If you go in the alley by Tifa's house in chapter one, there are subtle hints about Cloud wearing a helmet. English is pretty subtle but others a bit less.
Great compilation, I think one I could add is when Nibelheim was burning and Cloud was trying to crawl to his house. He was calling out for his mom but the dialogue on the left side of the screen says “Soldier” saying “Mom”
Yeap, it’s why cloud knows all the details and tifa swears he wasn’t there. He kept his helmet on because he was ashamed to be returning as just a troop. But he’s always there… in the background
One thing I noticed, even if it was a little more obvious, was at the start of the niblheim flashback. When 'Cloud' talks to the motion sick soldier, you can actually see clouds blonde hair poking out from the soldiers helment. Neat detail
I didn’t notice these, nice. The first one with the officer saying Zack’s exact line is crazy, not because I don’t know the story but because it’s easy to miss. And someone who didn’t play the original FF7 could pick up on that and see at least a little bit how Cloud’s mind is and how him and Zack are connected
Saw this mentioned recently that in the credits when you're seeing all the cutscenes replayed, all the ending scenes from Cloud's POV are suspiciously missing from the sequence
There's also a terrier stamp with beagle stamp side by side in junon. Also when fake cloud gets blown back during the nibelheim incident, he switches to his actual pov, on the floor, and his gloves changes
The one thing I haven’t seen anybody talk about is how during the final showdown when cloud and aerith fight alongside - cloud assumes Zack’s fighting stance. That and him mimicking Zack’s quote of protecting soldier’s honor, indicate that we don’t really see a whole lotta actual cloud at the end of the story. We mostly shift between his soldier persona and his sephiroth persona, which builds up for a great payoff in the next game.
there are actually lots of subtle things in here. one thing to mention when cloud tries to go through the altar (where vincent helps the rest of the team stabilizing the entrance), take a hard look on the whispers as well.
I spotted two additional ones during the nibelhim fire you can see the infantryman crawling towards clouds house and he says “mo” quite clearly trying to say mom then when cloud gets to his door he takes the place of the infantryman and the infantryman disappears also clouds arm switches from the normal first class uniform to his mercenary arm protector thing number 2 something I noticed after using prime mode (I didn’t use it much during first play though so didn’t notice it initially) clouds opening combo resembles Zacks limit break that being chain slash (side note if you haven’t played crisis core you won’t know what I’m talking about but Zack’s normal limit break is chain slash in that game all other limits are either copy’s of that individuals limit eg octaslash from sepiroth or variations of their limits eg clouds meteor rain being changed to meteor shots)
I like during combat encounters sometimes when cloud gets attacked he yells mother in rebirth... shows the status of his degradation in gameplay. Awesome video btw
I don't know if this was brought up before, but in Remake, when Aerith was surrounded by Whispers in her room in Shinra HQ, she quoted someone "speaking" to her saying follow the yellow flowers. The yellow flowers were very prominent here. But there was one hidden in front of Tifa's house. I'm not sure what it means but I just noticed it when I started Hard mode. I wonder where else were these hidden in the game?
2:56 Oh shit, I thought this was a miss on the devs since he moves his sword any time he sits and takes it off when he goes to sleep, even called them lazy, nice one there, my sincere apologies
Nice video, the fact about the sword detail at 2:56 may be true, but in remake where cloud was sitting with aerith at the playground, he also sat with his sword
In the preceding fight after Aerith dies, obviously with everyone being in a fit of rage after witnessing her death, every single party member begins their fights with max limit gauge. Notice though that this is not the case with Cloud who is delusional and refuses to believe what had just happened.
He doesn't refuse anything. Lifestream aerith showed up to tell him he is ok (japanese version). We save a version of aerith in the end. The game makes that pretty clear if you pay attention to the 1000 hints and Symbols in that one scene (rainbow, whispers, the reunion light above the altar, Timing etc.)
@@LaulauGlimm Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Ultimania has just released in Japan, it is it confirmed in the book that during that scene Cloud is in denial of Aerith's Death and the static flashes you see (like in Nilbelheim flashback) are cloud fighting against the truth.
I’ve been trying to find info about your point that it is stated that cloud is in denial in the ultimania. I can’t find it. Do you have a link to the source?

One of my favorites is when cloud pushes tifa into mako reactor. This scene is extremely similar to when sephiroth cuts tifa in nibbelhein reactor. The moviment of tifa falling and the way they bladed her is the same.
I doubt that Jenova would have changed her face when she turned away from Cloud. When she looked at him, she tried to look cheerful, but it's clear from Cloud's face that she's faking it again, just like on their date in Sector 5. The Aerith who appeared after the funeral really looks strange, the music and the staging of the scene are deliberately made so that this scene looks mysterious.
Aerith wasn't in his mind at the end scene because if she was, how did Red perceive her? I think cloud was perceiving two realities at the same time, one where he deflected Sepheroth's attack she lived, and the other where she died.
RED RUNES in the black materia chamber. Cloud puts it in his GIANT SWORD. RED RUNES. GIANT SWORD. CRUCIBLE. Aerith...holds her hands in the same position as RIP AND TEAR when saying "rip em off" to Corneo. DAISIES and RABBIT in portraits in Kalm. KNOW YE UNBELIEVER THE POWER OF DOOMGUY.
I think he has both. Imo, if the devs wanted to show that Cloud is basically corrupting the Aerith's materia, it'd be a strange choice to have Cloud look at it, then put it away, and then notice in that moment that is somehow magically turned black from putting it away. Looked a lot like him putting the "white" materia away just made him notice that Seph slipped the black one into his pockets.
I never played the original FF7, so without spoiling anything from part 3, what the heck is going on? I never got why his memories of the flashback didn’t have Zack, and why he’s so convinced Tifa is dead? Every time she “showed” him the scar, they didn’t let us see, so I’m wondering if he’s not seeing any scar. All I can guess is that both and Zack have been traversing alternate realities, so his memories are messed up? But then what’s actually real? Idk anymore I’m so confused
Dyne's grave is like a mound of dirt and stones gathered above his corpse right were he died. They didn't even put a proper gravestone or a cross and used his gun instead as if it was his most precious belonging. Great video but all Remake and Rebirth is happening while Cloud is in lifestream in Mideel. These games are Tifa and lifestream Aerith helping pit Clouds memories back together.
There's a red tint in Aerith's eyes when she says "Promise?" and its also weird because throughout the entire game Aerith has always said to let her handle Sephiroth. But when Cloud says he will defeat Sephiroth, this "Aerith" replies in a way that contradicts what she has always wanted to do. I think its Jenova fucking with Cloud.
OMG i thought the exact same thing but i havent seen anyone else pick up on it??? i definitely think Jenova is preparing something for the next game and this isnt the real Aerith. The merging of realities and timelines could also be a reason though, since Cloud now is shown to see other dimensions (he saw a rip in the sky that no one else saw) so it may just be another version of Aerith? Love your theory!!!!
I think that’s weird too, but red feeling aerith still is the only thing making think this isn’t true. Tho the aerith we see sitting w everyone at the pool right after the final fight, def think that could be jenova
Also.. pay attention when she say "You promise"? Her necklace isn't moving at all. Indicating that somehow.. it might just be an illusion. On other CGI, such as the one going at the gold saucer, her necklace does move.
The last point about Aerith makes no sense. She is only there in Cloud's viewpoint anyway. She is not a figment of Cloud's imagination, she's a bleed from another timeline, but none of the others can see her as they can't see alternate timelines as Aerith and Cloud can.
She is there by spirit, no one can see her spirit besides him though and this is the game wanting you to see how her wandering spirit reacts to the party's grief. Cloud wouldn't be able to see her from that angle behind the Bronco he was sitting on the opposite side of it
