- THE EXPERIENCE
Sometimes it can be very relaxing listening to someone talking softly and calmly in a language you don't know. If you DO understand Norwegian, I hope you enjoy what I talk about. If you don't, I hope you enjoy being lulled to sleep in a soft voice, not being distracted by the content.

THE BOOK
The book I'm reading from is "Naturrigerne i den norske folketro" (The Realms of Nature in Norwegian Folklore), published in 1928. I made this without a script, so I talk more naturally than in my other videos. I read a little from different places in the book, and talk about what I read.

THE VIDEO
The visuals are from an ambience video that used to be in the Frostglow channel, but had very few views. I still liked it, so I decided to repurpose it.

In this video I speak softly in Norwegian about a book of folklore. You can use it to dose off to a soft voice without being kept awake by the story or content. If you DO speak Norwegian, I hope you find my chatting about folklore interesting :) I recorded this without a script, so I talk a bit more freely and natural than in most of my videos.
For some reason I thought you were swedish (???), fantastisk artig å høre asmr på dialekt :)
@@tanningbed Takk!
This was lovely thank you. I don’t think I’ve actually ever heard someone speaking Norwegian and it was very nice. 😊
Norway is my 3rd favorite country now
Instructions unclear, I tried to speak Norwegian without knowing how to, and now I think I released a Lovecraftian monster in my house
Beautiful! Thanks!
Brilliant! I’d listen to you read a phone book, as we used to say when phone books were still a thing.
Lol. Yes, when phone books and phone booths were EVERYWHERE!! Lol.
Ahh, those were the days.
I absolutely loved it ❤
I feel like a foreigner whose washed up upon the shores of your Viking village. You're helping me recuperate while also trying to figure out where I'm from. But I'm no help because I have amnesia.
hooooollllllyyy shit. so relaxing. keep up the amazing work. love this.
Well...I know what I'll be listening to while drifting off to sleep tonight...will provide the results of my research tomorrow.
This is a very relaxing video! Also, I'm learning Sweedish at the moment and I'm surprised by how similar Norwegian and Sweedish are. I could even understand some of the stuff!
I don't understand what exactly you're saying but your calming voice is helping me drift off ☁️
Best i learn norwegian im mostly norwegian so i think it makes sense to learn the language to get into my roots better honestly some words i can understand what they mean and translate a bit even tho I've never heard them before
My Norse Sister, May Odin Shine Upon You! SKOL!
Now I see the reason of your excellent Na'vi language pronunciation) your mother language is Norwegian)
It sounds similar to Na'vi language
I wanted to get closer to my norse ancestry. Not in a weird racist away, i just want to suspend myself in a world away from the states where the weather reflects my mood. Words i feel genuine trying to learn for family i could get close to if i only learned it more.
That book sounded like an interesting read, do you know if it has an English translation?
I don't think so, it's pretty old and not that well known.
I actually understood a few similar words and context, as I've studied the Swedish language in Finnish school.
That's interesting! I heard somewhere that western norwegian dialects (like mine) are more similar to swedish than the standard "bokmål" of eastern norway.
@@nightmotherasmr Right. I've heard the same thing, that Norwegian and Swedish can seem similar. And Finnish Swedish is a bit different from the proper "rikssvenska" of Sweden. Learning Swedish is still mandatory, although I live in a place where Finnish is the language of the majority.
I once heard a joke that Danish, on the other hand, is like Swedish with a hot potato in your mouth.
@@ollikoskinen1 It's easy for me to understand Swedish, but Danish can be difficult. They have many guttural sounds (the potato analogy isn't too far off...), and a lot of words are undistinguishable from each other (to me).
@@nightmotherasmr I don't have a great amount of exposure to Danish personally. A few years ago I watched a TV series about their history, named 1864. The series followed people from a small village and their involvement in a war where the Danes and Germans fought over southern Denmark.
