    • @dinojay8410
      @dinojay8410 Před 3 lety +4

      Its shaped like a katana .... but a true katana lies in the steel and its forging process.
      Its the continuous folding of the steel and hammering it. Fold again and repeat. It's how the steel becomes both strong, elastic inside and hard to break ... then the slurry and quenching to harden the edges and maintain its sharpness.
      Its also why it's so expensive to buy a real katana. Of course, all of the swords made today are purely ceremonial or decorative.

    Awesome! I think the *only* way to improve on it would be using Damascus. An eye catching extreme random weird looking pattern could really play into the overall style and fit the theme of the build perfectly. Like someone had to go out and scavenge a bunch of different metal together to make one sword.

    He has definitely improved since that ill-fated rapier. It still toughens at too high a temperature, but since he temper the blade later is not such a problem. I have no problem with the way the blade came out. You could take a millimeter off each side before sanding, but that's nothing compared to that waste.
