When I was a child my first intro to Tekken was the T3 demo that came on a psx demo disc, it only had Xiaoyu and Eddy. After months of playing that demo I got pretty good with Eddy, and every time I visited a friend who had the game I would play him and get shouted at for playing the masher character. So he switched to Eddy to beat me at my own game, only to realize that I knew the range of his sweeps and flips and could just stay outside of his reach and punish when he was vulnerable. It was maybe the most satisfying win I've experienced.
"super" is absolutely allowed in a mash situation. the amount of times i would just spam fireball input with punches AND kicks as a kid back in the day was insane. like, ok, ill either normal cuz i fucked up entirely, ill fireball cuz it took the punch, or ill do some other special cuz it took the kick. maybe ill super if i have bar, which i never really paid attention to how can they know what youre gonna do when you dont even know?
Enjoyed your moves around the 17:20 mark. I used to use Eddy a lot back in the day. And yes - after you really learn him you realize the mash moves are the most basic moves in his arsenal by default. I got to using his pauses mid windmill and connecting to various moves.
Like at 4:50 if I mashed out a move it's ok, my brain has been recording my input this whole time. I know roughly what I pressed two seconds ago but I also know which foot that started with which helps me narrow down exactly what I pressed, like ok it was a 4 first and I remember I was still holding back at that point so it might be back 4 3.
I am Mighty Ruler so far and hold my own against Raijin/Fujin but get my ass handed to me a little higher than those. The problem Jim came into a minute later is that it is very duckable and that is what usually gets me, until I start compensating for that.
Having to play high ranked eddies all day yesterday has completely ruined this character for me. Nothing is more infuriating than being on the blocking end of an unintentionally smurfing Eddy, then not even giving me the tools to lab punish windows without buying him. Only time I’ve played tekken and felt like I was being cheated and didn’t enjoy my tekken experience since launch.
Going into Toys R Us with my grandparents to play the demo consoles set up in the store; Star Fox 64, Tekken on the PS, man what a great time. I basically never played any fighting games so of the two characters you could play the dude that wiggled around a lot i did really well on because i could just thump the controller and probably land some hits lol
Bro i actually learnt eddy moves and combos with still getting better at neutral. I win against a lot of people even 9 win streak but i always lose to a mashing eddy. I guess im wrong for trying to play legit
Can confirm I just got a 30 win streak mashing 😂 I think I know like 6-7 actual moves and absolutely no strings. Easy mode character. Seems like he would be hard to learn technical stuff with because of stances but seems dope.
I coasted to red ranks with Eddy without knowing basically any of his moves, so he's definitely a scrub killer. Only dropped a few matches along the way, and only to other scrub Eddys played by higher ranked players with stronger fundamentals.
I'm not mad that he went on an 8 game winning streak by mashing with Eddie Gordo, I'm mad that he went on that win streak with a primarily neutral stick while alternating the kicks. Not even the full mashing menu!

-try hopkicking when you see him go into one of his low to the ground stances -use repeated backdashing to get out of range and bait whiffs -abuse frame traps and okizeme since he is probably mashing slow moves like 3 but at the end of the day your best bet is to do the punishment training against him in training mode
He wasn’t really a mashing character, sure you could press 3/4 and connect stuff but for his combos it wasn’t mashing, they’ve actually added a full combo with just pressing Down Forward 3 and then 333333333. They ENCOURAGE this behavior 😭
Where did you get the button thing on screen? And do they have one for hitbox? I don’t have arcade stick, but I want my stream to see my buttons as well
Man, i remember in an arcade when i was watching this guy play KoF 2002 and all he was doing was spinning the stick around and mashing the buttons as crazily as possible and his Billy just kept sending out so many attacks and specials nonstop XD So yes, mash. Mash. *MASH!!!!!*
He wasn't good because of mashing, he was good because his movements are hard to predict compared to people throwing punches. Although now half the cast are anime characters, so....😊

Eddy is bugged to hell right now. From his high low mix that will hit you in crouch, too how much of his stuff is plus, and how goddamn long his strings are, his ki charge is literally is bugged harder than Victors throw. That's not even too mention, high rank players are being put into beginner ranks because the matchmaking for him is jacked up. I'm a warrior rank fighting legit flame rulers and fujins.
Not only that, but everyone is a beginner when they use Eddy insteas of an average of their real rank. My first 2 fights in tekken 8 was against 2 eddies that had mpre tgan 160.000 tekken prow 😂, i barelly escaped the perfects and didn't want to play anymore, fix your shiet Harada!!!!
I played against an eddy today, he was dog shit but had an 8 game win streak, mashing certainly works, at least on day 1 where u cant even lab the character unless u buy it

Heat Smashes and Rage Arts are TOTALLY part of mashing. They're one button moves.

If you have them set as macros. Otherwise heat / heat smash are two buttons (2 + 3), and Rage Art is DF 1+2.

How would you actually punish a mashing Eddy player as someone who doesn't know frame data of moves yet? Ducking Jabs?
Even if you don't know actual frame data just look for big moves that look punishable. We figured it out without frame data for years.
Learn your fastest button and like someone else here said, wait for a big move.
Backdash, sidestep, block. Wait for a big whiff. Punish.

You have to take a character you havnt ranked up rank him up a few lvls and it will bring eddy up...its stupid
