How to Extract Shadows & Highlights to New Layer Photoshop Tutorial | Photoshop Action

In this video you will learn how to separate the shadow and color elements of an image into separate layers using alpha channels. This essentially creates a shadow layer than can be used as a replacement for the Multiply layer style. Using the same technique you'll also learn to separate the highlights into another layer.
This process comes in very handy while creating a mockup template.

i just bought the action but i have a problem, when i play the shadow, the whole image is selected and appears red, instead of just the selection , what could be the problem here?
