Discarded dog walked to a porch, sat by the door and asked for help...

So many animals are being abandoned these days... I don't understand what's happening here. Last week, someone even abandoned a dog at the Los Angeles International Airport - just sealed in a bag after his owners didn't have the proper paperwork to fly with him. 😓

I am moving to a house next month and the people that are moving out have told me they are leaving their cat. I will take him in, but l am worried because my dog is vicious to cats. I am just hoping a slow and patient introduction will allow my dog to accept the cat. It's very weird how people can do this.

Same. Our gorgeous, incredible apple head Siamese 'Sam' came to us the same way. And like you, he was in our lives for 10 glorious years. I loved him so much - everybody did. Even people who weren't 'cat people' loved Sam. Crazy, it's been 36 years since he passed, and it still brings me to tears when I think too much about him.

While I understand that people may be in a very bad way, abandoning an animal is NOT the answer. While I know lots of people think that surrendering them to the pound is certain death, leaving them on the streets is actually much much worse. I'm glad darling Aristotle went to a home where the home owner knew to call HPF. Thank you dear lady for calling them & as always thank you Eldad & team at HFP for saving another precious animal!

He's one lucky pup 🐶 I wish I could convince more people to adopt their pets instead of paying hundreds or thousands of dollars 💸 💵 💲 🤑 💰 to breeders. There are so many wonderful dogs and cats 🐈 that need homes 🏡

It really burns me that I get nowhere trying to get our county or state to make the condition of getting a breeder's license ......to a permit that has limits of 'x' number of litters a year....for each of their breeding dogs, and a total number of litters a year for the breeder!
It would help solve the problem...yes, the cost of purebred dogs would go up...good, the breeders can still make money, and they wouldn't be churning out puppies constantly.
If the cost of purebreds rose, people might turn to shelters and rescues! The growing demand and popularity of crossbreed dogs might help alleviate the problem.

@mauisheri We're 💯 on the same page. I think breeders should pay $1000's for a license!!! Mixed breeds are more often healthier than purebred dogs, plus there are purebreds in shelters and rescues that cater to specific breeds

I don't "get" it and I probably never will. We would no more abandon our fur babies than we would abandon our kids. It just blows my mind that someone could/would just dump a person they supposedly loved for years. Imagine what must go through their minds... "What did I do?", "where is my Mom/Dad?", Why did they leave me here?" and the horrible fear and grief. Suddenly alone in a frightening strange world, no food, water, no bed, no toys, no nothing. Imagine yourself there. People who do this should be sent to jail and never allowed pets EVER AGAIN!. I'm so happy Ari has found a loving home and family. He deserves it. 💗💗💗💗
