Murders on the rise in Austin as police deal with staffing shortage | FOX 7 Austin

The eighth murder of 2024 happened Wednesday night in northwest Austin. The Austin Police Association says that the police staffing problem could be a factor in the rise of crime.

Last time I was doing overnight security at a government building, the nearby section 8 apartment complex literally had an EMS and Police vehicle there full time, they even blocked off both roads had SWAT, MRAPs and a semitruck hauling a command center behind it.
That was just one damn apartment complex.
Austin is a lost cause, thank the Demonrats.

Difficult to hire new police staff in an environment where cops are insulted and distrusted by council and the da, where they will be accused and found guilty in spite of the facts, not to mention a police academy curriculum totally woke.

Someone I work with was followed home by two hispanic gang/cartel members and was shot at by both of them as soon as he got out of his car in his driveway.
Almost 2 years later police haven't found either of them, they said it was suspected gang initiation as the area is known to law enforcement to be a hotbed for mexican cartel and hispanic gang activity.
He survived the shooting by pure luck, one to his back, one grazed his skull the other went through his cheeks and shot some of his teeth out but he's made a full recovery.
