- Part of the National Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Prep Course, this is designed to be an asset and resource for future pesticide applicators or seasoned veterans looking to study prior to retaking their certification exam.
Chapter 1 of the National Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Manual is all about Pest Management. This will be a distilled version of Chapter 1 from the National Pesticide Applicator Core Manual.
The goal is to increase your odds at passing the exam. The National Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Exam has a 70% fail rate. We attribute this to the fact that most people are visual learners in todays world. So, rather than reading all 168 pages of the National Pesticide Applicator Core Manual, here is a video that will help you through visually learning as well as listening to the words and concepts.

Does this test cover all chapters or just chapter 1?
@stevenvander2575 the practice tests covers every chapter and the questions are broken down by chapter.
This was so that way you could see what chapters you need to study more and what you are struggling to retain.
The actual exam will jump around, but the exam I created allows you to dial in and focus on your weak points.
Update.
I watched every chapter on the core. I watched them about 3 times each to really drive the info in.
Took the test this morning and passed with a 92% in Missouri.
Use these videos plus some common sense and you’ll fly through the test and pass with ease. Thank you again for taking the time to make these videos. Without it there’s no way I would have passed.

do you happen to have a printable study guide for private pesticide applicator?
I do not have anything for the private core. Only commercial. Essentially, they are the same material with only slight differences in regards to the law.
Private applicators can only treat on private property. Generally orchards, farms, nurseries. If you want to go out and serve clients at their property, you need a commercial license.
Passed with a 91 in NY.

I’m currently looking into this, and in Michigan, west side of, but none the less. I started just taking care of my own 1 acre woodsy property. Now neighbors and family want me to come spray their property and maintain them seasonally, for mosquitoes and bull gnats mainly…so, I’m now looking up how to do this, to get started in the right direction and get my own bug spray business going…
Awesome! In Michigan, you need two season's working as a Certified Applicator for a company before you can start your own firm. Or, you need a bachelor's degree in a similar field.
It's one of the things I dislike about Michigan's laws; not very small business friendly.

Love your video series. Can you tell me where I could buy a hard copy of the book from a credible source that can be trusted. I'm new to this is I am in the beginning stages of trying to start the process to study and get my license. Came across your video series the other day. Love the content very educational and helpful compared to other videos I've come across thank you for all your hard work and putting this together. Great stuff!! Question I’m taking applicator exam in 2 weeks in Los Angeles California will this study guide you created help ? Do the tests vary from state to state ?
The national core is the same. The biggest difference is the local laws. Check the dept of Agriculture for a california adendum which will have California specific information.

You'll have to check your states Department of Agriculture for any New York specific information.
They may have an adendum like we do here in Michigan.
As far as the National core goes, that is the baseline of information for all of the United States. Then, States produce their own laws and regulations to accompany the core.
I’m trying to get my certification in Pa this month, I’m also taking Category 23 and whatever the Lawn & Turf one is, do you plan on doing categories as well? Awesome video by the way!
I do plan on doing category specific presentations.
In michigan we don't have a category 23 🤣 so, not sure I can help there.
This year my goal is to get turf, ornamentals, right of way, mosquitos, and general pest.

The core is national and covers every state. However, there are likely state specific laws and regulations that you will need to learn.
Does this apply to California? I see a lot of ppl bringing up Michigan. Is it different?
The core is a national book. All states go off of the core. The main differences will be local laws. Usually each state has an adendum of laws and regulations that are state specific. Here in Michigan we have an adendum.
I would imagine, with California being as strict as they are, they will too. Check your land grant university for California and the department of Agriculture in California for more information.

This is the National Core Manual for the United States. No idea if it is similar or not in Canada.
However, there is likely information that is universal that would help you.
Question, can I use this for a QAL test in California?
That I am not 100% on. But, it cannot hurt as it's all federal information and general knowledge.

This will cover the natuonal core. The National core is for all 50 states. The additional material you will need to study is California specific laws and regulations.

Careful about these free CZcams videos, and their sameple tests. For 1) while I am currently studying for the core exam, I have been watching a ton of these videos and have notice they make a lot of contradictory statements through out course.."I thought you said back in chapter 3...Yada Yada yada". 2) be very careful as to what state you are in. Yes it's a "NATIONAL" Core exam, but here in the state of Florida, we have a ton of "limited exemptions" because as you have already learned in your studies, states have the right to enact more stringent "ammendments" to the current existing Federal regulations, laws, and rules. It definitely will cause you to get some answers wrong...and if it's as hard it seems to be made out to be..NO ONE can afford to automatically get some answers wrong.

I would love to know if you've found anything contradictory in our series.
As for state specific content, every state is different in their laws and regulations. Anyone that has ever asked, "does this apply to XYZ state?" I have responded with it being the natuonal core content and every state has its own laws and regulations.
As for our practice exam that we launched, it is solely based on the national core book. There is zero state specific content.
The feedback has been quite good from those that have taken it and then taken their actual exams. Most have scored 86% plus. Many of which have gotten scores around 96% on the core.
