- Wyoming Field Nobby is well known for looking a little average on the outside yet generally producing something great on the inside.
This nobby is no exception with its hazy blue top and black potch line down the bottom.
It is showing potential to cut a good gem but we all know in this industry anything can happen once you take its top off!

More public attention should be brought to how contagious opal fever really is.
Too many people already have opal fever relative to the resources available to effectively treat it.
Keep your dirty fever to yourself, Cameron. Its only an opal malaise.
I dunnoo ive been cuttin for 4 years and my opal fever is to da bone 🥴 no cure lol and extremely contagious
*Christopher Walken voice* I've got a fever...and the only cure...is more opal.
They'll try to make me go to rehab but I'll say no no no.
The first 4 minutes of the video is EXACTLY why I watch you. Thank you for being you!
Hahah I'm sorry for you
The first 4 minutes made every decent opal dealer vomit.
To be honest it looks like a winter night's sky just after sunset. Midnight's gloom and midday sun, come together, two as one.
Perfect description
It's like a little piece of the night sky...beautiful.
That stone is quite mysterious. The light-to-dark graduation of color is stunning, and the colors are mystical/magical. I could SO see this as a moon pendant or (large) ring. Lovely, as always.
Maestro, not a disease. A blessing, for all the joy you bring us. We all thank you.
It is all your fault, I didn't have opal fever until I started watching your videos. I have to admit to having a weakness for all gemstones. It was just a matter of time. Love your videos! Thanks for taking us along on the journey.
haha sorry and you are welcome al at the same time 🤪
Save your breath, hes the most expensive cutter since 1893
I like that gem better than many of the fancier ones you've cut over the years. It's relaxing to look at like a pool of deep, calm water. I'd make a fine centerpiece for many kinds of jewelry, or something like a keepsake box.
I think the stone is beautiful. It reminds me of outer space. Excellent, as always.
Thank you very much!
The ocean.
I love the fun you add to your videos. I’ve been watching since just 11k subscribers and it’s no surprise that you’re so popular now. Thank you for sharing your craft, your love and your humor.
You're the best! Thank you
This stone is very nice. It looks like a starry sky in evening when clouds and stars are present. Can visualize it in a silver bangle bracelet...or a tiara.
Justin, your elevator doesn't quite go all the way up to the top floor. But I don't think any of us would change it! Keep the awesome videos coming! Love this channel!
I love the depth of the color and variation of the blues in this stone! Everything from dark blue to teal from the looks of it!
Love it too , this colour for my taste is magnificent
My mother had a necklace with about a dozen of hazy milky blue stones. The same stuff that was sitting on top of your stone here. Mother said this is what an opal is all about, and I thought to myself - well, it's pretty nice colourful stone, but nowhere close to be as cool as something like an agate or even carnelian, that my mother also had.
And for the longest time I did not know what opals really are. And when I found out, I fell in love with them.
I'm your subscriber for a year or so, and every time you cut some precious stone out of what seems to be a piece of rock, I feel so much joy. Thank you for that!
Opals are the most beautiful gem and a lot of the beauty comes with the one of a kind patterns they often hold
I got diagnosed with opal fever shortly after finding BOD on channel! Can’t stop watching. I love seeing what you get out of your box of chocolates each week 😅❤
Haha sorry about that
I think you have one of the best professions ever. Love watching you work on opal.
Thank you! Cheers!
I actually think this stone's gradual shift from dark to milky pale is a quality in itself, since it does so symmetrically. The stone gets a natural direction, and tells a story, mayhap concerning the grand voyage of a stickleback.
Go on then, pay his 5 grand then I will sell you one twice as good for half the price, Caveat Emptor
@@joereedsmith1531 Thank you for your advice.
Excellent video Justin! The music selection was great, the opal fever bit was funny, and the gem was beautiful. If I was working right now I'd probably buy it the second it was put onto the store. I love the transitions between colors, both in the pattern and the potch. It reminds me of Avatar: The Way of Water with its color scheme. Though I was hoping that the cyan would be more pronounced in the final gem, it's still a fantastic opal!
haha! Glad you enjoyed it!
Justin, I love when you show going from the rough Opal to the finished Opal!! It really shows how much care and devotion you have to your craft when you do. Thank you for sharing another amazing journey with Opals!! From a Retired Paramedic, a S&R Dog and Handler Team Trainer, a Horse Trainer and FEI Level 2 Coach and Judge. From Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 🇨🇦
I appreciate that!
Yet another beautiful video starring Justin as a superstar of you tube creating yet another gem for this world. Just imagine how many of them gems exists thanks to you mate! Thank you. It seems that opal fever pays back to the entire wold:) Take care and carry on.
Thank you Bartosz
I never really liked opal, due to the 'bad luck' label it has been given over the years, but since catching you on CZcams I've become addicted to it. It's so nice to see so much love that goes into each one you cut, even if they don't have much monetary value, is such a wonderful thing to watch. I sometimes think the 'lesser' ones are much nicer than some of the 'better' ones (not saying that they are not beautiful), but I like them because they are 'different' and not having different would make them less special. Black opals are now a very close second to my favourite gem Amethyst. Not by much lol. Thank you so much for giving us a chance to see the hard work that goes into making them so special.
Haha thank you. Something is only bad luck if you are superstitious
Hey Justin, great video, had me smiling as you described the “fever”…I got it, can’t loose it, don’t want to, anyway! Nice stone too, first time I have heard that term you used…Commercial Opal, I think I have many of those in my collection. Cheers for now.

Glad you enjoyed it!
The imperfect stones with interesting color differences across the face and deep in the stone, as well as interesting inclusions are my favorites! It's like the stone wants to be a one-of.
“Kinda like a baby boy when…” 🤣 That bit slayed me 😂😂
lol
The failures can lead to being grateful, and truly able to appreciate the successes, rather then take them for granted.
Thanks again for your humble and gracious spirit.
Great that you are not just showing us the best gems. keep up the good work!
Congratulations on such a High Achievement! Wow Justin... you never cease to Impress!! 👊❤🥳
Hahah thank you
Your opal fever is contagious! I may never collect or cut them but I’m definitely obsessed with watching you cut them! It’s like Christmas! Even the small portion that don’t pan out are interesting learning experiences 💕
I have to admit I HAVE AN ADICTION.. It's watching you, Justin. :) Your passion, your great gift of seing the possibilities in a "stone" that others might see lying around - and walk right past - without knowing what it is. Seeing your face when you discover a "color" in the stone that surprises you. And finally: your humility
Wow, thanks so much Kirsten
@@blackopaldirect 🥰
That is a nice stone, beautiful but subtle. I cut my first opal at 13 but have controlled it, mostly , for 60 years but that magic stone is still around me. Pieces scattered in my rock garden, decorating my fish tanks, knobs on my saucepan lids and a few as jewellery.
Your obsession became a social media hit. 👍 up to you
This is my favorite opal you've done. It's the violet hour in a gem.
That little skit was hilarious. I love when there is comedy and really pretty gems I the same video.
Justin you are the funniest! The award had me rolling.🤣😂😆 I think as long as you aren't skulking in the shadows crouched down saying "My precious!" just holding your rocks and you are cutting opal well,.....I think it's safe to say You are going to be ok. 🤭🎇💍💙💜💚
😂😂
Love the outcome. Subtle beauty is underrated.
Beautiful, the opal looks like a patch of starry night sky.
I really like that stone-if I had the money,I'd buy it! It has a beautiful color and depth!
Stunning, as always !
Great little skit Justin
Love your works 💗😉
YOU my friend...are who gave me "opal fever". I thank you for that❣️ The ones with red and orange are my FAVORITE! YOU ROCK!!!
You are so welcome. Haha. Sorry not sorry
Love the color!!!! Cheers Justin!
I love your dry Spence of humour. You are as colourful as the opals you form.
I really love this video. We get your live commentary, really great editing with different camera angle shots, your classic humor, and it all wraps up into a polished video that was really fun to watch
Oh Justin 😆 As the mother of twin sons I can understand your need for help. 🤣😂🤣😂 I enjoy your coping mechanism soooo much!!! 💙💜
Haha twins that is one miracle of life right there
Love your sense of humor
Yay was so excited for this video
Another great show. Always fun and amazing to see the transformation of you and your opals.
Thanks again!
I always love your skits! They're super funny
I loved the colors. Tricolor with polka-dots... Beautiful!
Your opening was darn funny. Thank you!
Beautiful as always 😁
I definitely have gotten opal fever by watching your videos!!! I have a few pieces from you, and I bought a necklace that gets a lot of complements. I proudly tell them where I got it from!! Thank you for another great video!!!
So relaxing!!!
Hahahahahah the intro to this video is fantastic!
Start the wheel spinning and the water dripping! Let the magic begin! 😍
It was a father and son team from whom I bought some opals on the mess deck of the USS Fox when we were tied up at HMS Sterling off of Rockingham, Western Australia in the early 1980s. The bulk of the battle group had tied up in Freemantle, including the carrier. I was grateful that we got the privilege of being on our own in a less urban environment, although we did get the opportunity to stay in Perth for a day or two.
Beautiful Piece..
Love the opal fever!
Justin, love your channel, been watching for 2 years now and love opal, and watching your skill, love opal
Always love this start to finish video. 👍🏻
Glad to hear it! Thank you Rick
Now I know what disease has been plaguing me! Thank you for the diagnosis- it saved me some medical bills- money I can, in turn, spend on opals!
And that opal is like the night sky- it’s like you can see the universe when diving in with your eyes- stars twinkling and all. ✨
So pretty. I like this pattern!
This isby far one of my all time faves 💜💙🖤💜
You're just so lovable. Thank you for sharing your passion.
You are so welcome! 🙏🙏❤️
I’ve Been following you for a while now You should do a recap video of all the times you thought a stone is not going to produce and came out incredible it’s very exciting to see the surprise on your face when things work out better than you thought 11:19
Great content. Love the opal fever segment 😂
I realy like this stone. The gradient of light blue to dark blue makes it stunning.
I truly love your antics. Daaaang that was funny.
Thank you Cody haha
Personaly i'm in love with this one
I think this stone is stunning😍
thank you for sharing the adventure 😀
Our pleasure!
Such a nice stone came out of what looked like just another rock!
Justin is such a lucky guy. He gets to make money off women and gets to go in many times a day all while videoing it so over 100000 people can watch. What a blessed man.
That's really beautiful!! Awesome job!! 👍👍😁
Thank you so much 😀
Love this one ..the purple❤
For a gem cutter you're a born entertainer Justin. You make the adventure of discovering what's inside each stone a lot of fun!
Thank you Luther 🙏
I just found your channel, I never really saw opals before, and I’m falling in love with them. They’re so beautiful.
You're too funny and yes we all have "Opal fever" and rightfully so. IMO it turned out to be very nice. I like how it transitions across the face.
I love the opals, but I love and appreciate your take on life even more. I am so glad I found you!
Thank you so much!
I absolutely love the color of this stone -- blue being a favorite of mine. And the stardust pattern -- like a nebula, or some such. I do also love reds and greens, but this has such a heavenly appeal to it! Thanks for all your videos! ❤
Hilarious I just love you. I look forward to all your videos
Nice Justin, Quality gem quality video. I actually like the graduated tone (dark to light) in the gem.
I caught Opal Fever at the age of 14 when my brother bought three Orange opals home, the largest about 33 carats. Then, I bought my
first opal ring with 6 6×4 CP opals
which I treasured for years. When I
retired, my boss gave me her ring,
a Mexican fire opal and I have loved
and treasured it for years. The pla y of color in opals never fails to intrigue, mystify. Thank you, God,
for giving us gems.
Hi Justin, thank you for sharing your knowledge and craftmanship. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Kinda like a baby boy when he first finds..... Omg I laughed way to hard at that lol. :)
I actually really like this one. It reminds me of the starry sky. ✨️ thanks for infecting us with opal fever.
Double the entertainment, keep it up my man!
😆😆😆 too good.
Amazing Craftsmanship 👍👍🏾👍🏻
My heart goes out to you. Opal fever is an incurable ailment.... some never come to terms with it. :)
Very beautiful 💜 Thank you for sharing your knowlage. I have opal fever for sure and any pretty rocks. 😊
Just what I need, another itch I can't scratch!🤩🤑
Ow that looks like a nebula love it!
You're not alone, boss. It is a very contagious fever.
Beautiful- looks like a starry starry night 🌃
It does!
I love watching your talent when I have a issue with claustrophobia all respect for those miners I could never go down that hole LMAO
You did wonderful with a sub par opal.
Definitely a nice job done
The one about the baby boy 🤣
laughed out loud for that one!
It’s so true
I love, love the celestial feel that this stone has.
Lol love the analogy of opal fever and your obsession with it. I almost blew coffee out my nostrils!
Then I almost got the desired effect from you haha
