I wanna know this as someone from Oakland who lost 3 teams….. why was snapdragon stadium built in the same spot as the old qualcomm stadium ? Why didn’t they just build a bigger stadium and keep the chargers there that’s so silly to me ! To knock down a big stadium to build a smaller one !

San Diego has similar issues to Oakland. Majority of city leadership doesn't treat their pro sports teams needs as infrastructure and a pressing need. They also are too in love with red tape to get projects of this magnitude built efficiently. They move so slow that even a potential NHL-worthy new arena is taking so long to build (and like 90% of it will be privately funded, too).If they moved with urgency, the Chargers would still be there. SDSU, since they have a different public body they answer to, was able to get their stadium built quickly.
Good news is that there are other suburbs in San Diego County (and leadership) serious about getting the NFL back. Hopefully those leaders will move up the political ranks and take over San Diego so that it can become an NFL city once again!

@maxkeebs4425 it really sucks not having a professional sports football team. I love it here but I am thinking about moving where there's a professional NBA or NFL team. It was such a good conversation to talk about with random people during the season. (I'm not into baseball but I support it just cause)

I don't think we're ever getting a professional football team again which sucks
