it's called strabismus, otherwise known as "lazy eye" or "cross eyed". If not treated at a young age, the person with strabismus's eyes will not be able to work together to form one 3D image as healthy eyes can. For me, covering one eye allows me to read more clearly where as I will get double vision otherwise. I can still read without covering one eye.
