    How does it compare with the KTM 890 Duke R, Yamaha MT-09 SP and Triumph Street Triple RS?

    Kawasaki is still keeping the traditional 4 cylinder engine which I love and their engines are always robust. Reliability is not an issue. Coming from owning Japanese and Euro bikes.

    I've had a '22 Z900 for a year and a half. Never have I noticed a snatchy throttle, Smooth transition on and off. This is the torquiest 4 banger I've owned. The other night, came to a rural stop sign, left it 5th gear and took off and chuckled. Even without brembos. it stops as well as my 900RS. The only complaint is the pillion seat, which I remove and put on an H&B Sportrack. All in all, after 10k miles, I love this bike. The last one I'll get rid of.

    hey thanks for the review, @4:15 when you talk abt "compromise " and you mention the bike is "a bit more firm in the back" since the rear shock is fully adjustable you can adjust it to your liking. Thats the main thing of having a fully adjustable shock - it can be that you need a different spring but that is a different story. In any case having an adjustable ohlins in the rear i would guess that there is a lot of play room available.

    I test rode the z900 a few weeks ago. Although the handling was very confident and the engine power was more than enough for me, I just couldn't get used to the on/off throttle response. It really started to bother me. Way too nervous. I was used to an old-fashioned throttle lever with throttle cable instead of drive by wire. Although I wonder if all motorcycles equipped with this system have the on/off throttle response.

    • @Kraiden85
      @Kraiden85 Před rokem +5

      Z900 doesn't have ride by wire. GSX-S950 / 1000 however do, and I find those bikes really twitchy on the throttle responde, Z900 less so.

    • @vincentdavidson755
      @vincentdavidson755 Před rokem

      Don't think the wire drive is a good idea I'm thinking of the 900 rs kaw good reports from people with 40,000 mi only oil change and tires and it has that retro look and feal of the old bikes and you can see the moter with out panels to ever have to take off and with 110 hp 0 to 60 3 sec is fast enough I would think the dals on the 900 rs would last forever and don't really trust the z900 computer set up sence people have said it gets stuck in certain modes 😐

    • @duroxkilo
      @duroxkilo Před rokem +3

      it's not the kind of throttle control they use, it's the fuel/ignition mapping... this is not new w/ kawasaki, they shut off the fuel on close throttle on models going back 2 decades. it takes a bit to get used to it and adjusting the throttle play helps a lot. imagine their larger v-twins that have lots of torque at v low rpms..

      @exothermal.sprocket Před 11 měsíci +6

      If you've tried other brands and bikes in the last 10 years or so, this is a common complaint by a lot of people. It's not that the manufacturer doesn't have the resources or the understanding to make an engine's fueling absolutely perfect, it's that a manufacturer has to comply with Euro5 and noise regulations and by so doing, these undesirable traits are what customers get.
      The only solution is getting an ECU flash aftermarket. The EPA mandates fuel injectors shut totally off when the throttle is closed. No carburetor ever did that, no fuel injection system prior to about Euro3 did that. There's always going to be a delay between injection off and on, a whetted intake tract vs. dry, and the lash between the engine and transmission, the transmission and drive chain, the final drive and the cush drive and finally the cush drive and the tire on the road.
      Get an ECU flash and find how superbly smooth, perfectly fueled, and easily controllable modern fuel injection can be if not hampered by the dumb EuroCrats.

    See slight problem I'm sure a triumph 765 puts out close to 120hp so then comes the question why buy this
    Triumph has braided lines, brembo brakes front n rear and master cyl, and ohlins front and rear also. So the spec is there and the power is close with smaller displacement also lighter too also same applies to the Mt09 the street triple is quicker even though the mt is a 800+ cc
    Mt09 sounds amazing though.
    Admittedly im trying to choose
    I thinking either
    BMW s1000r gen2
    Triumph 765rs but I'd want more power so it would have to be the 1200rs (quite a bit more pricey than the others)

    All of those bikes are good for small people. For anyone who is 5 .10 to 6 - this is common height these bikes are too small, and definitely not for riding with pillion. Welcome to real world where economy has priority. That is why most bikes are going to sell to the Asian market and this is why bikes are designed for that market.
