  • Wash your hair, moisturize your skin and clean your lungs with the same plant! Today Freelance Chucky is showing us a super healthy (but not necessarily tasty) variety of cactus called Tuna...also knows as pear cactus, prickly pear or opuntia. Growing straight on the freelance yard, this cactus is a fast growing and extremely useful plant! We also chat about childhood games, grapefruit cricket balls and much more.
Thanks to Delcine, @kingdavidandtheroyalfamilyofgod , Gerald, Ollie, Callum and everyone who joined in the video. Big up @Backpackingsimon as well for his great work on the ‪@FreelanceJamaica‬ channel and inspiring me to come visit Freelance style.

Matthew my Dad would take 3 days off smoking herbs every 6 months and would drink it first thing in the morning and last thing at night. He'd set it for 24 hours before consuming it. The belief is that it cleans the kidney and lungs and when he start back smoking it was a different high. Great content as always these old time traditions and tricks are dying with the older generation. Glad to see you're still keeping these things alive and well. One love from beautiful Trinidad and Tobago ❤ 🇹🇹.

Tip for eating Nopal (aka cactus aka tuna) get the nice ripe ones for eating if its too stiff its not ready(sort of like the aguacate or "pear") this spiny succulent is delicious when fried with garlic, onion, salt, pepper, tomatoes (PAMADOROOOO) and spicy peppers. Its great with pork or in a vegetarian recipe . it can also be prepare uncooked as a salsa with the previous ingredients and a nice amount of lime juice .

The cactus I have has to be eaten when the petals are young. It basically has a vein structure that gets really tough when it gets to mature. It also has a bunch of tiny hair like spines that really suck to get in your skin. Chucky's looks like it doesn't have either problem.
