There was a lot said about limiting our perception of what we are as a species. It reminded me of a story from Cooke's journals where he finds an elder sat by a river with a tree snare set in such a way to catch the fish, toss them up, and land them close enough that the man didn't even have to get up to get them.
Cooke took this as evidence of the original people's laziness.... You really have to sit on that a while. Just mind blowing.
I bring it up because it presents a picture of baseline human existence that is more idyllic than they'd ever want to admit to us. The old man shouldn't exist. It should be a young man, half starved, battling the elements, with crocs in the water and dingos trying to steal his catch, right? Not some old gentleman having a picnic while a clever snare does all the work

OK, so yeah, I watched the pirated episodes of Magical Egypt on CZcams and thoroughly enjoyed them. I'm a big fan of the late John Anthony West, a prince among men. I'm going to look up an old episode of JAW on Joe Rogan and watch it again this weekend.
You should definitely check out Mogg Morgan's podcast. When it comes to ancient egyptian magic. Gold.

paused 25 min in. went to check on the garden. first plant I look at has an enormous beautiful iridescent green june beetle staring back at me, just soaked by the sprinkler and like shimmering. sooo.. I can't help but feel like Ancient Egypt wants me to get back into it lol
nope japenese beetles are invasive and you need more grounding

Very much enjoyed the conversation and was lucky and am eternally grateful to have been able to travel to Egypt with JAWS. His ability to properly time and create the right setting for visits to the temples was unmatched, he knew how to let Egypt speak for herself. On another note, I am taking slight issue with the regular derision of Rogan by fat people. The guy is a Jiu Jitsu black belt, which means he has cultivated the capacity to transmute projected charge like a goddamn wizard in a manner a fat, unhealthy dude sitting on his ass for the majority of his time wouldn't even know to be possible. Jiu Jitsu is in my view a deep study of Hermetic principles and the acquisition of an applied and earned intelligence that is grounded in the body, where all "work" starts. A black belt might not be the most erudite or eloquent person in the room, but there is profound and actualised knowledge of pure principle, humility and a Jedi like capacity to use your intelligence under high pressure.
