On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. - Hry

Two Idiots dogfight F22's ? Maybe make it a bit interesting in the later rounds by loading up some exterior rails to see how it affects performance?
Asked 95 times for F35C vs F/A-18 but not giving up
I love that you enjoy the challenge of going head to head with a superior aircraft. It’s easy to make videos if you’re always in the better plane but you choose the path less traveled and still come out with great content. The way you explain your decision making process is top notch, keep it up my dude!
Thank you very much and yes I always enjoy a good challenge, thanks for tuning in.
@@GrowlingSidewinder I have a challenge for you GS! Please fly The MIG-28/F-5 VS MIG-29 Guns Only Dogfight Thrust Differential Split Throttle! Lol Russian Top Gun! Both MIG's flying their Soviet/Russian colors of their time! Just really like the idea of Older Fictional VS Newer Real! A rare situation and a challenge!😅🙏
@@GrowlingSidewinder another challenge, use the plane the reformers designed or best match against an f35
@@Anarchy_420 would split throttle be effective on the F5?
He is fighting cans he picks from his followers. Never flew a competent pilot from competetitive or bfm dcs scene.
One of the few aircraft that can survive more than 20 seconds in a dogfight with the f-22.
Not when Fox-2s are involved.
I was shocked by how well the Su-30 did against the F-22. I mean, that's a fairly conventional looking aircraft, not stealthy or anything.
@Syntex366 The AMRAAM is medium range though..
@Yeah Right the missiles that failed in Vietnam were AIM-7E and AIM-9D. They had a million times less signal processing power than your phone does.
@@LOLHAMMER45678 I mean by that logic I think the iphone had more processing power than the entire USAF in 1974 (or around there). But his point is we put way too much faith in new technology and tech in general so we didn't put a single gun on the phantom
The fact that the F16 can compete with an F22 in a dogfight shows how dominant it is as a fighter.
I’m terrified how good the Typhoon will be when it gets added, and I’m curious if the upgraded F16s like the Block III can be modded in with similar detail in the cockpit.
Tejas is better than F16
-P@jeet kumar from mumbai slum
Oh jeez if you’re terrified then maybe you’d wanna try not watching the videos which eventually come out?
its a guns only fight, you cant do two circles with the enemy dangling its aim9x balls.
@@ask_vfx It’s like a train wreck I can’t look away from.
F-16's are up to block 52 or higher now though, block three's are old as time
As you can see this is a pilot that has mastered his F-16 Viper. Amazing.
And almost as important, knows the strengths/weaknesses of his adversary aircraft.
Pound for pound and dollar for dollar, that VIPER is probably the most dangerous and capable aircraft to have ever served with the U.S. Airforce.... and that is a MASSIVE claim to make too!
f15 is better
It’s hard to believe the Falcon’s airframe is approaching 50yrs old and it is still able to mix it with the current day benchmark in the hands of a skilled pilot. What an iconic jet plane it turned into.
Well the F22 is 20yrs old so it is not too far off

The commentary on this video was so good. Really walked us through the fight and helped me understand the theory and techniques used.
As a man that has been in the instructing field for most of my life...
(construction, business, self defense and Law enforcement instructing)
You, should really look into that career. You have a way of making people understand what is happening that is smooth and easy...even for us that know nothing about DCS.
I highly support you in whatever life path you choose. You have the real basics to be good at whatever it is you choose.
Thank you, I really appreciate that. Actually a Very nice piece of feedback.
100%. There's plenty of other DCS channels out there but GS just has a way with words that makes watching his videos entertaining but also super informative.
@@GrowlingSidewinder All good and deserved...however i am still waiting on the B1 split throttle video :))
The F-16 will always be one of my all time favorite planes. It's iconic.
It’s a rocket with wings, love how minimalist it looks
@@aturboford1 Well it was an answer to the Mig-21 which also is just an engine with wings and a cockpit.
@@aturboford1 And how the pilot has such a clear view and how the pilot is reclined back and how the stick doesn't really move and on and on...SUCH a cool plane that really does look unique. Love it!
i love the p40 the most bc i belive its very underrated
@@aturboford1 yep. No wonder it gets super fast if you aren't careful
The F-22 pilot seemed very impatient - like "screw this long 2 circle, I'll just flip it around!" - doing counter maneuvers that would instantly get him killed in any other plane, but inevitably getting him killed in the end.
But might I just say, the newer F-16C is a bloody incredible aircraft!
You should try splitting the throttle! Heard that can do great things.
Seriously though, how you held up to that F22 was amazing to watch!
thought you were gonna do a split throttle in the f16
you can't
The f-16 is a single engine fighter
Lol the amount of people here who missed the joke is pretty entertaining
@@GrowlingSidewinder nah i didn't miss the joke
is that a top gun reference?
20 years ago, I was talking to a Navy F/A 18 pilot who flew a newer F-16. Maybe it was a Viper, I'm not sure.
I just remember the grin on his face when he said ...." with those engine upgrades that thing will scoot"
Pilot skill really does make a difference. Anyone else wouldn’t get the F22. Good stuff bro. That’s why I subscribed 👌
Some of the best technical energy use I have ever seen, Nice kill GS!
"What about that F-22?"
"We've all run the simulations! They're tough, but they ain't invincible. Stick with Growling Sidewinder, he'll know what to do."
Keeping up with that f-22 is no easy job, but you managed to. And I gotta say these videos are a delight to watch and with the commentary even I understand what’s going on! Keep it up bud❤
I just want to say thank you for taking the time to make these quality videos bud🙏🏻. I’m sure it takes a lot of time, also to post every day!! It Gives us something to look forward to watching every day and learn something new!!
Love it man, keep pumping out the quality content!
Hey great vid man, you’re amazing at this! Thanks for uploading incredible fights like this everyday 👍
Love the videos man! I appreciate that you explain what you are doing while you're fighting!
Maaan I love this channel. GS! Just keep doing what your doing. And we’ll tune in everyday.
Love. This. Channel. Great video against a superior aircraft, and I appreciate that you never deny your opponent their props when they score a good kill.
Like I've said before the f-16 will always be my favorite aircraft it's like the frigging miata of fighter jets its small nimble and fast. Its definitely a formidable foe in the hands of an experienced pilot.
This was very satisfying to watch. Great job!
Given that split throttle has more effect when the engines are further apart, I'd be interested to see a split throttle video with the SR-71. Not a dogfight, but just seeing what funky things you can make it do
Very nice, you gave lessons in the first round. Patience is a great thing!
Someone else already said this but i love how you go the underdog route in this bout and still give the Raptor a headache... excellent match up!
thanks for another great vid gs! these helped me through a hard time
Thanks GS I've been waiting for this one!
Hey GS, Thanks for making these videos. I always wanted to join the Indian Air Force but I couldn't, because of some medical problem. Your videos make my day. Keep Rocking Buddy. Love From India❤
sorry :/
Wholesome
Amazing video, as always!! Keep it up!
Every time I see or learn anything about the F-22 I'm more and more blown away. The maneuvers that plane can pull are absolutely insane.
I'm glad you did this! I made a "Day 1 request" and never followed up
That was an excellent falling leaf the f 22 did in round 1 and great flying on your part
Just clicked on this video after watching a 1991 clip of a pilot in an F-16 dodge 6 Iraqi missiles - without flares and chaff.
What a legend.
Crazy thing? He actually did have chaff and flares. However the dispenser didn’t work which meant that no chaff nor flare was dispensed.
Really exciting fight. Love how you just kept playing by the textbook. That's what a good pilot would do.
Man the F-16 is just amazing. Love it.
Tejas is better than F16
P@jeet kumar from mumbai slum
Brilliant flying in a beautiful aircraft. Keep 'em coming GS. Love the Viper.
Great video, as always!
Day 6 of asking for the F9F panther vs Mig 15’s
Based on the Lieutenant Royce Williams story where he fought 6 mig 15’s alone in his very inferior F9F
That merge at the start was SPICY! Loved the outside view of it
You keep posting videos I'll keep watching them. (Addicted to this channel).
Jammed the wez so hard I ended up crashing into the subscribe button. Love the channel!
Outstanding flying @GS. That’s the only way you survived that long in both rounds.
I watch these every day dude, you rock.
Damn, I was kinda hoping that you were gonna pull some differential thrust magic on the F22
The guy flying the f22 seemed like he didn’t know it well the pilot gave growling a lot more chances to kill him then he should of
Thank you for the work that you do. I watch everyday during the down time at work. Do you have any more of the blooper reels to show? You and Longshot seem to have a great time.
Another dcs vid lezgoo. Been keeping up with your uploads for over a month now 😎
Can you do night bvr/dogfights in DCS? Seems like a cool video idea.
nice your videos are great my best time of day getting home watching you dogfights i have learn alot..
Where was the F16 split throttle SMH! 😤
And here I was thinking, "it's not the plane, it's the pilot".
Both rounds were sick! Love how you were able to utilise the Viper's strength against the supposedly superior Raptor in the first round, though that victory was partly due to rather basic mistakes on the part of the Raptor pilot.
The second round saw improvement in performance of the Raptor, he definitely learned his lesson. And this round was also a textbook example of why you really DO NOT want to get slow in the Viper. A slow Viper is a dead Viper.
You know how you could _really_ challenge yourself in a one-circle against the Raptor? Try flying the MiG-29 Fulcrum against the Raptor using differential thrust in the one-circle. I know you love the Fulcrum and you've even managed to survive against the Raptor for a bit in the Fulcrum. So why not try it again, but with split-throttles this time?
Love your content as always, GS! You've just earned another subscriber.❤
Lol, dont get slow in the viper- its funny thinking about that, because below 350 is hornet/ superhornet territory....
Having said that though...in a ratebfight with the viper at its top rate turning, cant a raptor still outrate it? Or can it only aoa stomp it with nose pointing?
@@tippership
All the more reason to not get slow in the Viper.
As for who can out-rate who, I think it will be pretty close. I don’t know which of the two has a better sustained turn rate, but I think the difference is pretty slim such that it solely comes down to pilot skill.
Seeing the horizon /color contrast made my night.
That's why aggressor school is so important pilot skills and knowledge of the enemy
Your persistence on this videos are an inspiration!! Made me start this channel, kind of DCS for poor people 😂
The vapors that come off of the F-16 are always so cool
Your videos are great. Is there any way you can show your control inputs throughout a dogfight (stick throttle rudder)? That would be cool.
Imagine flying against yourself. GS in the F-22 vs GS in the F-16!! What a fight that would be!!Great video GS as always. NEXT!!At least you didn't have to rely on 9x's this fight.
I really enjoy your videos. You're like the Bob Ross of dogfights. Love it. I only hope I can get as good at it as you are. I just started a couple of weeks ago and barely can keep the P51 trainer in the air much less fighting with anyone. 😆
He really is the Bob Ross of dogfights, isn't he?
@@pedrobrunodeandrade He really is. He is so calm through an entire engagement. Just another nice day painting with bullets and missiles.
Do I detect a Canadian accent..? That might explain it.
@@n.w.1803 He might be. It would explain it, if he is. 🤔
Bob Ross was a 20-year man in the Air Force before re-inventing himself as an art instructor, his approach was heavily influenced by the Air Force protocol of starting at the upper deep sky and working one's way down and forward. ".....and now we've splashed the bandit, let's paint the sky with some happy little flares."
Literaly everyone: "smashes shoe on the ground, EMOTIONAL DAMAGE" GS:"This is some good training"
My friend says you deserve mad props
Another great video, only complaint would be my cigar lasts about 45 min. Video is only about 15 on average, and yea I have watched almost all of them. But love this creator.
Never commented before, watched alot of your videos, this one was great thx
the f-16 is a beast!
The minimalist and simple design of the falcon is really beautiful.
Amazing content bro :)
Close in gunfight with another aircraft that can sustain a 9G turn is going to be one exhausting exercise for the pilots. Exploiting every ounce of performance sitting calmly at a sim is good for understanding the limits of the platform...but actually DOING it for real would be more an athletic contest between pilots than battle of aircraft when they're at this performance level. Very entertaining stuff!
Love your videos can't get enough of them
Epic content, I look forward to every upload
Superb flying GS. That was an impressive display of patience and sticking to your gameplan. However where was the differential engine thrust maneuver for your F-16! /s XD
I swear, youtube has my mind bugged, i got done working and thought about watching your vids, and you pop up
I am really impressed!
I literally had a conversation about this exact fight at lunch today, just a few hours after this was uploaded. I said the f-22 can sit inside the turn circle of the 16 if they go 2 circle.
I have no words to appreciate this guy.
I've just realized how amazing the F16 is during turn fighting damn
I liked this one a lot! You were especially calm and objective. And it was a great exercise in patience and awareness by both pilots! Any chance you could take the MiG-23 for a spin, please? :)
Is it ready for a spin?
Cloud cover would seem to offer the Raptor pilot the option of going into the cloud, making an abrupt trajectory change, and coming back out where the other guy does not expect him to be. It might provide a couple seconds to maneuver for an attack while the other guy is looking somewhere else.
That's actually a really good idea that I haven't seen tried yet. Hopefully it will be tried in a future vid.
Yeah, in the first battle once he went into clouds there, I completely lost sight of him and was expecting him to suddenly pop out somewhere that wasn't expected.
My best guess is that GS would have lost sight for a moment but before during and after the clouds they were in a 2 circle, the raptor would have likely gone vertical or cash in energy to cut the circle and at the same time the f22 cannot see through the clouds either. Leaving the rate fight in the cloud could be a mistake.
@@blue98jettavr6t Naturally loss of visual works both ways, so you'd have to be smart about it. But might be useful in some cases. An IR tracking system with helmet cueing would be the countermeasure. But I think the way tech is moving, it will get to the point where "if you get this close, you've really screwed up".
Your welcome! And keep the videos coming
I'd love to see a video on methods for executing counter 2-circle maneuvers.
I've been watching your videos for a while, and I don't know if you've ever done the Eurofighter vs the su-57 I think it would be a good fight. Also thank you for making these videos your always giving good advice on what to do and what not to do during a dogfight.
first fight was insane great flying
I'm convinced Growling Sidewinder is becoming an Ace Combat lore channel
Love the content! Could you throw in some explanations on your abbreviations though for people who don't know, such as me. AOA and BFM for example. Thanks!
the falling leaf just hanging around is hilarious
I think it would be awesome if you did one of these fights with the other pilot's commentary in it. Maybe one or two relatively quick fights then a joint debrief in Tac View or even a replay of the fight.
Holy crap! Y'all could've high fived in that merge!
Fighting a superior airplane in prity much all aspects really shows your skills. Taking on the F22 no less. Great fight!
I would like to see one day,
F-22 vs ATE's Mirage 2000 !
I guess that could be a very interresting dogfight
Good work! John Boyd would be proud!
Very nice flying! Neat seeing planes compete and sometimes defeat the F22 in dcs.
I really appreciate that you show scenes from outside the cockpit for the cool stuff. So question- In your Opinion is the Viper the best 4th Generation dogfighter?
Yes, I would agree with that, the viper is the best 4th gen dogfighter (guns only)
"Splash one F-22" is not something you hear very often
The airshow is this weekend and I got to see the F-22 in all its glory today. After watching all of these vids I appreciate it SO much more. I cant wait to see the king of the skies on Sunday
nice! another GS vid!
That first merge you could open both your canopy’s and shake the other pilot’s hands 🫣
Your the best DCS pilot GS! 👌
I assume we will be seeing some super Sabre content soon! Excited!!but surprised no one’s done the F8… the last gun fighter lol
that first merge jumpscared me
