I learnt this many years ago from this exact tutorial... recently, in my school, we held an art competition, and my art teacher wanted some ornaments that wouldn’t be entered, just to decorate the hall, as an extra object to look at whilst judging the paintings. She decided to make a life-size bell dress out of craft materials, but didn’t know what to do for the roses on the dress. When in class we had free session, I thought of the rose and wanted to make one for fun... our art teacher saw the rose I made, and instantly asked me if I could make a lot for the dress sculpture. Even though I wasn’t old enough to join arts extension group, I was still able to join for a period of time each day because of my rose making ability. Later in the month, I managed to make 575 roses of different sizes, and help to hot-glue them to the dress. The sculpture was really liked by everyone on the day, so it was a huge success! I entered a painting I had made as well, and I won the whole art competition! I was so happy because I had won, and because I had helped to make the best ornament of the night.

I remembered my highschool days with similar experience but it was with our science club booth and it was with a paper crane origami.

they don't explain the steps verbally, i think this makes it more difficult to follow instructions. also, my origami papers have one colored, one white side, so it is even more difficult for me :(

My very first rose was with a piece of white paper and it looks HORRIBLE.
I got the right paper and it looks a lot better and holds perfectly.

im up at 1:17 discovering the glory that is origami. I got a little stuck around 3:00 but I finally realized I had to dig through it and then flatten it out haha. This was very pleasant to make for myself, thank you so much (: Might form a new little skill tonight

If anyone's doing it with paper that have different coloured sides - start on the side with the colour you DON'T want to be seen from the top. (I.e., the colour you don't want the petals to be from above).
I put the speed on 0.5 so that I could keep up :)

I know I’m late to the party, but to those who are complaining that this is hard, this is, for origami, relatively easy. I’ve been doing origami for years now, and compared to some, this isn’t very difficult. Not having experience may make this hard, so if you’re having difficulty, I recommend starting somewhere simpler! 😊

At the twisty part is when I realized, I need paper made for origami .-.
I know, right? I used some damaged sheets from an old book. It got a vintage look but it was too delicate for the twist part.

I made these today and gave one each to my parents. My mum thought they were clever, especially how the petals folded back.
There were some parts I had to watch a few times but it was fun to just watch and learn and just figure it out without narration.

Yes, it can be any size rose, as the creator had said. In one conversation Bernadette Millares asked "can the paper be 6x6?" and Craft TV replied, "It is OK. But the flower will be smaller." In any case, yes, you can use any size paper.

People are going off saying this was a shitty tutorial but actually I really enjoyed it, I just got some pastel floral origami paper as an early christmas gift and wanted to try out roses and found this. I got a bit confused around 3:04 but I got the hang of it. This was really useful and fun!
