as tiny children, found ourselves together & with our children & their children. Three generations in harmony. And these globalist bastards have broken everything, forcing us apart just as effectively as a military draft.
Assuming any of those following generations survive to converse in the distant future when I’ll be gone, I hope they’ll recall they were blessed to be part of a multi generational family in harmony, albeit so briefly.

1968 or 69. The Second Fret Coffee House in Philadelphia. My girlfriend and I drop-in out of curiosity because this evening’s performer is Woody Guthrie’s son.
As we enter, I immediately head to the men’s room because I am in my prime-time beer-drinking days.
Inside the graffiti-adorned john, a tall, skinny, scraggly-dressed dude offers me a hit on his massive blunt, the size of a Cuban cigar.
I politely decline since I am a devout, Midwestern beer-drinker and I do not want anything interfering with my religious pilgrimage thus far that day.
I return to my girl at our table when this very same, generous bong-head shyly takes the stage. After a few tunes, he performs Alice’s Restaurant before it has yet to reach the airways and make him famous.
    Good times.
