  • A range of tangential face milling cutters and inserts for heavy roughing has been launched by Dormer Pramet.
An important addition to Pramet brand’s wide assortment of milling products for heavy machining, the tangential mounting of the new robust double-sided inserts ensures rigid clamping. This results in good impact strength and cost efficient machining due to both high feed and cutting depth capabilities.
For use on Pramet’s S60LN15C cutter, with a 60° approach angle, the tangential inserts LNEX are suitable for face milling of cast iron and steel in heavy machining conditions.

Proud to be a PRAMET Distributor...! My customers love the performance at their economical price point. Much less than the "BIGGER" name brands and good tech support as well. Try them, you wont be disappointed.

What I love about tangential cutters is when the insert goes, it always rips the head off the screw and destroys your cutter.

Wow! Just gobsmacked at how much metal it moves and how fast! Is there a performance standard or rating for cutters like this? Be great to see some competition cutting? Marks for rate, volume and finish? Let's see who is the cutter champion! Cutter Wars? You heard it here first!

    Depth of cut - yes
    Speed - full
    Feed rate - SEND IT

    That's a really quiet cutter

The tools been balanced and I imagine they put an anti-vibration noise reducing stem like sandvik use in their silent tool range

Carlos - Probably uses variable tooth spacing to reduce resonance. Plus, the cutting faces are angled to project a lot of the forces upwards. Still pretty impressive watching it cut. This isn’t a 40 taper Chinese machine they’re using, let’s put it that way.

Good day Sirs. can you please recommend me some machines ? Europe made, vertical milling center, 3 axes, 1400(+)mm X axe, 600m(+) Y/Z axe. With fanuc/Siemens or Heidenhain CNC. I look for rigid machine for steel forged blank milling, about 25-30 mm metal allowance there. I understand I need 2-3 cutter passes to mill it. I look machine 2001-2008 yom. I would like a machine with rolling guides, they are easier to repair ...I have some Taiwan's machines, they worked fine 25000 spindle hours but I cut there 3mm, iso 40 tooltaper...now I want sk50 or.something strong :)
    Kind regards :)

If you have the work that calls for this tool you better put it in the right machine, a DMG Mori or Mazak. They are build to cut 4140 fast and hard day after day. This tool and others like it will not hurt the spindles in those machines. Heck, even if you run it in a Haas, if you have jobs that need this cutter, you are making enough $$ that replacing a spindle for $8000 is not than big a deal (until your servos and ways crap out)

How so? Applied correctly; and more importantly in the right machinery, there’s not a darn thing wrong with aggressive face milling.
