Such a great choice! Loved the essays and the artwork, and thank you for reading us the vernal pool description.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the book and the little section I read about vernal pools!
Treated myself to a copy of this book and I am so glad I did. I adored it. Five star read plus five star artwork A beautiful book that I know I will go back to again and again. Only January and I’ve read one of the best books of the year! Thank you Doris and Heidi for introducing me to a new favourite. ❤
Yay! So glad to hear you loved it too! I will definitely be rereading this one. I thought the artwork was excellent.
Absolutely love your channel! Especially your nature selections. So grateful!
Thank you! I’m glad you find something to enjoy in my videos!
Thank you, Heidi! 😊
I really loved this book, as well!
Educational and poetic.
So lovely! 💚
Yes it was poetic, wasn’t it! Glad you enjoyed the read.
Such a visually beautiful book! Thank you for showing us the illustrations inside! Sounds like such a wonderful read as well. ❤
It was physically lovely but the words were equally gorgeous.
I loved The Comfort of Crows, an absolute warm hug of a book. Looking forward to reading the February choices🤗
It certainly was a warm hug of a book! I hope you enjoy the February choices as well.
Such a great read. Can’t wait to buy one.
You will love the hard copy.
Thanks, Heidi!🌷I’m happy to see that I can get the same edition, with the stunning cover and artwork, also here in the Netherlands. Very much looking forward to reading it!
That is excellent news! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
I really really appreciate this book. I think Margaret Renkl is very nice and interesting person. I like the mix of her personal life and the observation of the nature. She says all her thoughts in a very caring way. Thanks for having choose this book.
I also enjoyed the mix of her personal reflections and the nature observations. She is a lovely person. I am glad you joined us for this read!
Loved this book! Excited to join you in real time in Feb with books I haven't read before :)
Yay! Glad you will be playing along in February!
Such a super great read -- her next book will be an automatic buy. As I read the book I found myself relaxing and smiling.
I love this! I will also read her next book. It made it smile as well.
Oh, boy! I am requesting this from the library immediately!
It is really lovely!
I’m going to read her book Graceland now because I loved her other two so much. Great read! Perfect way to start the year. 🤓😻
I need to read Graceland too! I am so glad you liked the book. It was a great way to start off the year.
I will definitely pick up this book in the future! I actually bought it for my Dad for Christmas and I think it will be for him for sure after hearing your review
What an awesome gift for your dad! Maybe he will let you borrow it when he is done! 😆
I enjoyed The Comfort of Crows - it kicked off my current nonfiction hyperfocus 😂 Really lovely.
Nice! I am happy to hear you have embarked on a nonfiction kick!
I'm still waiting for this from my library. It's taking so long ... now I want to read it even more.
It is a truly lovely book! I hope your library hold comes in soon.
I meant to join in with this read, but then used up my Hoopla slots to get it. I’ll catch up with it later this year since it seems everyone loves it.
It is totally worth your time!
The Renkel book sounds great. I still haven't read Late Migrations so I hope to read that soon. I read A Darker Wilderness last year and it doesn't have any fiction. I will say the essays were not all entirely about nature, but it is always a component of the essay. I didn't dislike the book, but I liked some essays a lot more than others. I think it is worth reading to see some very different perspectives on the nature.
Thank you for filling me in on A Darker Wilderness. It is good to know what to expect. Essay collections are like that, some good and some bad.
love nature pics😁😊
It seems like nature books are having a good moment! There are so many good ones lately!
I will read the book later in the year. I tried the audio on scribd a week or so ago (yes, I started late, I admit) and it just didnt work for me. But I'm all set for Black Faces, White Spaces for this month 😃
I feel like I wouldn’t like Comfort of Crows on audio. The illustrations and feel of the book added to the experience. Hopefully the February book will go better.
Lovely review of a lovely book! 🥰
Thank you! It was a great way to start off the year!
