  • Fun day crawling with the rock buggies. We have a $120 Danchee Ridgerock vs a $120 Danchee Ridgerock va an $800 Axial Capra modified to act like a Danchee Ridgerock. What I mean is the Capra now has 4 wheel steering, just like the $120 Ridgerock had out of the box! I have said it before, I love these Danchee Ridgerocks! for an entry level RC crawler, they are packed with features and great FUN!
    The pink one has just been painted and accessory LEDs and 3d printed light bars have been added.
    We are at Rockaway Beach in Pacifica, California to crawl around the quarry here.

    Nice video, mostly liking because of the dog. Love golden retrievers

    Love it! At about 7:34 "I guess that's one way to .... crawl off" = FULL SEND ON THE CAPRA! I have an original Axail AX10 Scorpion with the Baja Buzzard truck shell and always wanted an MOA crawler too. Thanks to the FTX Ravine (UK version of the Danchee Ridgerock), I now have one. Great for £99 over here. I've star-cut the foams, weighted the wheels and also stuck some weights on top of the steering servos as per the pink one. Capable little crawler even on the stock tyres.

    Danchee tiene la batería de serie o tiene de otro tipo?

  • @zoridor16

    what are the advantages and disadvantages of estr crawler? when carrying 2 motors? Does the battery discharge faster? Is it easy to improve and get spare parts and accessories? How about the stock electronics? If I wanted to replace the esc with a better one ... what make, model and size should it be correct?

    I have a Ridgerock also, and I took the foam out of the tires and put in about 4.2oz (1850 grains) of BB's (around 300 or so), in each tire (about 1lb total added weight).. All that weight is now pushing the tire to the ground.. Only thing that stops it now is axle clearance.. I think the BB's (1500 copper coated) was $3-4 at Walmart..

    • @robdude1969
      @robdude1969  Před 4 lety

      That's something I considered and researched at one time... I want to ask - was it worth it???

    • @vansantsam
      @vansantsam Před 4 lety

      @@robdude1969 Ya, sure it was for $3-4.. If you don't want to do the BB method, just take your tire off and put a couple turns around the hub with some electrician tape, to close off the air vent and then put some water in your tires (3/4 full should do it).. The water method is free other than a little electrician tape..

    • @robdude1969
      @robdude1969  Před 4 lety

      @@vansantsam You would do it again right? I can afford the bb's!! The water method sounds like a puddle waiting to happen. You don't even have to fill the tires all the way right? I love the idea. I have always been amazed at the concept of these balls used in full size tires as balancing aides... Any noticeable drawbacks? additional motor strain?

    • @vansantsam
      @vansantsam Před 4 lety

      @@robdude1969 B's are still in the tires.. I can only say that the only down side is that it doesn't stop as quickly - then again it is 1 lb heaver and any weight in motion wants to stay in motion.. It does provide better traction.. You could experiment and put more in the front and less in the rear.. I just weighed out equal amounts on a scale for each tire and the work fine.. Try it and judge for yourself..

    Do you have a broken front left axle on the pink ridgerock? The shot i noticed it was rolling backwardswhen the right from was staying still.

    • @robdude1969
      @robdude1969  Před 4 lety

      I just repaired it today. It somehow was missing the axle locking pin. The drive train was all ok! I’m guessing the wheel nut loosened and the pin fell out. We were joking about it being three wheel drive so I had to drive backwards.

    • @robdude1969
      @robdude1969  Před 4 lety

      Temper looks like a bit hopped up from the Ridgerock on linkage and appearance and has lights already, but Ridgerock has 2 motors and 4 wheel steering which is what makes it AWESOME!!!

      Daryll Cantu he put a bunch of time and money into it to get 4 wheel steering. It’s pretty cool though. Oh but the Ridgerock costs less than the stuff to mod the Capra.

      @@robdude1969 I meant my capra isn't top heavy. Its stock except the castle slate system and it rarely flips even with the 2850 kv motor. I wonder if 4WS messes with the geometry.

    • @MattA787
      @MattA787 Před 4 lety

      @@lowslowcrawlers1304 The stock Capra isn't top heavy at all, but with the taller 2.2's, the CG is moved up. And I was taking hard obstacles, challenging it a bit (plus my driving could have been better). But I was trying to see how hard I could push the Capra on the 2.2's. The steering geometry had nothing to do with it. I now have added more weight to the front with brass portal covers, lengthened the wheelbase (longer links) and widened the stance with wider hex nuts on the wheels. It really drives amazing! The Danchee can't really come close. But then again, you can buy almost 4 Danchees for what I have put into my Capra. On a side note, the capra drives amazing (and maybe better) on the prolinie 1.9 hyrax preditor compounds.
