42 years later at the whiskey a go go Back with Atlantic records Black Oak Arkansas new single: Plug in and wired special guest, laurie sidis from lynette skynyrd
Look folks, we ALL get old. If you're not a musician then you just don't/can't get it. Who cares if they look their age? They obviously still have the desire to perform and I say God bless 'em! Keep rockin' boys. I will gladly spend my hard earned money to come and enjoy your music.
Nicely put Jeff..And Jim Dandy is a great person! I met him he was having some really hard times over the years but he was still very positive about life!
I got to see BOA in 1973 in Las Cruces NM, at the Pan American Center, when I was 15 or 16 and they lived up to "Raunch and Roll"! One of the memorable concerts!
There is a vibe going on right there, I can truly dig it. Strong solid new tune. I like it. Very catchy groove and lyrics. Doooowwwnnnntowwwn.....Plugged In and Wiiiiiiiirrrrrreeeerrrrddd. God bless.
the gorgeous body is getting old, and it shows but he he still Jim with that great voice, I am 61 and can look on you tube at that bod anytime and do keep rocking Jim xx
They ain't what they used to be? No. I think they're only one of whom they used to be - the Singer and he may well be more than one at his size. Don't see any other original members though I may be wrong.
Oh my lord, seen them back in 73 in Toledo Ohio Ruby Starrs hometown and mine. They were huge then one of the biggest bands in the world, I have lost my taste for this kinda Rock but I guess more power to them if they want to go on as old rock stars but yowza!!
BOA put out a new record in 2013? How come I never heard anything about it on any of the music websites? It's like it came and went, and nobody noticed.
That's not very nice...it doesn't cost you anything to be polite...in fact, I remember my parents telling me, 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't sat anything'... People like you are what is wrong with CZcams...sad.
According to the description below the video, they're signed to Atlantic Records. I never heard anything about them getting signed to a major label and putting a new album out. I don't think this band ever even had a gold record. Kind of surprising Atlantic would roll the dice on a 70's southern rock band that never made much of a dent -- especially one that had been broken up for so long prior to now.
Headlining arenas in the 70’s with opening acts such as Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith and The Eagles, BOA destroyed over 1000 stages from 72-76. They became one of the Top 5 touring acts in rock, earned 3 Gold albums, sold close to 5 million records, and became the largest private landowners in Arkansas. They gave millions to Arkansas charities and gave then-Attorney General Bill Clinton and wife Hillary their first limo ride. I have an old BOA concert poster and at the very bottom in small letters it says with special guest Lynyrd Skynyrd.
+Terry Licia I seen them twice in the mid seventies and they were quite unbelievable . Of course thats when rock and roll was relevant. These days there's more oldies station's than ever because the music today is CRAP!
+6672rock Your 1 of the biggest idiots out there, they were HUGE in the early to mid 1970's. When I saw them in 76 they were still headlining arena's .
That was hard to watch, I saw them in North Carolina in the early 70's. The bounce and wiggle is now slosh and sluggish. Getting old sucks.............
I saw them at the Dallas alley in 88 they did Sympathy for the Devil and Jim Dandy like an ass gave the thumbs down to the young drummer he had hired, that is not professional
Damian Crudden I probably should have clarified something in my last comment. What I meant is that the drugs they used to take have now been traded in for blood pressure, cholesterol, heart meds ect.
+Whozat Outdere you obviously dont know shit..... find out who that guitarist is before you shoot your mouth off..... he is the who's who of southern rock guitarist....
Oh God...at some point it is waaaaaay too late to reassemble. This is laughable. I give them props for trying but let's be honest folks...this is hard to watch. They should have left their legacy where it was.
mulehead126 what legacy..?? Were you born yesterday? They played the first Cal Jam and Tore It Up,they were big in the 70s and played sold out arenas and many festivals, the oringinal drummer Tommy Aldridge is a legend by himself..well known and respected..he played with Ozzy after Ozzy and Sharon screwed Lee Kerslake (and Bob Daisley)..so yes..Legacy
I am proud to say that I have aged a few years behind Jim Dandy and crew. Saw them at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces NM, in 1973, when I was 14! Rock on, Jim Dandy Magnum!!!🤠🎸
saw them in San Antonio and Evansville , Indiana in 74, 76 long hair and t-shirts and a helluva' show everytime ... Go Jim Dandy Go! True rock and rollers !!
jammko1970 that's not entirely accurate. Jimmy borrowed from Elvis, I borrowed from everybody. I even done some shit nobody's done before or since. Chuck Berry said there's nothing new under the sun...
Black Oak Arkansas was A Legend once upon a time....l mids Seeing Tommy Aldridge... Well...with BOA !?! He's still Kicking Ass...Met Jim Dandy once w/ Alvin Lee and 10 yrs after ... They were the Coolest Dudes you,d ever wants meet Hope they all KEEP ROCKING ! ROCK ON..
Now the newbies know who inspired DLR.........I saw these folk many times, just a good ol' rock-n-roll southern hippie band.........spent all their money on a commune to live in.....almost well did make it work for a few years.....I don't know how young Tommy Aldridge was when he started drumming for these guys but he has played with a bunch of the best band in rock.... Pat Travers Band, Ozzy Osbourne, Gary Moore, Whitesnake, Ted Nugent, Thin Lizzy, Vinnie Moore and Yngwie Malmsteen.............lol @ ol' Jimmy Dandie.......huge mouth to unleash those huge pipes......thanks for putting up this video,,,,,glad I stumbled across it this am...........made me smile!!!
they are the only old band whose new LP is better than anything they did at their peak - this is the killer song on it! Jim Dandy should put his tights back on and get the washboard out.... from the UK's no. 1 BOA fan!
I agree. This album is STRONG, they wrote their best music ever for it, and the old unheard tracks are pretty damn great! NO ONE else has it after all these years, but they do!
FYI...the core members been playing and performing together for years non-stop. I saw them 10 years ago in a small club and though they aren't the group they were in the 70's...you could tell they still love to play.....and for sure not for the money! ( which is kind of a joke to travel and play for 200 people or less...what money?? ) Jim Dandy tells lots of stories in between songs and you can tell that this is the real deal for him and the other guys. Two thumbs up to the originals! Look at David Lee Roth who totally ripped Jim Dandy off now... he's a sad one.
Look folks, we ALL get old. If you're not a musician then you just don't/can't get it. Who cares if they look their age? They obviously still have the desire to perform and I say God bless 'em! Keep rockin' boys. I will gladly spend my hard earned money to come and enjoy your music.
Well said that man....
Nicely put Jeff..And Jim Dandy is a great person! I met him he was having some really hard times over the years but he was still very positive about life!
There's only one alternative to getting old. The "old guys" still do better rock than the new acts.
Me too !
we are from Arkansas, we dont give a fuck.
BOA! One of the greatest southern rock bands ever!
Black Oak is a must see. Don't care if you love em or hate em. You have to experience it. LOUD
One of the first 8 track tapes I ever owned. Jim Dandy to the rescue.
I got to see BOA in 1973 in Las Cruces NM, at the Pan American Center, when I was 15 or 16 and they lived up to "Raunch and Roll"!
One of the memorable concerts!
So the good old days where years ago , but BOA still have the heart and love of their soul pouring out their music gift to us .

Been a big fan for years, like 1972. Saw them in '77. Great to see them back and rockin like always
They sound great. Love it.
Master showman. Drummer wasn't ready, keeps it rolling.
Glad to see they're back together! Hoping they'll come to the Austin area!
There is a vibe going on right there, I can truly dig it. Strong solid new tune. I like it. Very catchy groove and lyrics. Doooowwwnnnntowwwn.....Plugged In and Wiiiiiiiirrrrrreeeerrrrddd. God bless.

Jim Dandy was fuckin' awesome. Butt now ... omg. Yeah, I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. No way I'd strut that stuff
I worked with him in the studio, and he was a terror!!!
the gorgeous body is getting old, and it shows but he he still Jim with that great voice, I am 61 and can look on you tube at that bod anytime and do keep rocking Jim xx

Thank you for sharing. IDNK that BOA was still around.
OK so they ain't what they used to be..who is? I'll still take them over most of the recycled b.s.out there today
They ain't what they used to be? No. I think they're only one of whom they used to be - the Singer and he may well be more than one at his size. Don't see any other original members though I may be wrong.
Classic people!! Love them!!!
Oh hell yes! Get some!!!
King George!!!
Ruby Starr 💕
There not old they are GOOD
SAW SEVERAL TIMES IN 70,S
Rest in. peace Rickochet
There's second drummer Tommy Aldridge was a double bass killer who could out smoke any Rock drummer at the time
And still does!
Put Arkansas for R&R. JD has the most distinctive voice in the music business.
Have always liked BOA
Hard to believe that Jim Dandy once did leg splits!
Good idea having a young Ruby Starr protege onstage to shake her T&A, Looking good...
Oh my lord, seen them back in 73 in Toledo Ohio Ruby Starrs hometown and mine. They were huge then one of the biggest bands in the world, I have lost my taste for this kinda Rock but I guess more power to them if they want to go on as old rock stars but yowza!!
Look at old pictures of the lead singer of BOA. Then look at David lee Roth
BOA put out a new record in 2013? How come I never heard anything about it on any of the music websites? It's like it came and went, and nobody noticed.
LMFAO 😂🤣
Go Jim dandy go
Jim Dandy should ware his old jump suit!
The first song they played, when it starts out it sounds exactly like the Beatles Hey Bulldog
oh dear!
The Devil never retires , Black Oak Arkansas still bringing Brutal Death Metal into your home
I never knew that Dog The Bounty Hunter was a frontman in a rock band? Lol
Only Two thumbs up on this one, because I only have two thumbs!......
Sure enough
Wish the volume turned up on his much to listen to him
First song's chorus is very close to " I'm a man " by Chicago
Go Jim Dandy go
What has 40 legs and 10 teeth? Front row at a BOA concert.
That's not very nice...it doesn't cost you anything to be polite...in fact, I remember my parents telling me, 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't sat anything'...
People like you are what is wrong with CZcams...sad.
mulehead126 who has no life and has never accomplished anything?..mulehead126 that's who..
mulehead126 old joke,it's been used for several country artists etc....loser

That chick and Ruby Starr no matter how she tries.
My bad Miss Tommy...
Been to 3 of their shows in Philly at the Spectrum in the 70’s , Rolling Stone called them the best live band ever . 🎵🎹🎤🥁🎸👍🤘😎👨🦳
wow jerry atricks on the loose..not very good musicians at all but i watched it and bought all the old albums way back..basicly noise music,,
According to the description below the video, they're signed to Atlantic Records. I never heard anything about them getting signed to a major label and putting a new album out. I don't think this band ever even had a gold record. Kind of surprising Atlantic would roll the dice on a 70's southern rock band that never made much of a dent -- especially one that had been broken up for so long prior to now.
YEP, THATS THEIR BRAND NEW SONG FROM A BRAND NEW ALBUM......
Steven Queen Boy, I bet that concert with Lynyrd Skynyrd was a blast!
Where is girl that screamed:"Go Jim Dandy Go!!!! Passed on?
David Lee Roth said...he got his inspiration from Mr.Jim Dandy..and he's gone...whats that say about...Jimbo...
And why the hell not? It's worked for 40 plus years, why quit now!
how come Jim Dandy has his shirt on
two words...... 36 C
i just feel bad for that potato he shoved down the front of his britches.
They just need a bigger stage.
WHERE is Tommy ???
Ricky and Jim just spend to much time at the buffet. Aside of that it's all good.
no comment
That was hard to watch, I saw them in North Carolina in the early 70's. The bounce and wiggle is now slosh and sluggish. Getting old sucks.............
They sound good to me
WHO is that whacky redhead???
Original red head was the incredible Ruby Starr.Don't know who this is.
I saw them at the Dallas alley in 88 they did Sympathy for the Devil and Jim Dandy like an ass gave the thumbs down to the young drummer he had hired, that is not professional
Did he say "the legendary Tommy Bolin"? Tommy Bolin is dead and was a guitarist, not a drummer.
johnny bolin
ALOT of front men,not just David Lee Roth, copied the great Jim Dandy.
I bet the drugs they do now aren't as good as the ones they used to do.
Tim Ballentine Promise you steak, then sell you beans and rice!
Damian Crudden I probably should have clarified something in my last comment. What I meant is that the drugs they used to take have now been traded in for blood pressure, cholesterol, heart meds ect.
+Tim Ballentine They are still alive so the former drugs got em going and the later stuff keep em going. ..
lukemanify Lol,that's right.
+Tim Ballentine
TRUE
Jim Dandy probably fired that guitar player the next day for trying to get more attention on stage than he was.
+Whozat Outdere you obviously dont know shit..... find out who that guitarist is before you shoot your mouth off..... he is the who's who of southern rock guitarist....
I still dont know who/who he is, but I know JD.
And Its HIS show!
and you actually dont know shit then... guys been with BOA for 15 years, marshall tucker, the outlaws, tora tora, artis pyle band and many others....
anytime boo ninny, anytime.... hell id fight you in a phone booth.... come to los angeles and leave your trailor park.
The kid with the yellow strat, an example of zero dedication to the song. It's like they needed daycare for him while they were busy working.
Ffs give it up.
Oh God...at some point it is waaaaaay too late to reassemble. This is laughable.
I give them props for trying but let's be honest folks...this is hard to watch. They should have left their legacy where it was.
What legacy? Are you serious?
They sound great to me

A lot of really mean folk in this world today... everyone gets old KIDS. ... and some of us DO stay young.... at heart.
I am proud to say that I have aged a few years behind Jim Dandy and crew. Saw them at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces NM, in 1973, when I was 14! Rock on, Jim Dandy Magnum!!!🤠🎸

I don't give a damn how old they are as long as they rock-- they rock! Having fun too. Maybe more fun than anything else! God Bless them!
saw them in San Antonio and Evansville , Indiana in 74, 76 long hair and t-shirts and a helluva' show everytime ... Go Jim Dandy Go! True rock and rollers !!
Black Oak Arkansas still is and will always be a great band.
It may not be the greatest music, but Jim Dandy is such a showman that it makes the whole act..
Jim Dandy a true original, great front man! David Lee Roth copied everything from Jim.
jammko1970 that's not entirely accurate. Jimmy borrowed from Elvis, I borrowed from everybody. I even done some shit nobody's done before or since. Chuck Berry said there's nothing new under the sun...
