In this episode, we explore New Vegas's the Powder Gangers cut content, including an examination of the NCRCF, unused armor, NPC's, quests, maps, creatures, dialogue and more. the powder gangers are so interesting to me, especially their van buren counterparts. I wish they played a bigger role.
The 219 Rail Line Powder Gang is unfortunately, a lot more interesting than how they appeared in FNV. It's too bad they didn't have the Powder Ganger's threaten a major settlement like in VB.
It's clear that most of the secondary factions didn't get a chance to be fleshed out. If the legion had already a lot, and I mean A LOT, of cut content just imagine the rest. Without it, the Powder Gangers are reduced to Fiends that don't do drugs
Nah, you can befriend them for infinite dynamite and pistol powder
I mean they have an interesting backstory at least.
Insane how much more depth there was to them - in the final version, the Powder Gang are basically just an easy xp grab with no reason to side with them due to lack of content. It's cool that you can double-cross them at the end of the quest, but having some internal intrigues sounds even better, as does using turrets, which are criminally underused in New Vegas.
There really isn't, not when compared to the NCR. The Scrambler questline in particular would've gone a long way. That a really good point too. I never considered how few turrets there are in FNV
I always felt a tiny bit of it missed especially how you can be "friends" with them and quickly sell them out and such it felt all bizzarerly odd and short for how it is anyway as it was only for a single small place in the beggining areas and nthing more
you could have a story or character reason to side with them.
The only place I have seen turrets were HELIOS ONE and I think the BOS BUNKER
@@zxgaming4426 There's some more in Fortification Hill's Securitron Bunker, Vault 11, Camp Searchlight. Think there might also have been ones in HH Tools, the Lucky 38 and of course the DLC areas, but all in all they have a negligible presence throughout FNV's wasteland.
The amount of content cut is more storytelling and engagement then the entirety of fallout 4
Albert Twangle fallout 4 has worst story telling then fallout new Vegas even if it’s fun, that’s an objective fact quantified by amount of dialogue written and reviews. Don’t get triggered

I assume it is. Try to mod as much as it into the game as possible.
Simply Uncut adds a lot of this cut content back to the game, it’s even voiced. It’s clearly a different VA voicing the unused lines but they do a pretty decent job at it.
It also adds the cut “release the bighorners” option in the Run Goodsprings Run quest, and adds Hawkins (powder Ganger in Quarry Junction who you always find dead in the base game) as a companion.

Really good mod -- such a shame that the mod author got bullied by the toxic fanbase so they quit.
Hawkins was a great companion with excellent voice acting and a really funny personality -- easily the highlight of the whole mod -- it's just a shame that his companion quest is broken and will never be fixed because the mod author has abandoned the project.
@@moondrip2163 I was actually working with the team for a little bit, gave some advice when the whole Frontier fiasco was going on (which basically amounted to stay the hell out of it). When kvatchcount left I did too.
It's a damn shame cause there was a lot of stuff being planned that I was really excited for as a mod user, like more stuff for Hawkins regarding factions and BoS knights patrolling Forlorn Hope if you made the alliance.
@@cfranklin2016 So is the bug with Hawkins engaging in a staring contest with his daughter instead of talking a common bug that was left unfixed, or is it just me?
It's bad enough that the mod never reached it's fullest potential, but it's such a dang shame that one of the highlights already here is left in such a sorry state.
@@moondrip2163 I remember it being a mod conflict of some kind. I think it only showed up in mod lists that had one of someguy's mods installed, but I can't recall which one; it MIGHT be Russel, since I know Niner had an issue with one of his quests if that mod is installed, but I could be completely misremembering (especially cause I used pretty much all his mods lmao).
Another tidbit, there were actually plans to make an unofficial patch for BNW; wouldn't have been able to upload to the Nexus because Dracomie disapproved of it, but it would've been available through the discord for those who wanted it. No clue on the status of it now, I think it was pretty close to completion before I left though (since I think SU and BNW only really shared like, five characters or so.)
My guess on the female tests: to check for clipping for the female armor meshes. Nothing more tbh.
Ah interesting. The gang they were based on from Van Buren had female members, so I figured it was possible. That makes way more sense though, particularly considering there's no other remnant of female PG's.

Considering how the Powder Gangers are potrayed in game, its likely that if there were female inmates, the male inmates likely... had a good time with them.

They were something of my favorite faction in the game because of the lack of content. So much potential lost.
Despite how much was cut, it was a masterpiece. All games have cut content, but few games are interesting enough for fans to document it.

I mean I always wanted to gangbang out in the wastes and the Powder Gangers are the best choice for that, too bad they weren’t fully fleshed out
@@plissken94th57 good news! There's a mod called New Vegas Uncut, that adds a ton of cut stuff shown on the channel. It includes the C block, a female hostage, the scrambler coup, Hawkins the Powder Ganger companion for a non-legion evil follower, adding a PG bartender to Goodsprings if you take it for Joe Cobb just so Trudy's absence doesn't make it hard to get a drink there, and a few quests for the npcs like the medicine book or cracking the safe. The same mod author also made two independent mods that add female and ghoul gangbangers to the group with really good VAs they hired for them, along with more interactive lines for the Mojave's change through the main quest. There's also this other small quest mod on the nexus that adds an npc with two more quests in the prison to add more stuff to do.
There's also another mod called "Working on the Chain Gang", which is a quest mod made to flesh out the Powder Ganger faction that was released this year. Great questline, awesome new weapons, decent voice acting -- the hallmarks of a proficient quest mod.
I look forward to a mod being made for this in a week or so.
I hope so. Unfortunately none of the dialogue remains for any of it, so you'd have to revoice the entire prison essentially.

Just wanted to state that there should be a separate ending for I Fought the Law when siding with the NCR as it makes absolutely no logical sense why they would abandon the facility after taking it back especially if the NCR won Hoover Dam.

I actually heard the quote about the truce they offer in their camps. After messing around and shooting up the strip, I fast traveled to the strip gate entrance. Out of nowhere, a random generic powder ganger approached and initiated conversation with this quote. In my hundreds of hours of playtime, I never heard this before and felt this quote was out of place. This happened on the xbox one / 360 version.
Yeah you can strangely hear those lines, even though the camps were never completed to actually reinforce that dialogue lol
I experienced that aswell, similarly I was on xbox
I also got the dialogue. There’s a Powder Ganger in the NCRCF Visitor Center wearing a cowboy hat who you can speak too, and he will always have the dialogue from what I can tell. As long as you’re Neutral with the Powder Gangers when you talk to him, and not wearing a disguise.
In My NCR Playthrough, Some MP Jumped Me In Michael Angelo's Workshop For Fighting The NCR Despite Being In The Liked Status
I heard the quote from the first NPC in the visitor center and I have also seen the Guard dogs and had them attack me when I wasn't sided with Powder Gangers and be Passive when I sided with them. Some of the stuff in this guy's Earlier videos seem to be half-assed and not looked into that much. I Experienced this on Xbox as well.
This was certainly one of the factions that made you go "Wait, that's it?"

I do wish that the gang could have had all this content, but I also suppose that out of all the factions to have content cut from I'm glad it was this one. Their small scope is excusable as a sort of a "tutorial" faction to introduce the player to faction systems and still got a fair bit of content via the ones who fled to the vault. That being said, they are a sorely missed faction for evil playthroughs but, hey, what else is new for NV haha.

I agree. If any faction had to be cut significantly, I'm glad it was the Powder Ganger's. It definitely would've been nice more options for an evil playthrough though.

If you're interested, there are two mods that aim to expand the faction more: "Simply Uncut" (applies a LOT of cut content in the game plus some bonus original content) and "Working on the Chain Gang" (a decent quest mod with great voice acting that fleshes out the faction more. It's not strictly for evil characters though.)
Don't know how I found this, but I'm glad I did. This is such a great video btw, brings back so many good memories of the game.

Would have awesome to have them assist you with blowing up the dam, brotherhood bunker, monorail, or even one step further having the kings assimilate them and teach about honour and Having there uniforms reflect prison elvis or them joining the Legion.
Honestly the one with The Kings is actually a pretty good idea. The Dam could be a post independent/Yesman ending kick to the dick to the NCR. I don't think they would last half an hour against the BOS, or in McCarren.

You can tell from the final game that the Powder Gangers were once an important faction in some original draft of the script. It was a bit of a shock the second time I played New Vegas and realized how quickly they became totally irrelevant in the game's narrative.
They were intended to be very important to Van Buren

Love your vids man, it's a shame how much content got cut if given a full delopment cycle of 3 years and at least the creation engine it could've been even greater than what it is now. I just hope the outer worlds can compare to the writing and attention that new vegas has.

I wonder if both Powder Ganger groups could've joined the Legion instead of the ones at Vault 19.
It still bothers me that you can speak to Cobb, find the prison, kill them and return to him before the goodsprings fight but you can't bring it up with him.
I know he took a group out with him beforehand so he didn't need to go back for reinforcements but still.
That's a really good point. I guess they didn't take into consideration that you might skip the Goodsprings questline for later. Given, that's would've been an unlikely sequence of events, but it still would've been cool to see.
Even fallout 4s raiders tend to do this better. If you take out a raider groups leader or second in command or enemy, another raider will mention it on their terminal.
I have seen the guard dogs and Heard must of the voice-overs about being a friend/enemy.

Actually it's technically a tenth of the way complete if you consider the stuff they planned that we know about and I mean the stuff that is not cut content because they had not even started working on it yet and yet is still has far more content and better content than Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 possibly even combined definitely better content than both of them combined.
@@hideakiakio6698 But you also must consider content that was cut due to console & engine limitations. Tho the content that cut simply due to lack of time is what stings the most. (For me at least.) Hopefully F4NV can rectify almost all these issues.

The missing quests also explain why it's impossible to get idolized with the Powder Gangers, even if you do every available quest in their favor, including bombing NCR and Legion in Lonesome Road. The only faction for which this is impossible.

This has been said before and will probably be said on every video from this channel- We want a New Vegas remaster OR at least a re-release on modern systems with all the stuff which couldn't be added due to console limitations.
Would've been interesting if they used scrambler a undercover frumentarii for the legion making the prison and legion camp and maybe even get extra manpower for them as well as a new base of operations deep into west, this all cycling back together to the second band in the vault creating with the khans and fiends a ring around mcCarran's flank
Maybe have Eddie have you look into Niptons slaughter seeing how some gangers were killed there by the legion

Despite that I dislike the powder ganger I will admit I love their armor appearance. Its basically a civilian clothing with a large bulletproof vest.

Once I visited that traveling merchant NPC, on Goodsprings Sources there appeared NCR Ranger and he was just sitting and drinking water on the hill all the time. I played NV with all DLCs in 2019 last time when it happened

Wow sounds like powder gangers would've been a Dark brotherhood style evil faction. I remember on one of my playthroughs allying with powder gangers and it gave me nothing and I always wondered why. The NCRCF feels so empty when it was supposed to be major action against the NCR. A lot like the situation with the Great Khans. OH well I think some modders have recreated some of these scenarios in the video already!
One of my mods adds new guards and warden after you take the prison. Very cool
10:21 - Is the NCR squad _supposed_ to kill the Powder Gangers? That never happens in my playthroughs. The NCR troopers usually kill the outdoor Powder Gangers without hassle, but once they get inside Eddie's HQ, they are quickly killed by Eddie's bodyguards. Eddie and Scrambler always survive the attack. I think Eddie even thanks you for sticking around to help.
In my game they were mowed down outside.
So I'm definitely late, however you in-game can have member of the Powder Gangers say the line at 4:00. You first need to have terrible reputation then change it to accepted or higher. (With a disguise), if you speak with a random member. That line should be said.
I love your videos. They make me sad though. I can only imagine what this game would've been like if given proper development time and a better engine. Despite them having only 18 months they still managed to create one of the best games of all time.

When I originally played this game back in the day I originally just wanted to play as a powder ganger and steal and loot from people. I hope one day soon we'll make a mod where I'll be able to do that.
2:55 This cut makes the most sense since Powder Ganger Guards can already sniff out your disguise, you can somewhat still use it but it requires running and tons of luck. Plus not worth it since Eddie mission reward is small and after that you won't see em again(except that one legendary Powder Ganger but meh)

TriangleCity in my opinion its not like new vegas was the best possible fallout game ever that could never be toped its good but compared to fallout 4 , 76 and even 3 somewhat it looks amazing

Oh I agree. FNV could've been a much better game and there are aspects that I think other Fallout games did better. The tone in Fallout 1 is more consistent, the overall world design in 3 is better, 4 has better combat, etc. With that said, it's still my favorite haha

3:45 this is on the PS3 version. I literally got this quote today with only two options of dialogue. I was vilified, wore joe cobbs armor to disguise, the gate keeper powder ganger could see through my disguise so he attacked me. I killed him in front of all powder gangers and they were fine with it. I looted the key and entered through the front door. A regular npc gave me this dialogue when I went go talk to him. He was closest to the front door. What was weird about this was I could walk through the whole prison and kill named power gangers with no consequences or hostility.
I can see why they ditched the face-wrap Powder Ganger armour.
Something about a man with a hard on for explosives and a wrapped up face in a desert just doesn’t sit settled with me 😂
