@ramsay4804 I already had a XMaxx was deciding on either a super rock ray or this. But might even just get a 10th scale crawler since mines a little worn out. I have had good luck with Redcat in the past and liking the new tiny crawler. What do you think the Short falls of this rig are? Maybe someone that bashes hard needs one to test its durability. I did like how beefy the xmaxx was built but I do like the lools of this truck as well.
Redcat said in their live stream there are metal dowels inside the chassis at that split. They also mentioned it is all set to take the 200 amp ESC and larger motor. I like they put limiting straps on the truck from the factory. Solid review as always Greg.
I can't justify buying this over an Arrma Kraton. With that said, I might just do it to support another company so that we can keep the competition going. We need new releases like this to keep Arram and Traxxas on their toes. Otherwise, they get lazy with releases when they have no competition. I have the Kraton & XRT. So far the Kraton has been a much better truck. The XRT is always breaking. The stock motor mount is horrible. For some reason, the XMAXX is much more durable than the XRT even though they are the same platform. XMAXX and Kraton EXB are kings. Team Corally came out with the 1/8 Kagama which is an indestructible beast. I would love to see them make a 1/5th scale 8s version of the Kagama in a truck body and wheels. That would really drive the competition.
Arrmas are garbage. I own 2 and they break every time we run them and we’re not even hard on our RC’s. We own 6 Redcat’s, crawlers and Bashers and they’ve never broken. Redcat’s engineers do their research and make things better than their competitors at a fraction of the price

I spoke to Redcat on the phone right before the new year and told them I was heartbroken they were discontinuing the MT 10e and how it’s my favorite 10 scale monster truck of all time for the skate park. I reminded them that even though the Granite is unbelievably tough and may be faster out of the box, it couldn’t touch the MT10e in durability once the servo savers upgraded and you add the front and back chassis guards. We even spoke about the Rival MT10e and how everyone thinks it’s the toughest 10 scale! And TRUST ME it’s not! The Rival just like the Helion Avenge will eventually break at the front bulkhead and that’s why they sell them so cheap. It’s brutally tough, but no way is it as tough as the old Redcat MT10e! That thing once I upgraded the servo saver was probably tougher than my Tekno MT or my Losi Ten platform. In fact, it’s probably the toughest RC I’ve ever had out of over 50! Tougher than my serpent or my Mugen! The point of this story is they told me three months ago what’s replacing it is going to be tougher! 😂 I told them I doubt it but cool, and the guy said we tested it extensively it’s going to handle better and be tougher. I like the new clipless options, but I’m also so old school that body clips are totally fine by me too. Makes aftermarket body options easier to install.
@boduke - Agreed, clipless bodies don’t hold up for bashers. I’m the same way, every third landing, my xmaxx body pops off and I have to chase it down. Would much rather spend an extra few secs putting it on than doing the walk of shame and reattaching it 10 times a pack. I thought clipless was great when I first got it but not anymore lol. How tough was it to get to the center diff? Curious for maintenance and whatnot. What does it use for a center axle? A tube like traxxas or bones? Had a bit of rear hop on the bigger jumps. Could probably limit that a bit with different oil in the shocks. The max6g2 system would probably perk it up a bit. 43mph did seem a bit slow... then again, my xmaxx was slow with stock gearing/motor/esc in it. Having a system to put it at 60mph feels "fast" to me with belted or wrapped tires. At least they didn't lock things in like traxxas to force you to buy a aftermarket motor mounts and whatnot. They might have observed a kevin talbot video when he installed the split centre driveshaft with the bearing in the middle
Nice review!
That's a great rig for the price! Needs MO PUNCH
Looks promising. Way to go redcat. Good review Greg! 👍
It's a Great looking truck. Reminds me of its little brother HSP Octane 👍👌
Hey I recognize this spot, this is Falcon field. I use to throw my REVO 3.3 around here back in the day
Great video, that thing needs a motocross track.
