Hey friends, I'm a firm believer that overexposing S-Log 3 footage is the best way to expose this profile correctly, but that's not all you have to keep in mind. In this video I go over exactly how film in SLOG3 to produce perfect skintones and have an all around pleasing image that looks cinematic and natural. This technique works for Sony a6700, a7c ii, a7cr, fx3, a7siii, fx30, a7iv, and a1. Enjoy!

Does this matter if you upload the LUT into the camera and “bake” it in? Also, thinking the a6700 is the best hybrid option over fx30 and a7C II
So the number you choose in slog3 is for proper skin tone exposure? What about like landscapes or architectural shooting for example?

I have been shooting with zebras at 70..but have been shooting with the display lut on...lol hopefully turning it off going forward will help...if you arent shooting for skin tones..just broll..establishing shots do you keep zebras at 70 with display lut off?

Great video tons of valuable information! I was curious about zebra settings if there are no people in the scene just say landscape or similar. Would you still set zebra's for 70? Hi, I don't quite understand the question! The 18-50 isn't stabilized so I can only rely on the IBIS and Active stabilization which crops in
1:10 - according to PhotonToPhotos investigation the highest dynamic range is at ISO 100 resulting in 10,93 stops of dynamic range while at ISO 800 we have 8.18. If you really measured and have different data, please tell how you measured that.
This video is very very helpful, but I got one problem. I use the a6700 with the kitlens. I get very grainy footage with this exact settings (sometimes I have to use 2500 or Auto ISO, but I try to keep it at Base ISO of 800 or 2500). Am I doing something wrong? I try to control the light, but the footage is still very grainy. I guess I need a wider aperture than F 3.5 but how wide? I like to have more options when it comes to zooming. But a zoom lens for my budget "only" has F2.8. Is F2.8 enough or should I invest in a prime lens like a 16mm F1.4? I really need help please.
Are you over exposing your footage in slog3? If it’s not over exposed then there will be a lot of noise in the shadows unfortunately. F2.8 would be good unless you need to film in dark environments
So I have the A7RV and the A7IV. I’m just getting started with S-Log3. I notice a lot of videos talk about having the zebras at 70. But then they have another setting at 94+. Why are there two different settings?
At 94 you will See zebras in the highlights if they are exposed too much. At 70 you will See zebras at humans Skin, if you would over Expose

Yes, because you'll get the cleanest image at the camera's base ISO

Get the fx30. I have the a6700 and it overheats all the time.
@@49erfan916 Agree or get both if you also do photos. I have both and they compliment each other very well and you can share lenses.

Have yet to experience overheating but I haven’t pushed it to its limits

No, I’d only use it as a C-cam at a wedding because it only has one slot. FX30 is a better choice for weddings
S log 3 s gammut 3 cine should be exposed at 48-52 % IRE for skin tones qccording to Sony… just saying. 70 % is in Rec 709
