If you want more details on the RAM I tested with, it's the same kit I used 2 years ago in this video with the 6800M: czcams.com/video/8XCeAdFqsKg/video.html so 1Rx8 in dual channel - an upgrade over the stock x16 stuff, as I think this should be done for optimal 6800M performance.

about vram vs raw GPU power: Textures on high quality requires a lot of vRAM. A game with ultra textures with eveything else set to medium would look MUCH better than textures set to medium but everything else to ultra. Texture quality is the most important setting for a game to look good. To sacrifice vram amount for raw performance means to lose the most important graphics quality of all.

Are you sure you are doing this laptop justice as its performance highly depends on its wattage. With proper LM repaste and a decent cooling pad like the Iets Gt500 the GPU can fully utilize 165W in Manual mode and sometimes even crank up to 170W which nets me 11k9 timespy graphic score, equivalent to rtx4070 with 50% more vram. With stock cooling the gpu throttle quite heavily depending on cooling sometimes to only 10k points which is the same with 4060 laptop (the throttle limit is 82c). Ive rocked multiple games in 4k with FSR with decent performance as its in the same tier with the 3060ti desktop with the exception of 12gb sweet vram🍭. The 4090 doesn't lose much performance at 250w vs 350w to 400w. So realistically you can put a 230w to 250w rtx 4090 into a thicker 18' laptop and maybe use a 220w to 230w rtx 4090 in a 17' laptop and still retain most of the desktop 4090's performance.
