My God can you imagine how much of an honor yet how totally terrifying it would be to perform one of Elton John’s songs in front of him?
Not just one of his songs...one of his most iconic!
And with his band
And.. you have Nigel, Davey, and the rest of the Elton John band, backing you up! What an honor!
The band also needs to take credit. When I went to Elton John's shows I always paid attention to the band's shenanigans.
Not to mention getting to play on Elton’s piano!
@@BabyLambCreationsI’m 70ish and have 🩷’d Elton from the very beginning of his career. I’ve been listening to/watching MANY of his performances over the years. (I went to his ‘Farewell’ concerts 2 X’s within a few months apart in ‘22 - IIR the year). HIS 🎹 is, and has always been a ‘Yamaha’ (whenever possible - either black or white colored) - NOT the red one Charlie’s playing here, or the others in this concert tribute.
Why is it such an honor? We're all human aren't we. Why artificially elevate some above others. Sorry this is just a pet peeve of mine.

Love Charlie, and his music, but in my opinion he didn’t do a great job with this masterpiece of a song… 🩵 The best cover of this song has always been by George Michael 🙏🏼 followed by David Archuleta’s cover 💫

Charlie Puth is one of the most talented musicians I've seen. There was a late night talk show where he took a coffee cup, recorded sounds made by the coffee cup and turned it into music and wrote a song on the spot. It was amazing.

Omg he honestly fucking nailed it! Down to every note, key, and every word!! Elton in the audience smiling the entire time as the cover of his song was so perfect and he did not fuck it up! It's hard to cover and modernize songs nowadays and I'm extremely blessed to have been alive through both versions. We love you all!

👏 to everyone who was a part of this 🌟 Elton’s Awards tribute concert - not only Charlie! Since the videos 1st appeared on YT, I haven’t stopped watching them ALL - over and over again! Having watched other artists who’ve done ‘covers’ of his songs WITH him in the audience. THIS one got THE MOST positive reaction from Elton I noticed in his facial expressions of joy 🫠 as well as his singing along with everyone’s performance! The ONLY person who sadly 😥 is missing from his original band members is Ray Cooper on drums 🥁(having seen E.J.’s Farewell concerts live 2X’s in the last couple yrs, and at the age Ray is now, still plays w/ SO much energy & enthusiasm I’m in awe!). I’m 70ish and always 🩷’d Elton, and feel he hasn’t ‘lost it’, as SO many have written in 👎 comments on his recent ones. I can’t count the # that said things like: ‘he sounds like a constipated seal’, ‘a fat, old queen’, ‘time to retire’, etc. To me he’s even better NOW than in his past days - vocally as well as the additional 🎹 (vs not playing it as much then). IMHO this was a fabulous show in its entirety - and hopefully 🤞 will be available as such (but w/o the commentaries and interviews).
Whoa - that's a biggie! Having to perform THIS song while the men who wrote the lyrics & wrote the music & performed the song (with some of the best) are sitting front & centre! Props Charlie, it wasn't up there with George & Elton...but it was solid.
