Yeah slower and lower helps, if I lower the blade it helps a lot but I keep it high because I have so many rocks and mole hills, my blades are also very dull because of the mole hills and rocks, this mower also came with Finish mower blades and brush cutting blades, I assume that the Finish blades would cut much cleaner but I have never installed the finish blades because I only mow tall fields with too many rocks and things.😀

I haven’t used a pto flail mower but, if I lower the cut it does cut better but I have so many rocks and mole hills that I keep it a bit high, also my blades are not very sharp because of the rocks and mole hills I run over so much. Also it came with 2 sets of blades, brush cutting blades and Finish mower blades, I have never tried the finish mower blades but they are flat and sharp. Good question 😀
I would say 3 acres, this time it probably took me 4 hours because it was so overgrown but normally I cut it at half this height and it’s probably under 3 hours just estimates because I have never timed it
That sounds about right. A rate of 1 acre/hour is reasonable. One of our fields next to the creek is 2 acres and is too wet to regularly mow. It dries out enough around memorial day for the initial mow of the year. With an ATV and pull behind brush hog, it took about 2 hours, with grass anywhere from 3'-5' tall. I have a Craftsman garden tractor similar to yours that I use with the regular deck after I get it all knocked down and mow that field a few times in the summer. The cows munch down our other fields and I use the Craftsman to mow down the dead stuff in the summer. @@frugallandlord6974
I don’t believe that I said they were a new thing but many people have never seen one with an engine on them, although there are some from the 60s I believe but many people have just seen the pto driven ones for tractors.

People spend $30,000 on a compact tractor and brush mower to do this. You get it done for a lot less!
