    I really hope Reiza can remove the "AI not having the same wet physics" thing that AMS2 inherited from PC2.

    • @boijorzee
      @boijorzee Před 4 měsíci +5

      Mostly the AI has a reasonable pace in the wet, sometimes they are really slow and sometimes too fast. At this point the AI has very little in common with the AI in PC2.

      The AI doesn't have the same dry physics either. Can't think of a single sim that has the AI running the same physics as the player as its too resource hungry.

      I definitely remember this on Project Cars 2. I would lower the AI for wet races to compensate.

    I'm brazilian, and your pronunciation of our cities and track names are really goog! Trust me! And, by the way, it's pretty cool to see our tracks and cars bringing fun to people all over the world.
    As you said you like more elevation changes, you will like the velocitta track that you commented. It's has shorter straights, but the elevation changes are crazy. And stock car use to have races there as well.

    To the folks out there that wonder what it's like to drive in the rain in the lower mainland of British Columbia going into Vancouver, well Mike just made a pretty accurate depiction in this video. Well done!!

    nice race as always!!
    just a few things to take in consideration for those ultra wet races...
    some of the tracks and categories in real life would not keep the race going on those "extreme" conditions.. I wish we had a option for scheduled safety car to join for a few laps when the track is flooded...again, some of the tracks don't have a proper drain system to fastly deal with that high level of water on track..and some of the cars don't have enough grip even on wet tires
    it is not the case for goiania or the stockcars, but the SC would be really fun!

    • @jonasclementdk
      @jonasclementdk Před 4 měsíci +1

      That would be really awesome - SC when the track becomes too wet, and different tracks will have different thresholds. Have you suggested it on the Reiza forums?

    I'd love to see NASCAR style stock cars represented in AMS2, if for no other reason than completeness. AMS2 seems to be doing a LOT very well.

    I ran some laps in these stock cars. Really fun car. Would be even better if I could get my Force feedback dialed in this title. I struggle with a consistent setting that feels good.

  • @okcalculator670
    @okcalculator670 Před 4 měsíci +1

    Hey Mike, have you tried the Full Force Custom FFB for AMS2? It's actually insane how good it is. Anyone's that ever thought AMS was slidey feeling needs this file. In fact, it should just become the default FFB

    I really didn't like my experience with wet weather this we in AMS2. I raced Bathurst and it started raining in the middle of the race and I was all over the track while the AI was just passing me without even pitting for wet tires.

    Not sure why you're complimenting this AI so much. I have to raise its level 8-9 points for wet conditions and this just shows how immersion breaking in race transitions are. "Gaining a bunch of time in one lap" has never been a good thing.

      @opmike343 Před 4 měsíci

      Most of the people hating on iRacing either haven't played it in the past few years if they've even played it at all. People just repeat what they hear other people say online (who they themselves might not even have any experience).

      @@opmike343 weird most seem to agree that ffb and slip angle are the sims short comings when compared to something like LMU or AC

    • @opmike343
      @opmike343 Před 4 měsíci

      @@nuztuz903 I'm sorry, where did I say it didn't have shortcomings? I'm challenging people who level criticism of the sim in a manner that makes it sound like they haven't played any recent iteration of the sim. Anyone tossing around terms like "ice racing," as an example, has just telegraphed to anyone who spends times playing ALL the PC sims that they are just parroting forums debates from well before COVID.
      Whatever little debate that circles around whether iRacing should be putting more or less emphasis on canned FFB effects, or tire model behavior at more extreme slip angles (AMS2 being the widest window, iRacing probably being on the other end of the spectrum certainly, with a narrow window) are quite frankly irrelevant to my point.
      Rain in AMS2 is a waste of time if you're looking for a simulation experience and not just an atmospheric one. It simply doesn't model aspects of a wet track that actually make rain races interesting. Rain isn't interesting just because traction around the course has been lowered to 75%. Rain races are interesting because a wet track forces drivers to take more creative and varied lines as traction around the lap is always shifting position. Truly great wet weather drivers aren't great just because they are better at handling a slippier car, you know? AMS2 Rain is great for aesthetics, but it isn't actually providing a "wet" driving experience. And if we will criticize the "lesser" sims for being "simcade" because they aren't accurately modeling reality, then it's only fair to call it out here.

    • @nuztuz903
      @nuztuz903 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@opmike343 yes yes we all agree that iracing is the pinnacle of wet driving, I don't think anyone will contest that. however for the price I don't consider Iracing's overall package competitive within the larger simracing market and many of the "iceracing" arguments are still there to be made. while I can't comment as I haven't played in the last year people like Daniel morad (IMSA GT3 Driver) and Moritz Lohner (Esports Driver) have criticised how the game handles slip angle. I'll grant you FFB is very subjective and most "sims" have a pretty good baseline including iracing. and yes all of the other sims have their issue but Iracing comes under higher scrutiny due to the absurd price. it should be industry leading in every area when the price end's up being 5 to 10x to what you would pay for some of the competition.

    I love AMS2 as an offline sim, but its AI is very inconsistent, sometimes great, sometimes absolutely awful; depending on class/track/weather. But for a quick offline race, I’ll still play AMS2 now and then.
