It's really straight forward. Pluck the leaves and set them on a damp paper towel. Put under light and be patient. Thats pretty much the recipe for propagating pinguicula. Pings are a pretty low maintenance and more tolerant carnivorous plant. They are great for putting in your window sill, unlike many other carnivorous plants that need stronger light.

Thank you again friend, greatly appreciate you checking it out!!
I love pings! Great for indoor growing!
They really are!
Thank youuu I was just about to propogate mine
Right on! Good timing!
Thanks for the propagation video!
Bought a ping that just arrived it had a leaf that had something growing from it, while still being on the mother plant.
Was it a primulaflora? They will grow babies right off the end of leaves! Only ping that does that!
Hi I’m back carnivorous plant hub after a long hiatus I received my North American Pinguicula Primuliflora on February 26 of 2022 it’s doing well inside my bedroom I have it in my bedroom’s window which is a west facing window
Right on, you will love it! Welcome back!
I’m now also 17 years old yes my hiatus was that long
Ha! I totally remember, it has been a long time! Glad your back!
I love your videos and I got a new Venus flytrap
Right on! Where did you get it from?
My Sethos is coloring up nice
Hello! I use Burkey water filter. Can i use this kind of water for my Butterwort? New to this. Just purchased my plant so going to pick up my plant on monday.
I'm looking at doing some propagation with my Weser ping. I'm just curious when you use cling film to cover them do you have any holes poked in the cling film to allow any air access?
I don't poke any holes. I open it up once every few days and let them air out a bit though. I don't see any problem poking holes as long as the moisture doesn't escape too much!
@@CarnivorousPlantsHub okay thanks, I wasn't sure whether to close completely and let them get fresh air every few days or give them continuous air flow. Thanks for clarifying, I've done a couple of pullings from my Weser, esseriana and cyclosecta hoping for success 👍
Personally I'd use surgical tweezers.
Ya, that's actually a good idea. I'll need to be better about using tweezers.
How to report the propagations?
How often do you spray them with water during those 30 days?
I never let them completely dry out. It just depends on temperatures and how tight the dome is. If it's a tight dome and temps aren't too high, probably once in 30 days. But, I'd check it every week or so, just to make sure it's not drying out.
Does it matter which side of the pingy leaf goes up?
Not really. They tend to grow out of the point that you broke off. So I try to make sure it's not pointing down.
Why are my leaves turning translucent?
Question do you think you can take care of a darlingtonia californica aka cobra lily I’m getting though yes I know they’re hard to care definitely putting mines once I get them indoors since I live in Miami fl
Thats one that I haven't been able to commit to yet. Maybe some day, but for right now, probably not. They are incredible plants bur are infamously hard to grow. Some day for sure!
Cobra Lilly is not hard. Just make sure they get their tray water cold as their roots like it cooler and don't keep in full sun. If it's too hot where you live, use a Styrofoam cooler to keep their water cooler. I have even put ice cubes in the water to keep the temperature cool. They prefer morning sunshine not the hot afternoon heat. My father has grown them for years this way. Thanks and keep on loving them, I do!
@@lorigraham8598 that’s exactly what I do I live in Miami fl so I bought a vacuum insulated dog bowl as a tray I put my fridge ice with distilled water to keep the roots cool also give it a lot of shade but they still get a little bit of morning sun outside the thing with darlingtonia is you have to experiment with the plant to see what it likes before it’s to late though I’ve only had for 3 days so far it hasn’t stressed out I have a pinguicula primulaflora and once put it in direct sunlight it was stressed out in about 24 hours later and put it in shade
Do you know of any Mexican pings that don't need the dry dormant stage I can put in my terrarium?
My understanding with Mexican Pings is that none of them require a dormancy. They will go into a succulent stage if exposed to less light and colder temps, but this isn't necessary for their health. They are great for terrariums due to the tolerance to humidity and no need to be put into a dormant stage. Make sure to do your research for each induvial plant as there are always exceptions to the rule, but most Mexican Butterworts should be good for a terrarium.
@@CarnivorousPlantsHub Would they grow in long fibered sphagnum moss?
I have not personally grown them that way but I don't see any reason why they wouldn't. They are pretty tolerant with substrate.
They will go better with very low light. If you do 2 to 3 cuts on 1 leaf you can get Multiple plants
Jeremy, tell me more! I'm pretty new to propagating pings, was surprised how easy it was to be honest. So, you are saying to cut the pullings down even more and they will produce even more new plants? Does this work on all ping leaf pulling's?
Distilled water, right?
Yes! Pings can be a bit more tolerant but i still recommend distilled water. Or any water that has a very low dissolved solid count.
I have huge pinguicula. I didnt follow any single advice for it, just handled as normal plant. If i pull one of the leaves, it would not break, it would pull all plant out.
