- As a gold prospector, I have dozens of ore samples at any given time. Rocks sitting in a bucket do you no good. We need to do some assaying and start smelting gold at home.
Real world quantitative results can potentially lead us to the true motherlode! Getting gold out of rock isn't easy but this simple gold recovery method can be used by nearly anyone.
Stay safe out there!

Melting rocks is better than smoking rock lololol
This is true
Man those convection cell get me every time. As well as watching the impurities shed off in to the cupell . That was awesome thanks for sharing and I'll see you on the next one
Oooh, they could make a really cool screen saver! You're giving me some great ideas Steve!
@@ColoradoGoldCamp I would watch that
IRELAND ☘️ wishing you and yer beautiful wife and family a happy and prosperous new year thx for all the videos
Thank you Paul! Happiest and most Plentiful New Year to you n yours!
Timestamp 4:36 Sir congratulations 🎉 you created what we here at the Volcano 🌋 call Gipsum Glass 😅
Ty for this video.
You're quite the gentleman. Informative video.
It's apparent you know your stuff.
Good luck out there,
From
A dude in Colorado springs
Love the smelting process some day I will be doing it myself.
It's definitely quite hot and fascinating!!
Fun video. Great job
Thanks Paul!
Nice video. Interesting! This is the first You-Tube video I have seen with closed captions that were accurate!
Hehe, thanks Auntie! I spent some time getting them edited, I'm happy you noticed :)
Pretty awesome dude I find these smelting videos are relaxing thanks for sharing ✌️
I'm glad to hear it Jeremy! Am pondering a pure relaxation molten rock/smelt video in the future.
I could use some of that heat today. Brrr!
Nice start to the new year!!
Right! We're sitting at 5 degrees right now in Leadville. Happy New Year Ron!
Timestamp 4:36 Sir congratulations 🎉 you created a warhead 😅
Fantastic video mate😀
Keep at it brother
🙌
Awesome video as always
Thanks Guys!!
Good job but what about crushing ore finer and roasting cons? If you roast you might not need iron rod at all more gold too what do you think? I know all ores are different.
Absolutely! I'm still experimenting with my processes for each ore type. On the dredge cons, I'm no seeing much difference between roasted or not.
Okay that was great really cool... Question would you recover more gold crushing the ore and doing a really good soak in a vat leach set up with cyanide ?
Happy New Year!
Thanks JSG, Happy New Year to you!
Great videos! I am wondering how you come up with a flux recipe? I've been trying to smell I've failed a lot but I'm close. I got my first speck in the cupel. At first I didn't think it I had anything. But a little tiny I know I missed a bunch in the slag. It never seems to pour as liquid as yours. I figured its my recipe. Any tip would be great. Thanks for the time you put in to your channel!!!
Hello Andy. Congrats on your first bead! Smelting can be difficult and confusing. My best suggestion is to make sure that the furnace gets hot enough and for long enough. You want to "cook" the smelt until all bubbling stops then continue for 5-10 min longer. In my non blower furnace this takes 45min to over an Hour for me. Also, flux thinner does work.
Dude can you give us a "Zoinks Scoob!" on your next video? Thanks.
Down in the next scary mine, ooooo
Got a question. Where can I find one of those upside down steel pyramid pour molds?
Hope you come out with new video's enjoy them
How many buckets of material would you say you collect per season?
Straigt b.s. cons: 15 buckets. Rocks= truckloads!
Perfect
Great Video! Is that a 10kg crucible?
This one is a #10 Salamander graphite crucible. It is way better than the budget #10. Says it is rated for 18kg copper.
Awsome!+
Gettin there!
Peace be upon you. Is it possible to dispense with the process of fumigating lead in the final stage and replace it with nitric acid to remove lead?
Nice videos Bud ..have you ever done smelting using welding rods ..would it work??
Who knows. I would think you could melt bullion with welding rods.
Im opening a mine here in New England! Im breaking ground in 2 weeks. The load gold on the east kinda sux.
Timestamp 4:30 Aluminum Cans meet your maker 😅🎉
ur funny bro and smart more hard rock smeltying vids pklsz
What did you use as the flux
Wow nice super bro
Thanks Mercy🙌
The video gets choppy atfter 8:00. What are you doing after this and with the same sample? Was it a lead button? How did you get the gold bead? Was that a cupell? I have a lot of questions.
Just write the GPS coordinate on the bags you will never question again where you got them from
what is the purpose of putting a bolt in the smelt?
The added iron helps to reduce the sulphides to iron sulfide so that they can get absorbed into the slag.
Easy to do at home? Who's! I have almost pure nuggets and flakes and need something simple.
Submerge your tank in water. Works great
Now that is a great idea Chris! I will have to try that!
@@ColoradoGoldCamp it's the best trick I ever came across to prevent bottle freeze and pressure loss. Keep almost the whole bottle in water. Works fantastic
❤❤
You look successful and happy
Congratulations!
I would suggest that you up the level of PPE. You are fooling around with lead toxicity
Heavy metals are no joke!
Is there gold in chalcopyrite rocks
Chalcopyrite is typically associated with copper ores but can also contain gold, silver, pgm's
@@ColoradoGoldCamp Was gold or silver extracted by smelting crushed chalcopyrite rocks?
@@karimrazak3798 It can be. Since it is a sulphide will require roasting or leaching to free up the gold values.
@@ColoradoGoldCamp roasting before melting
$12 worth of propane, 6 hours of your time, and $700 worth of equipment (if purchased second hand) and you get... $5 worth of gold.
Wow
$5!!!! That's very informative. Get yourself something nice, but don't spend it all in one place.
That's a lot of work and time for a tiny bb of gold.
😅
Money. Who
5 dollers vs 100 american DOLLERS of propane
$200 of propane for a $20 ball of gold
very low...
I disliked because you didn't mention what kind of flucks you used.
If I like your dislike does that make me a hypocrite?😅
