I fully agree that Christianity is a religion, the book of Acts was written around 33 CE (Christ era, not common era) when the heathen coined that word; this begs the question, what were believers called before the book of Acts was written? Also the word Christian was never in Jesus' vocabulary, and He never taught it to His disciples.
The word Christian means FOLLOWER of Christ, the disciples followed Jesus physically, He was their teacher. The Holy Spirit could not reside in the disciples because Jesus' blood was not spilled yet. (A testament is not in force except after the death of the testator) After Jesus' resurrection and the removal of the SIN IMPASSE (blood of bulls goats doves become obsolete) ALL humans can now come with confidence to God's throne without condemnation.
"There shall now be NO CONDEMNATION to those who ARE IN Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh, but ACCORDING to the Spirit." To BE in Christ Jesus is to acknowledge the goodness of God in Christ Jesus (efficacy of Calvary's cross, the potency of Jesus' RANSOM blood and His resurrection) become born again into the nation or Kingdom of God.
The Holy Spirit taking up residence in the life of such a person who responds to God's Word by effecting their FRANCHISE to BE SAVED. We are not followers but sons (JOHN 1:12) of God; we live AFTER the cross. The Holy Ghost governs every aspect of our life, living and lively-hood. The blood of Jesus; He has presented to our Heavenly Father is upon the LINTELS of our every being; we are untouchable.: HEBREWS 11:28.
As sons, the Spirit (Paraclete) reveals to us absolute truth (Rhema) from the bible of which instruction in righteousness is imparted for us to act on or do. The interference of the bible's scripture by unscrupulous behaviour cannot negate God's intent, for we walk by faith as the Spirit is the Spirit of truth; we have the mind of Christ: 1 CORINTHIANS 2:16. The bible (God's Word ) is so intricately written that error of the written (Gaphe) word is revealed easily, for scripture interprets scripture.
