A lot of the 120+ and in other weight devisions, have huge difficulties in the lookout in comparison to the bottom movement, especially when it comes to equipped deadlifts. Its possible that he reached his nearly limit in the lookout ability.
Good Omarisuf videos about how you shoulder never be grinding out reps if you're power lifting. Basically saying you're training yourself to fail if you are.
You shouldnt really be grinding that hard in training. That being said it looks much smoother for big guys because they are far more stable and they carry a lot of mass that covers up the muscle striations and slight shaking that would be good indicators apart from speed for how difficult the lift was for them. Often you will see these guys perform with amazing speed but once they reach their limit it is like hitting a brick wall. If they cannot maintain that amount of speed they simply do not complete the lift.
This guy was the prodigy of weightlifting. those lifts looked so easy but were so BIBLICAL... its a shame he had the knee injury... it would be unbelievable to watch him improve... I hope you doing well Carl :)
Agreed. Look at his squat -490. The BP too he pushes up with ease. It's only the top part he shows any struggle with. He is conserving his strength there in the DL as he didn't need to go higher.

On a texas or okie deadlift bar which most other non IPF feds use add 20-25kg (45 to 55lbs) I guess .. on the day in question .. It would be interesting if someone has any insight into his gym maxes on deadlift .. I think your right that he maybe has a bit of slowdown at the lockout ..
I respect powerlifting but it erks me that some powerlifters use low bar and sumo stance and raise their chest up so there is no/little ROM. I know they are doing this to complete the rep. BUT, THIS GUY THO!!! High bar squat, slight arch when benching is healthy, and conventional grip!!! JUST INCREDIBLE! Best squats I've seen ever for the weight on his back. BRAVO!
