bella thorne - you get me, the babysitter
I hate when people blame it on bad parenting. A lot of persons grew up in dysfunctional homes or without parents and they didn’t murder.
Rohanna F for real you aren’t free to slaughter innocent people because of bad home life. Most people those situations don’t commit mass murder
@Mr. Brodie Agreed. It's not the parents fault, of course. The dysfunctional family might have played as a catalyst in his ultimate downward spiral but that doesn't justify his crimes.
Who knows he might have killed even if he had a perfectly normal family. However I still believe there was some clear negligence, not just from the family but also from the people around him. There were some pretty clear warning signs that he was not on the right track but they were ignored by everyone. If they had noticed then maybe the number of victims would have been lesser then they are.
Bullying, early fascination with cutting the skin off of animals and dysfunctional family isn't an excuse for his crimes but it sure gives an insight and explanation into his twisted mind.
And a lot of people grow up in loving, safe homes and they do murder, so.
That's true
@@abhyajha8401 I think it also depends on the person, everyone reacts to trauma differently, some eventually recover and some don't

That’s even more frightening.
Except him. He said he knew he needed help but who could he tell? He was right who would you tell that to, other than a therapist? So they sent him to grandma's who promptly took him to church. You think he was going to tell any church people? And his damn parents were so mixed up in their own issues they didn't have time for him.
@@robinholland1574
I’m sure that along that dark path there were those who didn’t feel they had the time or just didn’t care. Who knows what one concerned individual could have prevented? The saddest part is that there are loads of stories such as this one. Maybe not quite as grisly but certainly just as tragic. The scariest part is that once his transformation into a monster was complete, everybody who met him thought that he was just like everyone else. Terrifying. Truly terrifying.
Evan Peters along with Ross Lynch were the best portrayals of Dahmer like they physically resemble him and played him super well.

Dylan Sprouse: ex Disney star now playing the role of a psychopath in Dismissed
Libby Astill Cole Sprouse ex Disney Star playing the “werido dark kid” in Riverdale-

My heart breaks for the families of these innocent victims. Completed the Netflix series. Evan Peters deserves an award. He's such a great actor. But I do hope he recovers mentally from playing such monster. Everyone did such an amazing job. My heart goes out to the families.

Warning, this is kind of a disturbing story:
I had a friend when I was a kid who was a few grades older than me. I think I was in grade 3 and he was like grade 5 or something. He was kind of a terror sometimes to other people, causing these occasional wild outbursts just to piss people off and laugh at the chaos. I liked him though because he was really nice to me and would always include me, a younger loner kid, into his friend group. His friends seemed pretty normal in general. I’d go to his house and we’d play various normal kid games in his yard.
One day though, we were walking by an old broken fountain in his yard. I noticed it was filled with clean lizard skeletons, so I asked him about it. He told me that he sometimes liked to burn live lizards with matches and sometimes use whatever combustible liquid he could find and just watch them burn to death. I was a kid so I didn’t think that much of it really.
Later that Christmas I got a home science kit for Christmas (I was really into science back then). It came with test tubes, a microscope, glass slides, dull scalpels, etc. My friend saw these and was like “We should experiment on a lizard!” So I went with it and we went to my yard, caught a lizard and dissected it completely while it was still alive. Even found out that is was bearing eggs. As a curious child I found it kind of fascinating, the inner workings of a living creature and whatnot, but I was also slightly uncomfortable and sympathizing vaguely with the lizard, even though I hadn’t entirely grasped empathy yet.
After he left my house, my mom and older sister immediately found out what we did. I didn’t hide it because I didn’t know at the time that it was wrong. They explained to me how horrible the act was and how the lizard must have felt and I ended up crying my eyes out for hours out of pure guilt and realization.
I never hurt an animal again after that.
The following year though, my friend moved away and I never heard from him again. I don’t even remember his last name and have no idea where he could be.
This movie disturbs me especially because I always once in a while look back at that friend and wonder... I know it’s normal for children to be curious, but that’s on a different level of curiosity, but I learned from that one mistake and he seemed to feel nothing from it.
Am I gonna see him on the news one day? Lolll
But like is he gonna make 2020 worse?
Alexa Cantillo maybe he evolved into Covid 19 :O
Would not be surprised if you do someday see him on the news. I'm sorry you had that experience, what a scary thing. Fortunate thing that he moved away, in my own opinion, just in case he did turn out this way.
There's nothing wrong with that... People shoudnt be telling a child what they should be interested in...
Kro Tv the basic idea of development is learning wrong from right, especially when it comes to morality. If a child never learns that it’s wrong to kill, particularly in the sense of victim vs. victimizer, they have a harder time understanding the difference when they get older. In the case of Dahmer, this lack of understanding fed into his further mental health. Developmental psychology is an extremely important science and proves foremost that lessons at a young age highly resonate into later years.

It’s sad that people are born like that but it doesn’t NOT excuse the horrible murders he committed! There are thousands of psychopaths and sociopaths that chose societal morality and do not murder, he could have done the same. Backderf told Lynch that he had to walk away, because he couldn’t talk to Lynch when Lynch was in costume. Lynch apparently looked and acted so much like Dauhmer, that it made Backderf emotional.

I don’t think the movie is trying to justify anything. It just show that a depressing home and childhood is part of the contributing factors that shaped him into a killer. It is not just simply blaming it on bad parenting. It is just showing his family background.

If you are interested in the movie I can tell you that dog (or other animals in it) don't get killed or tortured. I'm not interested in films feeding on sensation, or depiction of gruesome acts. This film is concentrating on eventual cause or process of Dahmer becoming a killer. It's quite fair in my opinion. It doesn't give you ready answers, neither it's forcing any judgement on viewer.

Edit: Actually found out that the dog was dead before Dahmer disemboweled it and stuck its skull on a stick, they should have included that fact, makes him out to be an animal abuser.
There's a scene later though where some kids come across a disemboweled dog in the forest (filmed very blurry in the background) that's assumed to be the work of Dahmer.

I agree
In his will, the real Jeffery Dahmer wrote that he didn't want a funeral, a headstone, or anything of the sort. He wanted to be cremated and spread out. He wanted to be *forgotten* by society completely. I'm gonna watch this movie though.
Allergic to humans not animals that's really sad tbh
schmoo no it’s not sad - he wanted his body burnt so he couldn’t be studied by medical science. Which would prove he was more Mostar than human and his whole spiel was a covert narcissistic narrative.
@@ottoroberts5163 he wanted his brain saved so it could be studied by Science, actually. It was his dad that wanted his entire remains cremated.
schmoo then you don’t agree with the statement you originally agreed with then...
You can’t find it sad that “Jeffrey wanted to be forgotten” if you also agree his father/family wanted his body burnt. Whether Jeffrey himself wanted his body burnt, or his family, the fact still remains it eliminates the tiny amount of evidence we could have used to actually prove Jeffrey was a monster.
Whichever option, my original point is valid. Whoever’s idea it was to burn Jeffrey, was to cover up the fact he was evil, leaving only his words which weirdos like you use to hang onto the notion he was a person who not only deserved empathy, but should be empathised with in spite of how many he killed, how he chose to kill, how long he killed, etc.

It’s nerve racking how much he looks like Dahmer
Dahmer is an extreme example of what can happen when the mind and heart of the social animal are grotesquely asphyxiated from a lifetime of alienation: familial, social, cultural ... He must've known nothing but bitter loneliness and anxiety from youngest age, with so little love, warmth or meaning to illuminate his bleak inner world. It's only in such a place of bleak abandonment that total possession of (the remnants of) others through their killing can become an addictive, momentary reprieve from the psychological suffering.
Nothing... NOTHING can ever justify his crimes or anybody's crimes. Many people are abused and bullied but they never turn into monsters
And many non abused people are murderers to!
The whole nature v nurture debate
I don't think it was meant to justify anything, but perhaps explain how a physcopath, and a screwed up situation like that, is a recipe for disaster. Anyways great film.
That is true but he clearly had mental problems to begin with
I think this movie and the real interviews and stuff generally aren't there to excuse his crimes but more explain how he spiralled out of control. He had a lot of problems mentally to begin with, with his parents not handling them the way they should, doctors and the whole justice system just overlooking stuff cause he was white he didn't get the therapy he needed to maybe be stopped or at least keep him from society. I just recently listened to a three hour podcast about his detailed life and he did try a lot of things to stop his urges, most prominent thing he tried was turn to alcoholism. He knew something was wrong, he knew what he did was wrong but when the chemicals in your brain are all screwed up and no one notices and you don't get help yourself, like proper help, there's nothing you can do to stop those urges. One doctor explained that what he probably suffered from was a disorder that hit the brain in the stop that usually responds to sexual arousal, but with that disorder the brain sort of seizes and arousal and aggressions are mixed. In his case everything else just pushed him into murder
Sry for the long response but I'm really interested in his case and his behaviour
I agree we shouldn't victimize him, but I didn't think the movie did that. It showed what his early life was like and when something is what happened that's just it- it happened. NOTHING that happens to Dahmer excuses ANYTHING he did, but I think that's why people find these movies so interesting. The thing I think people get confused is excuses versus explanations. I thought that this movie was an attempt to explain, at least partly, why Jeffrey Dahmer turned out the way he did, without excusing his behavior.
The movie didn't do anything. He is the protagonist, and everyone who opposes to him will be classified as a villain, even a cop. Anything bad that happens to the protagonist will make him show off as a victim.
@Prince Angel I'm not saying he isn't human? Perhaps you mentioned the wrong person mate.
Ikr?! So many overly sensitive and holier-than-thou people seeing subtext that isn’t there.
The author of the comic book the movie is based on who used to be friends with him doesn’t even forgive or excuse his actions.
Yes Jeffery is the protagonist in this film, the title of the film says it all.
Exactly...
Actually Jeffrey said himself that even though he doesn't know what started it, there was no one to blame but him. Things like Childhood, parents, school. That those were just excuses.

AM I THE ONLY ONE THINKING HE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE JEFFREY DAHMER?!?!
Dyandra Clevia WHY ARE WE SCREAMING
I DONT KNOW!!!
that is jeffrey dahmer. they let him out to do this movie. duh
yes
Dyandra Clevia no
After watching the netflix series, I have to say, its hard to pick which portrayal I like more... Evan Peters AND Ross Lynch both went all-out for this role, and both added a necessary subtlety to their performances.
Evan alll the way. Plus the series goes more in depth than this short movie
Even Peters
I think ross lynch was slightly better the only problem with even Peters potrayl was his threatening expression politeness and non threatening presence is dahmer 's biggest weapon which evan peter got wrong
So the Disney Channel star turns a new leaf into true Dramatic Acting.....Well DONE!
This reminds me of Evan Peters in the first season of AHS (murder house)
the hair a little
Yeah but even peters is hoter
PFH SAME
Josie Baltz I KNOW RIGHT!!! AHS MURDER HOUSE IS THE BEST
Giselle Sovinski yes!! It’s my favorite season!
This is sad, but he was a killer, and I think people need to realize that.
Star Storm Gaming I don't think anyone failed to realize that 😂
D'Marius Johnson
Have you even seen the tumblr community my dude
No one failed to realize what he eventually became. This movie highlights all the warning signs that Dahmer showed when he was still in high school that people just ignored like him faking a seizure in the hallway in front of his classmates or him fantasizing about killing a male jogger that he was attracted to. He was deeply troubled from an early age and it’s sad because the crimes he eventually went on to commit could have been prevented if he had just willingly gotten the help he desperately needed early on.
I think people do.
Although it was his choice to kill them peoole, the moral of this story is to pay closer attention to the people that don't speak out, maybe if people cared about the guy none of this would of happened.
i just finished the novel today, i think it's ironic that i spent my lunch period in the library reading this book because i dont have any friends to sit with
Yes, after watching the new Dahmer series on Netflix I can definitely say : Evan Peters fits the role better - and also the other actors are more similar
The resemblance between Ross and the real Jefferey is scary.
yes; the movie is very inaccurate with timelines, dahmer (2002) is easily the most accurate movie on jeffrey
eleanor dahmer ʚĭɞ i read somewhere that the director didn’t wanna talk to Ross when he was in costume because he was too much like Jefferey
@@auocados4875 they did look alike; i dont think it makes a difference when the movie is heavily inaccurate, it upset me a lot when i was excited for it to come out. even if it was about him growing up, it still got a lot of things wrong that jeffrey has talked about
eleanor dahmer ʚĭɞ nah this movie is the most accurate dahmer (2002) used a bunch of fake characters and fake events while this movie is about his teenage life in highschool and is very accurate when I did the research I just want a dahmer movie that is about his adult life and is very accurate with the killings
@@trainsgod1042 they got the timelines wrong in this movie, & dahmer 2002 was accurate with the murders/timelines, of course it had to add some fictional stuff into it, just to make it longer.
This movie is gonna be great. I am really proud of Ross Lynch.
Edit: Why are there so many creeps that like Dahmer? He was a real person that killed 17 guys for his own pleasure. He was a selfish coward and that isn’t cute at all. Dahmer was not even remorseful. He was a lying manipulator. His bragging and disrespectful behavior led him to his death. Why should we care about his feelings? He didn’t care about the feelings of the 17 that he killed.
“There are a surprising number out there who view Jeffrey Dahmer as some kind of antihero, a bullied kid who lashed back at the society that rejected him. This is nonsense. Dahmer was a twisted wretch whose depravity was almost beyond comprehension. Pity him, but don’t empathize with him.” -Derf Backderf
I Love Samosas I'm with you on that?I am really proud of Ross Lynch too.
Is this movie on DVD
I Love Samosas Same
Gianna Lopez The same what,Gianna Lopez?
Alejandro Moore I said I am also proud of Ross Lynch
It's awful to deal with a manipulator. Through most of the film, you can't really find a reason to shun him away since he's kinda funny and revolting. Until the last 10 mins when his friend realised what he could do, chill down the spine instantly. Plunge into fight or flight mode.
Ross’s performance was surprisingly chilling. Really compelling movie 8/10
I remember when this happen. We watched the cops bring out freezers and drums. We watched the court room outburst. Then the book was sooooooo graphic. He drilled holes in a couple of guys heads. Dahmer was on probation while he committed these godless acts. SCARY TIME IN AMERICA. YALL BECAREFUL OUT THERE AND STAY SAFE.
Rabid Pepe Amen!
What is the name of the book??
Morgan Reiber-Mason It's the same title as the movie
Gannon who is it by?
Rabid Pepe yeah, my dad and I watched a documentary on Jeffrey, and he said the exact same thing, he remembers them carrying out the blue drums. What he did was super disgusting and disturbing, don’t trust strangers, don’t go home with them, and especially don’t take a drink from them.
Why does Ross actually look like him oml wf
Yoyokitty Bro
He always looked similar to Dahmer.
I think the real Jeff Dahmer looked better!💜
Right? When I told my mom about it she was sort of skeptical (she knew him as Austin, lol) but then I showed her a picture and she was like, "Oh... Yeah, he does creepily look kinda Dahmer-ish."
Criscilla Collins what's with the heart in your comment weirdo
Criscilla Collins wth man
i can't believe that's ross lynch lol
My great grand grand father lived about 1200km away from Dahmer, pretty crazy.

Lol
No one's gonna talk about this movie after the Netflix series lol
Nope 😂 and neither am I
What got me the most in this story is how the police and others let him get away with it for way to long
Still more normal than most post-Disney stars tho......
What the heck is normal anyways?
