To Tim's point about the bad audio mix: The 4K Blu-ray has a newly remastered Dolby Atmos track that adds in all the detail that was lost over the car noise in previous versions. The visual quality is also greatly improved with the upscale and HDR.
Literally, it's my favorite when Nick takes over and makes the podcast within a podcast and Andy has to think on his feet haha. Tim's face just watching what was about to happen was HILARIOUS.

The Mad Max series and Fallout both draw a ton of inspiration from the 1975 movie "A Boy and His Dog". Its worth a watch.

I visited the Mad Max 2 museum in Silverton NSW back in 2016. Pretty cool place near where the filming took place. So cool to be on the roads from the film. Apparently you can still find car debris out in the bush to this day!

I love these movies, I'm glad you guys are reviewing it. Like Andy, the first time I watched Mad Max, it was easily my least favorite, it didn't hit me. But years later, after Fury Road, I saw Mad Max again and it was phenomenal and really, as a piece of storytelling, just fantastic. But also, yeah, Road Warrior is this unbelievable beast of violence and fun and creativity, it's hard for it not to be the favorite or second favorite to Fury Road. These movies are something special. Thunderdome is my least favorite, but haven't watched it since the first time. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the original trilogy as a whole and who knows I may get a new perspective that makes me appreciate Thunderdome.

The Road Warrior is that special kind of film that is so influential it’s borderline become forgotten. It is the blueprint for so many books, films, tv shows, and video games that a lot of folks have forgotten it over these later IP. Obviously the film is iconic in the hardcore film community but it’s so rare to get a film like this that defines an entire genre, and a generation of creatives either knowingly or unknowingly basing their own work off of this films ideas.

Higher octane fuel is just able to withstand higher pressures without igniting prematurely. our association to sports or racecars is because many of them have higher compression ratios and are much more susceptible to knock (mistimed ignition) which can be disastrous to an engine (higher octane has the same energy density of normal fuel, so it doesn't give a car more power or efficiency)
I really hope Andy learns man who sold the world for furiosa in review. Big request but his music really brings the show together for me. (SAW became my fav in review because of the constant keyboard)

Fun fact, Nick: the lens flares in the Star Trek made by JJ Abrams aren't real lol. The head of the group that did the CG for the movie is just so used to how anamorphic lenses SHOULD look that he insisted that they put in the flares 🤣
