Bishop Rance Allen (November 19, 1948 - October 31, 2020), was an American Bishop, Minister, and gospel musician, and the founder and leader of the famed Rance Allen Group. Known for his extremely wide vocal range and powerful singing voice, Allen became known as the main lead vocalist and the leader of the influential group.
He was the senior pastor of the New Bethel Church Of God In Christ in Toledo, Ohio, since its July 1985 establishment. In November 2011, Rance Allen was elevated to the office of Bishop in the Church of God in Christ, for the Michigan Northwestern Harvest Jurisdiction. Allen was born in 1948 in Monroe, Michigan to Thomas and Emma Pearl Allen. He had 11 siblings: six sisters and five brothers. Allen founded the Rance Allen Group in Detroit in 1969 joined by his brothers Thomas and Steve. Allen was married to First Lady Ellen Marie Allen (née Groves). The two were married on December 1, 1970. The couple had no children together.
Allen and his group had performed with many gospel musicians throughout the country, including Andrae Crouch, Marvin Winans, Bebe and Cece Winans, the Clark Sisters, Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, Tye Tribbett, Shirley Caesar, and Donnie McClurkin. He also performed for President Barack Obama at a White House Celebration of Gospel Music and was nominated for five Grammy Awards.
Allen died on October 31, 2020 from complications due to a recent medical procedure.

I can truly understand why Kurt feels the way he do Bishop Allen was such a sweet man he always was the same person when you would see him. he was just kind hearted and a people's person. never a nasty attitude like some of the other singers may have , I pray that some of the other artists will learn something from this

Keep in mind he is grieving.
One of the other preachers said Rance told him he felt like he deserved a piece of something about that name Jesus and another song he sang on...he implied he wasn't getting paid as big as that record was...Rance confided in him it's the preacher from NC who came out and said it...I am not sure what he meant for sure but it sounds like Rance either didn't get credit or royalties...the proceeds from the tribute may not sell like a record sung by Rance...I hope Kirk didn't do Rance like that.

Kirt Franklin had my full attention, until hee started talking about Money..what personal affairs belong in a tribute to a great legendary gospel icon like Bishop R Allen....I stop watching, felt disappointed ..the beginning was heart felt with warming words, " Death is not easy, but I'm glad it's not forever "..remembering Bishop Allen with respect, love, compassion..He will always be remembered, loved and missed by all who knew him....
You need to finish watching because it's important. Words are JUST that, but when it's All over, the family WILL need help! 'He's' promising to Help! What are YOU promising to do, but to Cry and Remember him? You and I both know, That DOES NOT Pay Bills.

But if you believe that theres no death to the saints that the saints entered into rest and have ceased from there labor then rejoice you got something to be glad about why should saints be somber to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord.
