  • i hope you enjoy this video. This is my first book review. i hope to utilise this book review to complete an Afrika Korps diorama centering on my AEC armoured command car. I hope to be completing this when i have the necessary skills to do it the justice it deserves in a bout 10 years time. I have a model collection/stash of 33-40 1/72 Spitfires which i am currently building badly for the amusement or to the annoyance of my fellow CZcamsrs, As my competence levels are not sufficient to complete this model it will be held in reserve for when i deem the time is right. If you would like to see the of 33 Spitfires there is a link to my collection below. As a novice modeller my intention is to learn the various assembly techniques and skills required, especially that of painting, so as i can produce half decent looking models, I concluded the best way to do this is to start with something simple, personally i think the best way to learn a new skill is repetition; try, try and try again. Hopefully by completing these 33 Spitfire models i will learn a few tricks of the trade. Whilst doing this I am also hoping to improve my VERY basic CZcams skills, so far just uploading these videos has resulted in tantrums of titanic proportions, yes unfortunately i am also techno-phobic.

Henry Ford built a car factory for Hitler. He loved the mustache man. He even received compensation from the US from it being bombed.

Excellent book, hopefully mine gets delivered this week. The Germans captured many Fords as France had massive Ford Plants. I believe Ford of France was founded in 1916, and they would later have the first in Bordeaux, later near Paris, another newer plant in Strasbourg (online I think by1937 and Poissy which came just online in 1940. Cheers! Edit: Oh yeah Germany basically copied the designs I believe for their Cologne Ford Plant.

Also at 19:45, the Pz II in upper right RA$ would have been most likely the Regimental Medical Officer. However, I am sure it is described in the description below the picture. Bruce Culver has 3 great books that describe all the different types of Tactical Markings and pennant flags. "Panzer Colors I, II, and III." Also on page 69 20:40 lower right Pz J, you can see the use of "Tropen Camouflage" or the Tropical Camouflage that began in 1942. Even the Tiger Tanks were painted in Tropen camo after they arrived in Tunis. However, it is extremely hard to see in the Black and White photos

Juergen you really are knowledgeable on this subject, wish i had half the knowledge stored in my brain that you seem to have, would make Youtubing this subject so much easier. It really is a good book and AK interactive do something similar for most theaters of operations. My main interest is The African Campaign i will be looking to get hold of a few more in the future. the only other i have is "AK Beginners Guide to Modelling" which is kind of handy for me LOL, will probably do a similar vid on this also.
      Thanks again for watching

@@TheNoviceModeller My pleasure, your videos are great! I have gotten back into modeling after a 14-year hiatus. However, I have been a student, and armchair historian of WWII since I was around 12 (reading Time Life Series in the Library) now 54 my Book Collection is around 185..LOL That being said the North African Theatre was very fascinating to me... the back and forth of the Campaign., Malta the thorn in the Axis side, and the terrible conditions in North Africa. Tunis must have been a bit more Temperate I would think. Anyway, I have been building up a massive North African Collection to display. x2 Pz III J's, x2 Spw 251/1, Sdkfz 11 with a 10.5cm (105mm)Howitzer (North Africa)x2 Kubels 1 for the Ramcke Brigade, the other for the Artillery Battalion, hence the Sdkfz 11. x1 Tiger, x1 Opel blitz, x1 Kfz.12 Horch, x1 SPW 221 Radio, x1 SPW 222 and 2 BMW bikes.. LOL, all for my North Africa Builds. So it was awesome to see another so motivated for their North Africa Diorama and builds. During my service in the USMC, the Armored unit (Reserve) used the African Palm with the Eagle Globe and Anchor much like the Germans. Bravo Company 4th Marine Battalion.

Hello again JuergenGDB, Thanks for your kind words and i am honored to converse with a USMC vet. I am enjoying this CZcams malarkey far more than i anticipated and the response has been quite baffling as i honestly expected perhaps a few hundred views per week, if i was lucky. The models i have so far "whats in the boxed" are just the tip of the iceberg, i shamelessly binged on buying models before i even opened a tube of glue. I call them "my inspiration for improvement collection". My interest in The North African Campaign i think can be mainly attributed to my Granddad, who served in Palestine before and for a few months after the war and was present in North Africa for the duration, including the 1941 Siege of Tobruck. Unfortunately what little he told me has now been lost to the sands of time. My collection also includes a fair number of British kits and my original intention was to build perhaps some sort of fortification, first possessed by the Italians, then British, Germans, British again etc etc, like you quite rightly observed "the back and forth of the campaign" but this is beyond me as the scale and cost of such an endeavor would be huge so the AEC Dorchester is hopefully and eventually a do-able alternative. Any way good luck with your builds i look forward to chatting again sometime, unfortunately i have to go unpack my painting hurdy gurdy (airbrush) and try to figure out where the on switch is before covering myself in Tamiya acrylics.
      Be seeing you
      andy.

Hello there Graeme, i'm going to say no, but TBH not a definitive no, had a look at a few still photo's and the window configuration looks different, but that really is not a very accurate way of checking. i may have a re-run of the film and have a look, Iactually have the Roden 1/35 of the both of the buses featured in the book, will do a vid on them at some point
