Hello Rick. It's 8 years later and I'm still enjoying your honest and objective videos. The Bull Whisper Extreme springer, .22cal.; you were right on. I just came inside from shooting the one I've had for 9 years. It's very powerful and hard on scopes. I installed a Leapers UTG True Strength optic and it does well with periodic "resetting". The rings don't appear to be moving. Despite the scope issue I like the gun, it's a keeper. Thanks for the 'facts not fluff' vids.

I have this gun in .177 cal. My scope never did sight in for long and finally broke. I love mine very much, even though it has broken 4 different scopes. What I think broke them is shooting heavy(10.5, and 13.4 grain) pellets with it. I just put a new Simmons 3-9X 32AO on it and hope it stays intact. The artillery hold is very important to learn with springer air guns. See this guys other videos to learn it. Happy hunting.
Okay, The Simmons scope did not perform well on my .177 BWE. I changed to a Bushnell Sportsman 4-12X40AO which adds a little weight and what a HUGE difference. I have also been pairing my shooting style to the gun for over a year and am extremely happy (no pun intended) with my accuracy. I think I would like to try this in .22, is it possible to swap out the barrels on this gun?

Liviu - I like the Sport HD IR scopes from Hawke as they use an etched glass reticle that holds up better to airguns with sharp reverse recoil.

I think the .177 EXTREME is very well balanced and nicely designed.

This is a pretty good gun. It is very hold sensitive and will take a good bit of practice to get the best results.

This (and the varmint hunter hp) is one of Gamo's best offerings in a while. Great gun. You just have to learn to conquer the hold technique to get the consistency.

Hey Rick, excellent review as usual. Does this gun have the same power as the model it looks like, the Gamo SOCOM Extreme? I'm pretty curious about this.
The Socom extreme was based on the old 1650 fps hunter extreme powerplant. Gamo moved away from that and went to the 1400 fps powerplant of the Varmint Hunter HP. It's a good switch and more practical. If you want the most accuracy and power, the Hatsan 125 will give it to you. Consider .25 cal for the most accuracy, power, and range.

both are good.. depends on what you looking to use it for. I like the BWE in .22 for power and features.. the Silent Stalker Whisper IGT is good for easy accuracy.

It depends on your back yard. I would use it in my yard, but not for long periods of time. I'm pretty sure that it would annoy the neighbors at some point.

I believe I mention in the video that it came in under the Silent Stalker Whisper IGT. So I found it fairly friendly for the back yard. it will depend on your neighbors however.

Thank you for the info, I'm stuck between the varmit hunter hp in 22 or this in 22. im am going to be mainly hunting rabbits, squirls, and small hogs, thanks in advance!
The BWE is no longer available. I would check out the Whisper Fusion Pro in .22. To be honest....both rifles would be great for rabbits and squirrels..not hogs.

It can be disassembled and maintaied if that is your preference. GAMO USA website also offers maintenance for these rifles. Just remember if you do anything outsided the norm that it will void the warranty.

Both of these rifles would be great because the Socom Extreme Tactical has some serious power. We have not seen the BWE in .22 available lately but it wiould be great as well. I would give the edge tp the BWE in .22.

The Varmint Hunters Noise level is real close to the Bull Whisper Extreme. Using heavy pellets will tame the noise.

That will 100% depend on your ability to put lead on the target. Ethically I would recommend only small game, i.e. squirrel, rabbit, etc. With the right shot placement and conditions, you may be able to humanely take woodchuck, fox, and raccoon. Repeatable 1" accuracy from you will be the key.

In terms of accuracy and power the SOCOM Extreme might have more powver but the Bull Whisper Extreme is just as accurate.

What the BWE has over Crossman is Light and Balanced weight. Maybe it is the stock that helps provide this. Crossman makes a great multi-pump in the 2100, and most agree that their PREMIER HollowPoint pellets are the best bargain in accurate ammo.
You will first have to determine if you are getting any scope slippage. If the scope is not slipping then you do not have a problem with the scope rails.

Whatever velocity you have you have to find the right pellet and if you do a rifle can be accurate at either velocity. It depends on the rifle and finding the right pellet.

We have not seen the Bull Whisper Extreme in .22 available. If it was we would say go with it. Since it is not available go with the Gamo Whisper Fusion Pro in .177.

If I need a quiet backyard shooter for squirrels and rabbits, I would go with the Trail NP in .22 or the Silent Cat. If I nedd a powerful .177 for small game then I would go with the Bone Collector.

It is very powerful rifle. YOu will need to get better scope mounts because it is known to have movement with the included mounts.

Tough call on that one.. Out of the box.. it is a better gun for sure. Put a different trigger in the stoeger and things get muddy a bit. The Gamo has a lot more power though.. really decent gun for the money. So long you can tame the recoil.

Make sure that you are using he artillery hold. What pellets are you using also? In that rifle it should be at least a good 8 grain pellet or better.

I think the measure will come with how long that XL will shoot at that speed.. I just had my 2nd Trail guns go "flat" just sitting still. I don't trust the gas rams. I have a trail thats about 2 years old with maybe 1000 shots through it. Picked it up the other day to show someone and the ram had leaked.. just sitting in the shop. Never had that with a spring gun.

It does not have the same power as the socom extreme line (which has been discontinued). It is a great compromise between power and functionality. I'm a big fan of this gun, provided you can work out the technique to get consistency.

I really like my .177 EXTREME. I find that I have to draw it into my shoulder to tame the recoil Jump. The noise level is quite bearable for suburban use. But make sure the neighbors know what it is, because it looks like a real serious firearm. How is the Varmint Hunters noise level compared to the Bull Whisper EXTREME?

hi there again , I just got the Gamo bull whisper extreme .177 and I also bought leapers 4-16x50AO scope , I am finding it hard to get a good group , I find the recoil is the main key in affecting my accuracy and the SAT trigger can be a bit hard ......... hum... I dont know , its like sometimes I can hit the target , but most of my pallet spread goes up , I think its the recoil , can you give me some tips at shooting bull whisper extreme , cheers ~ please reply

I believe the Hatsan is better. If there is an issue with a Hatsan gun you can send it to be tested and when you get it back it will be certified to shoot properly. Crosman just sends out a new gun and you may or may not be in the same place as when you started.

hey! I really like your Reviews and I watched many of them trying to figure out what could be the Best rifle for me but i have a Problem - Money. many people Are asking for the Best rifle but i think they Should ask More precisely. i'll try to clarify what i want.
mainly i Would Use my weapon in back yard but i dont wanna miss the opportunity to Hit targets at high distance, so sometimes i will Use it in the woods. i also want to shoot accurate Groups without to much spread.
i know that this sounds like the perfect Hobby rifle that probably dont exist.

It depends on what you want. They are very different. The RWS 34 is a nicer gun in my opinion, but the BWE shoots harder.

I purchased the new Gamo Bone Collector Hunter IGT CAT Air Rifle. Mounted a UTG mount barrel droop compensator. But removed the track that the rifle comes with. Put on a UTG scope. The fit was perfect. But the mount didn't hold in place. Creeped back and the pin that helps the mount from creeping back broke. Then I decided to put the original track back and the mount that is shipped with the scope on the gun. But now the scope sits to far. Could you help with this problem? What do you suggest for a good mount or good set up for this rifle scope and mount.
This,my friend is exactly why i quit shooting break barrels,especially Gamo,and switched to PCP.

hi there , I heard about the Gamo scope rails causing problem , could this be the reason why I am having problem getting a consistent grouping on my recently purchased Gamo bull whisper extreme ? I really want a Gamo Socom Extreme , but I heard that model is discontinued ,,, and the closest to that is the Gamo Bull whisper extreme , does this one deliver similar result compared to Socom Extreme ? as in term of accuracy and power ?
As a note.. the xl does not get 1000 fps with lead pellets.. its about the same power as this gun. (I've tested both). As for the sound.. they are also about the same on a DB meter. The marketing on the side of the box does not tell the whole story.
