This brings back memories. I had the alien ship set. I'm talking about the 90s and early 2000's to my nine year old niece just like my parents talked about the 60s and 70s.
This is from what I know: originally Mighty Max started out with a green hat when the toy-line started, but as the line got popular enough to have a show, they changed the hat color to red. This was most likely due to red at the time being a popular color, as we had Super Mario, Optimus Prime and the Red Power Ranger being mostly popular with the kids, so it made sense (at least to the executives).

The scene had the guardian dude walk into a burned house, upon leaving telling the others not to enter. Max doesn’t listen, commenting about how he watches movies like this all the time, but when he leaves the house the bravado had left him as it was noted the horrors of war were not like in the movies Max watched.

I remover these. A bunch of kids I knew had these sets and played with them all the time. That and with the Star Wars ones. It felt like a mini video game level but a toy. It was so cool. Those were vintage tho and we probably shouldn’t be playing with them but they were always kept in good condition.
I've come to the conclusion that most of these 'Toy Reviews' are just people Flexing that they have something from your childhood that you don't. When I was a kid: it was that one Dude who Everyone thought was a show off. Who's father and mother divorced and he wanted to make friends by showing off the gifts that both parents were getting for him. Most of the time we just humored him. Fast forward to now: now it's become a money making thing for both CZcamsrs and the companies banking off of nostalgia.
Edit: what I'm thinking of is different, sadly. Aaaaooomygod! I had one of these! It was a jet, and it opened up into a base with a tiny copy of the jet and other lil vehicles! I've been looking for the name for almost a decade now!
