Ghana scores obviously without the Suarez hand, they go on to the next round. Never mind the penalty miss as that wouldn't have taken place if Suarez doesn't hand ball it. It have been interesting how Ghana would have done against Netherlands, Ghana were at their best in that World Cup.

Ghana ran us off the park. We were lucky to send it to extra time, although the penalty was correctly given. But 4 years later, we beat them, and effectively knocked them out.

It is clear at 1:22 exactly (because the ball changes direction - before any contact) that the defender gets the ball before any contact with the American. No penalty. Terrible call - but how garbage is this commentator? While he can see a slow motion replay of this all, he's saying exactly the opposite (obvious pen; no contact with the ball) - it's like he's not even trying. Dialing it in. Painful.

I do not love Ghana, but they were often the superior team throughout this game. As in past and future instances, aside from clear luck in some cases, the US squad does not have enough talent to advance far at all in this tournament. Notwithstanding the goals, Donovan was already showing to be a shell of his former self, and certainly did not deserve to be in another world cup, but I still like him.

I have thought for decades that either Ghana or other teams from Sub-Sahara Africa were getting close to winning the World Cup or other major international tournament against the either top European or South American teams, but not even close.
The Ghanaian team were obviously the superior team against the U.S. team and deserved to win, but it was closer than it should have been.
