I think your explanation about costing a guinea and their wheek being very similar to a pig is spot on, one of my girls is called piglet because she makes little grunting noises :)
my adult male wanders around grunting just like my sister's Gloucester Old Spot pigs used to when foraging around.
That's what I named my female piggy because she's the smallest than her two sisters
These piggies are so cute
Thank you Liza :)
I have 2 guinea pigs, males, and I hearing about the history and the care of the guinea pigs. Thank you God bless
that was lovely! especially the pigs in art
Thank you :) I'm glad you enjoyed the video
Thanks for this video...
I always wondered about alot of things about Guinea Pigs.. Especially, how did they survive throughout so many thousand years?
Haha they come from Peru, don't they?
Rabbits aren't rodents, but I think they're in a sister group.
Love this - very informative. ThNk you!
In Italian they are called "Porcellini d'India" (Indian piglets), because of the mistake of Columbus "Indies"
I just got two baby guinea pigs and i always watch your videos and it helps so much
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! :)
In swedish and norweigan guinea pigs are called marsvin. Mar is probably from the french word mer (means sea), and svin (means pig).
Great information and history. Love learning about these little guys that we have now as pets. Thank you for the information.
Thank you and I'm really glad you enjoyed the video :)
Excellent video. I miss my Guinea pigs. Such great little animals!
I have found it very fascinating that a cute pet has so a rich history and cultural background, they are amazing and nice to have in the family.
Great wish there was a book to keep about this knowledge and painting
Wow.that was great! I knew some but the rest was a surprise!
Glad you enjoyed the video :)
I loved this video and knowing about their.history👍👍👍👍
Thanks Monique. That was fascinating and I learned lots from watching your brilliant video. Incredible to see piggies appearing in such old paintings isn' t it? Not sure if you subscribe to Guinea Pig Magazine, but if note there was an interesting article in the most recent Jan/Feb magazine about Piggy History and Folklore which I'm sure you'd enjoy. The magazine is great if you don't know it and I always look forward to it arriving in the post! Thank you again for your lovely videos :-) Jemma x
I do have the magazine but don't always get round to reading all the articles. I'll dig it out and have another look! Glad you enjoyed the video. We have one about the guinea pig lifecycle coming up on Sunday! x
@@GuineaPiggles Thanks Monique-that sounds great. Look forward to it x :-)
Very interesting can't find much info about where they came from or wild ones.
Nice!
What amazing video!
Cool to know where the name may have come from. Thank you!! Xx
Im getting guinea pigs
This might sound really funny but right in the beginning of your video before the subscribe for more great piggy videos there's a cartoon Piggy wheeking and squeaking. We have two free roaming female piggies who are in the kitchen right behind me eating when I played the video. One girl immediately stopped eating and looked at me and the other one took off running back to the bedroom where they live. Lol.... I actually had to go back in the bedroom and get her because she wouldn't come back in the kitchen, she just stood there looking at me. I would like to ask if you could please translate with that guinea pig said right in the beginning it will be very helpful 😊
Great vid! Very interesting!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video :) Lots more on our channel and to come in the future!
Great video! Love your channel!
Thank you Sophie :)
I hate to think of them being bred for food! I love them SO much, it pains me. This was a wonderful and entertaining video, your channel is awesome!
I agree - I try not to think about it but glad you enjoyed the video! :)
Nothing wrong about it, you probably eat chicken, beef, pork and etc. They were domesticated and eaten for food just like rabbits.
