  • Which of These 6 Top Selling Electric Egg Cookers Should You Buy?
    Putting the egg cookers to the test to bring you our results so you know which electric egg steamer you should buy. Here are the product links:
    Copper Chef: amzn.to/3dol7qQ
    Dash Rapid: amzn.to/3dkSYkt
    Maxi-Matic: amzn.to/2WyywXg
    Hamilton Beach: amzn.to/2xg9wtc

    Mueller: Don’t bother purchasing
    We selected six of the top egg cookers based on retail sales volume, popularity based on Google searches, and the top rated ones based on Amazon review ratings. We put each of these cookers through the following test (where they had the capabilities):
    - Hard-boiled
    - Soft-boiled
    - Poached
    - Omelette
    We also rated them for overall ergonomics.
    Some of the electric egg cookers in our roundup didn’t have poaching or omelette making capabilities. To get a complete look at our test kitchen, check out our full write-up here: www.cookwarejunkies.com/best-....

    Hard Boiled Egg Cooker Performance
    All of the cookers were able to hard-boil an egg. The winners in this test were the Mueller Rapid Egg Cooker, Copper Chef Egg Cooker and the Dash Rapid Egg Cooker. The loser was the Cuisinart Egg Central Electric Cooker.
    Soft Boiled Egg Cooker Capabilities
    All cookers had the ability to soft-boil an egg. Winners were the Dash and the Hamilton Beach Electric Egg Cooker. The losers were the Maxi-Matic EGC-007 and the Mueller.
    Poached Eggs in an Egg Cooker
    All of our cookers but the Mueller were able to poach eggs. However, all of our units except for the Copper Chef struggled on this test. The Dash did have a notable mention.
    Omelettes in an Egg Cooker
    Here’s where we really ran into problems. When it came to omelets, the only one that was something you may serve was the Copper Chef. Hamilton Beach and Mueller did not have the ability to do omelettes. You’re gonna want to pull the pan out when it comes to making omelets. Cooking omelettes by way of steam is just too much to ask.
    Copper Chef Egg Cooker Review
    The Copper Chef was the winner and deemed the Best Egg Cooker. It features a solid overall design and performed at the top of the group in each test. Only issue, there’s no timer, leaving you to decide when your eggs are done.
    Dash Rapid Egg Cooker Review
    We’re calling the Dash our Co-Winner. It, like the Copper Chef, is well designed and finished at the top of the pack in each test except for the Omelete test. The Dash, unlike the Copper Chef, has a timer. Giving it the upper hand for someone looking for an egg cooker that will perform a “set it and forget” cook.
    Maxi-Matic (Elite) Steamer
    The Maxi-Matic was designed well, but struggled in each of our tests, except for when it came to hard-boiling an egg.
    Hamilton Beach Electric Egg Cooker
    This one was tough. The Hamilton Beach came out of the gates strong, excelling at the hard-boiled and soft-boiled egg test. The only problem, which was also discovered early on, is that it was constantly burning us. It built up excess condensation which would always seem to collect right under the handles - ouch.
    Cuisinart Egg Central Cooker
    This was the biggest disappointment of the group. The Cuisinart was the top selection of many other editorial test kitchen reviews online. Additionally, the quality and accessories were better than all the other cookers. However, from design to performance it was close to last place when compared to the other cookers in our roundup. The aluminum lid burned us on several occasions, and it did poorly in each of our test, except for the soft-boil test.
    Mueller Rapid Egg Cooker Review
    Wow. Let’s see: stabs you, burns you, has no on/off switch. Guess that covers the bad, more or less. It did produce the best hard-boiled eggs of all our cookers. It does not poach nor does it do omelettes. Don’t buy this one.

    You're putting in the eggs incorrectly. The wide end of the egg has more air in it and that's part you're supposed to pierce and place in the rack with the pierced part on top. If you pierce the narrow (pointy) end, the white will bulge out of the egg as it cooks because there is more albumin close to the shell on the narrow end.

      I purchased “Cuisinart,"
      from Bed Bath & beyond
      about two months ago. Even using pot holders, I would constantly get burned from the steam. I had another Cuisinart that I loved a few years ago, but it started leaking & wasn’t working well. This new Cuisinart does boiled eggs really well. As long as I poked holes at the top of the egg, using the hole poker, the egg was very simple to peel.

    I watched this video after I already bought the dash 6 egg cooker. I was worried my omelet wouldn't come out after seeing the disaster yours was but mine made a great omelet! I haven't used it yet to cook the hard-boiled eggs or the poached eggs yet, but I already love it!

    I do not need the frills, all I want to do is be able to boil eggs quickly and easily. I have the Elite Gourmet, which is virtually the same as the Dash. It works well and I am very pleased with it.

      I think they all are very similar. Some shutoff automatically and some you have to actually unplug every time. The last one I bought a fancy stainless unit from bella is supposed to shut off automatically but it does not. I'm gonna return it and go back to my old Hamilton Beach unit for now.

    The Cuisinart was not tested properly. It's operation requires the eggs to have the 'fat side' of the eggs upside. It should work well that way.

    Actually, look in your instruction booklet it tells you exactly the amount of water and it will cook it automatically you don’t have to time it, the buzzer goes off when it’s ready. I’ve got nothing but excellent results on everything with my DASH.

  • @mattikarosenthal3298

    I very much enjoyed this video. I bought myself the DASH, as with all of these egg cookers you have to be able to know want to give it a little more time if you want it cooked more, it’s no different than any other method of cooking.

  • @alabemos
    @alabemos Před 3 lety +2

    What I've noticed with the Dash is that timing varies depending on the size of the eggs. It seems to be very consistent if you use the same size egg with the same amount of water each time, so experiment the first few times until you get it right, and then you can set it and depend on the alarm to alert you when it is ready.

    • @davedavey250
      @davedavey250 Před 20 dny

      Seems to prefer medium eggs for the water levels on the measure cup. So I just add a.little above the line for large eggs.

  • @vapeking466
    @vapeking466 Před 24 dny +1

    If you can find the Watts I find 350 or up the best anything below is usually a dud. Many say auto shutoff but then come back on automatically at random. Its dangerous. As for steam burning you once or twice is all it takes to learn to avoid this. I only use mine for poached eggs Hamilton beach. I would recommend it overall butbit does have its drawbacks like the condensation issue and the little plastic knob always breaks off after a few uses. I just learned to use without a knob on the poaching tray. Beware many of these with auto shutoff often dont work correct or randomly turn themselves on! That can be dangerous. Some company could come in and design a fool proof auto off unit that just works always every time and clean up the market of all these subpar mediocre units.

    As for your comments on the poached eggs, they don’t have to be liquidy, you can have a poached egg well or soft. I know when I have my eggs Benedict I don’t want the yellow stuff running all over everything. Poached just means that it is submerged in water, it has nothing to do with the doneness.

  • @StayPositive-sd8op
    @StayPositive-sd8op Před 2 měsíci +1

    You should use distilled water tho. And why do u poke the eggs? I use the Hamilton Beach single level one and works great and dont have the condensation that you showed. But you made a good video👍

    • @vapeking466
      @vapeking466 Před 24 dny +1

      They claim you poke the hole so the egg doesn't explode. I only make poached eggs in mine and I use Reverse osmosis water in it to help keep clean.

  • @yesiownfrodo
    @yesiownfrodo Před 3 lety +1

    Easiest to clean? Also, some of us are looking for an egg cooker for breakfast, so we're not going to be cooking 14 eggs or anything like that. I think it's a tie between the maxi matic and the dash. I don't think the copper chef was a winner at all. There's no freaking timer, right? I am looking for something that shuts itself off. Also, what about the sound of the timer? I heard that the dash is like a fire alarm going off. Could you let us know? Thanks. Great job.

      Be careful! Many of these type cookers will turn off, then turn on after cooling down. Then off , then on... until you get back to the cooker to turn it off, or until your house burns down. Terrible design. I just got copper chef cooker that does just that. You must be there to baby sit it or risk an eventual fire hazard.

      @@acoustic4037 that's annoying

    And why do you need so many eggs, if it’s just a couple of people or even if you have a couple of children the dash would be your best bet. As for the omelette being under cooked, that was your fault, you probably didn’t whisk the eggs enough, and I usually put a little bit of milk in with the eggs, it produces a fluffy delicious omelette. Seems your Test Kitchen could use a little help understanding EGGS .....
    1.) NEVER , NEVER , EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BOIL
    " FRESH " EGGS ...They almost always STICK to the MEMBRANE between the inside Egg parts & the Shell itself like AlienTape ...Use Older Eggs that've been in the fridge for a couple weeks ... ( don't worry , eggs have a long shelf time ).
    2.) After boiling Eggs immediately set into an Icewater Bath ... Once they're Not Hot to the touch anymore , but still not Cold Yet , ( just a couple mins.) take each Egg out and tap it on the counter on it's side & give it a roll with some palm pressure on it & return it to the Icewater til good & Cold .. Do this with all of them ........
    3.) Effortlessly peel the eggs......
    4.) If for some odd reason you are still having trouble with shell sticking .. Just take a pint jar fill it halfway with Cold Water , put an Egg in jar , put lid on snugly & shake vigorously , ( NOT TOO VIGOROUSLY THOUGH , you don't want to destroy the egg ...) The Egg should Be Peeled For You ...Reoeat for the rest of the Eggs ...
    If you want to hear EXACTLY HOW TO BOIL HARD BOILED EGGS IN A POT FOR THEM TO BE PERFECTLY COOKED & SHELLS TO BE SNOOTHLY & EASILY PEELED , I SUGGEST YOU SEARCH OUT
    " COLLARD VALLEY COOKS "
    TUTORIAL ON HOW TO BOIL EGGS ...HER METHOD COMES OUT PERFECT EVERY TIME............
    YOU'RE. WELCOME.....
