    This works! When the pain begins I start laughing, then I say too myself... I know it's tms, and give it zero fear and zero attention... And I start focusing on other stuff.... I can switch the pain off like that..its good stuff

    I really like Dan's reassuring tone of voice. I recovered from a long history of back pain in 2016 thanx to Dr Sarno's teachings but somehow, for the first time in years, back pain has come back and eventhough I feel like i know about the teaching and the pain is stemming from, I can't really shake it (yet ;-)....

    This is where Awareness comes in. As soon as you are Aware of what has happened..you can change the response. When I walk..I tell myself I am Safe..because I have fallen a couple times and I had fear. I like the “I am Good.” I Know I will be Okay! I can picture me in the future from my past. Most all of my life I did anything I wanted to..walk long walks..hiking..doing all my cleaning and housework..helping my husband build houses. I have helped put up walls..shingled roofs..hung and finished Sheetrock, painted, wallpapered..carried five children around for a number of years. There was nothing I could not physically do. I am still strong and healthy..but I have this great restriction on my right side which I now believe my body is really protecting me from Something! But TMS teaching has eliminated the Fear.

    Hey Dan! There’s a hit remixed song out right now called “I’m Good (Blue)” by Bebe Rexha and David Guetta. It goes “don’t you know I’m good, yeah I’m feelin alright” and it’s very catchy. I start singing it to myself when I’m trying to break conditioned responses, or when I want to respond indifferently to a symptom. For other pop music fans out there maybe it will help!

    Struggling to get out in the icy and snowy conditions in London. I was very anxious about having a fall, so trod carefully, then the anxiety soared, probably my thoughts about a previous fall and not wanting to end up in hospital again. On cue my brain gave me my thoughts lol. I had a full-blown panic attack on my walk. Blurry vision, shortness of breath etc stayed with it and headed into my car rather than back into my house. Put CZcams on and one of your videos called "anxiety?" From 2-years ago, came up, it was so helpful. I think you need to re share it, I'd recommend to anyone with anxiety. I always say you can do this no big deal…. Or there’s no reason you can’t do this get on with it. And that usually helps. I finally after 6 months got over the back pain of bending over to empty the dishwasher or dryer😂 same with my feet. In the morning I used to be hesitant to walk because my feet hurt and I just say you’re good, there’s no reason why you can’t walk and then it just stops. It actually used to take a few min of saying that before it would disappear but now it’s pretty much within a min and I know eventually it won’t happen at all.

    After 43 years of conditioned response of waking up w morning headaches 1 to 3x weekly, I'd have 1 really bad day, usually on my 1 & only day w hubby which I "desperately" wanted. Key word being "desperately", putting too much pressure on that day. When I found you & Nicole I realized it was a conditioned response, that knowledge alone helped trends. So now my bedtime routine is all about self soothing for a good night sleep & telling myself I'll wake up feeling good, rested, energetic. I usually do. If g-d forbid I wake up w headache, I say "get the F%ck outta here, I have better things to do." And it usually goes away. Now my husband who supposedly believes in this, wakes up w stiff calves, he thinks it because he stands all day for work. Once he gets moving, it dissipates. I tell him this, bur I dont have wearwithall to get into with him

It really makes sense and it’s amazing how we do expect, in my case extreme anxiety/panic, not eating, vertigo. Well, I just watered the plants and cleaned the litter box. No more anxious, etc., while doing, and yes, the “worst case scenario bs (pardon) came to mind several times, and I just refocused on what I’m doing. This week has been the best for 1 year, pain 4 out of 10 and sometimes I forget even the same pain, as Dan says, we don't have to complicate ourselves, it's just TMS. I still have a long way to go, but having tasted how beautiful it is to be without pain, I already know that the remaining pain is temporary. I don't know if it's correct but I pamper myself I challenge my pain, when he decides to attack, I tell him come, he tries to destroy me and he honestly does the opposite.

    By getting up and fixing the new ladder to the loft in my garage I interrupted the pain in my left leg that usually starts every morning after breakfast,. Therefore, you should break up your routines consciously to reprogram your neural pathways, so they don't reinforce the pain symptoms.

    Can we use physical techniques as an interruption? When my nerve pain flares up when sitting at work, I say to my brain, no, we’re not doing this today. Let’s go outside. Then I go out in the cold for a walk and give me brain a different sensation to focus on, the cold weather. And I reassure my brain that waking is anti inflammatory and good for me.

    11:03 I have been trying this for some months Dan. I don’t have conditioned responses now. BUT the migraines 😡. You may recall. Every night. And yes I’m still trying. According to migraine expert I have medication overuse. So daily triptans causing this. Answer stop the meds. Well I can’t. I’ve tried. I can’t bear the pain. Especially at 4/5 am. I gave known about neural pathways since I trained in mid 80s. I don’t agree I’m rebounding. Yes conditioned response. I wonder if anyone else here can relate please. See I think if they came when I’m up. Awake I could be more able. Nocturnal migraines are not uncommon. But every night. That’s uncommon. Very much welcome any other ideas. I’m out of them. Thanks again Dan and Finn. 😊

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Před rokem +1

      The only things you have control over are what you expect and your response if a migraine happens. You are absolutely 100% certain that you will get a migraine in the middle of the night. Change that certainty to expecting that you CAN be pain free through the night. Change the story. Expect the best. It may not work initially, but with consistency, your brain may begin to believe the new story. The next thing you can control is how you respond. This video discusses.

    You suggest that we can't bring on the pain consciously.
    I am pain free in the mornings.
    One morning I was brushing my teeth thinking ,worried about a long drive ahead that day and how painful it would be, placed my tooth brush down ...wamo !
    Another scenario I was on a wobbly ladder , stressing over a job and worrying, "I hope my back doesn't go up here", wamo!. Both scenarios consciously influenced.
    All brains differ, one size fits all doesn't exists.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Před rokem

      What I said is that pain is not under our conscious control. Look at your left elbow and make it hurt. Now look at your back and tell it to stop hurting. It's not under conscious control. The best we can do is influence the subconscious to give us a different result than we are getting by not telling ourselves scary stories.
      It was the STORIES you told about the long drive or being up on the ladder are what the brain perceived as danger so your subconscious responded and brought about your typical pain.

    What if stationary you are in pain, so in my case bedridden. But I get up and it changes/moves/goes… but you are SO fatigued and have brain fog etc that you can’t ‘get on’ or keep moving to break the patterns?
    I take the pain with me but can’t go far, then flare like crazy! So how do I pattern interrupt if I can’t keep going due to fatigue and neurological issues.
    Example - I’m in agony right now, but if I get up the pain will change/go down.. but am so fatigued and dizzy I will have to sit, then it all comes on again.. and I can’t keep ‘pushing’ through my fatigue, so get locked in pain (which I know is from my brain locked in trauma/freeze)..
    There has to be a way I can relax into it all - I constantly try to stay up beat, however the 50 or so symptoms I have from blurred vision and light sensitive to 11/10 leg pain and derealisation just seem too much to pattern interrupt?
    Help welcomed please!
    I crashed 2 years ago with my sympathetic nervous system going crazy, and in that time I’ve gone from 3 symptoms to about 50… and I’ve TRIED so hard to just be calm and do life..
    I’m sure whatever is going on it has TMS at the core - cfs/me, neuro issues, fear, trauma, ptsd.. all of it expresses as tms type symptoms!
    Thank you 🕊️

And keep doing it even though I tighten and it feels burnt, I got this way after my husband died in a car accident, my life spiraled out of control, was saying goodbye to him in our house(he was leaving for work) and 10 minutes later he was dead, ugh,, life can really beat us up, no need for pity, it's been 5 years, but I haven't been able to get a grip with fear

    Do you think that menstrual cramps are PDP too? And that we could develop a conditioned response on it?

    • @DeboraBettiol
      @DeboraBettiol Před rokem +1

      I'm starting to think so. I mean, it makes sense. Women have always complained about menstruation and its terrible sensations. So period equals danger. When I have my period, the cramps are so bad I have to stay in bed and take ibuprofen after ibuprofen.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Před rokem +1

      I do believe there are varying degrees of discomfort depending on the woman. However, the expectation of the pain/cramps and the fear of it may cause them to be more painful than actually caused by the menstrual cycle. So yes, part real, but the mind may be amplifying things depending on the fear levels.

    Love your videos. Just wondering if I’m doing a workout and let’s say I do deadlifts and I feel pain and feel my low back tightening. In this scenario is it best to continue on despite the pain or to stop? Even though no damage has occurred to my body.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Před rokem

      Perceived danger is the cause. Can you continue without your fear growing? If fear grows, the pain may intensify. If you can calmly dismiss your pain as nothing but a warning from a scared brain and move forward confidently, keep working out. Clarity and calm is the way. If you are scared, you may want to stop.

    Saying it’s ok I’m good and imagining myself doing things and being good ( no symptoms )
    Do I or “remain indifferent” when I feel symptoms as one of your other videos said to do that ?
    Is one way more effective than the other or should I do both ?
    Ps I’m loving your videos I’ve had severe Chronic fatigue for 11 years your videos are daring me to hope. Even tho they are centered around pain I fully believe your approach counts for symptoms of some chronic illnesses too.
    Ps because I’ve not been good for so long I’m tempted to say
    “ I’m good now “ is that ok ?
    Like saying to my brain , now I understand what this is it’s ok now, I’m good now kind of thing …
    I ask this as I feel my brain saying back to me no your not good and you haven’t been for ages you see, so I’m thinking if I say “I’m good now” may tempt my subconscious to believe me more … 🤔just wondered your thoughts on that too if you get a spare minute

    Hey Dan. I know you said we can’t consciously control pain, but if I start thinking about eg my right hand, it will start hurting. Same thing with my other hand and my feet. In fact, the pain in those body parts can move around just based on my thoughts. Unfortunately, while I can provoke pain by thinking about it, I can’t make it go away as easily. 😂 this is a big sign that it’s TMS right?

      Yes, the brain is creating the pain. Based on perceived danger. Focusing on your hand or other body part with fear and an expectation it's going to hurt can create pain. Knowing this, changing our expectations and lowering our fear, we can shut this off.

    the author says to 100% accept all of the , to befriend it, to it in even to make it worse. this seems to conflict with today's suggestion. can we hold both views?

      @@nancyrussell6598i think we can use many ways to heal Nancy.. acceptance of what is( pain / symptoms) and stopping the conditioned responses.. they condition us to feel a certain way.. where a healing state is one of being natural and not conditioned, I believe.. acceptance is great for me to stop feeding the frustration around the symptoms..and not putting extra fuel ⛽️ on a over sensitized scared brain.

      Yes, we can hold many views. The key is better instructions to the brain while remaining unafraid of the pain. I'm not sure we have to befriend the pain. But befriending the brain and not being frustrated with it's attempt to protect us is a good idea.

      @@PainFreeYou i think when we start the self-love attitude that is loving your whole self , so also the pains.. temporarily of course .. a pain or nasty experience can become a huge learning opportunity when we look back.I would not call my pain a friend but a guide to reset and live in a better and other way..🤔

    It is hard because the pain is the whole day, not specific with one movement of moment.. I have to say all day ‘im good’? I try and trust the process but some days it is hard.

      No, you don't have to say it all day. Just when it's more troublesome. A good place to begin is: www.PainFreeYou.com/start

    Thank you Dan. Dan also has another video complementing this which he posted two years ago dealing with pain reprocessing. Here is the link czcams.com/video/e3h8T_RK3_8/video.html I happen to just see that one as well and it is very valuable. A couple years ago I implemented the visualization when I was having issues for a long time walking not knowing that it was called pain reprocessing I had tremendous pain in my left big toe area when I was walking. I started visualizing walking and imagining pain and imagining my emotional response calming down. before long I wasn’t triggered with the walking and the pain went down. I still get some discomfort but Not nearly what it was.
