Mary, the Ark of the New Covenant

  • Have you ever wondered why Catholics revere Mary and even call her "holy"? Why is she "set apart" (i.e., holy)? What does the Bible say about Mary and how does the New Testament depict her? How are Mary and the Old Ark of the Covenant from the Exodus connected? And, what relevance does that have?
In this video, taken from Dr. Pitre's 1hr+ presentation, Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary (see link below), Dr. Pitre explores what the Bible teaches about Mary and what the Gospel of Luke and St. John in the Book of Revelation, in particular reveal to us about Mary.
It is certainly understandable that without looking at the New Testament in light of the Old, one could easily overlook the importance the authors of the New Testament place on Mary.
However, after seeing the connections that the Holy Spirit gives us through the authors like St. Luke and St. John, hopefully you will never be able to miss what God, through the inspired word, is telling us about the Blessed Virgin Mary and the difference it should make in your spiritual life and the way you read the Bible.

kim burley I guess God broke his own Commandment when He commanded Moses in ( Numbers 21:8), “Carve an image upon your staff and whoever gazes upon it shall be healed.” Kim, the Bible teaches that God approves the use and veneration of sacred pictures and images to stimulate religious fervor. ( Exodus 25:18), “ And you shalt make two cherubim’s of gold, of beaten work shalt you make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.” ( 1 Kings 6:29), “ And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, within and without.” So Kim, we are not forbidden “ to make thyself a graven image,” except when this is to be set up and adored as a god. As Catholics, we do not do this, that’s stupid! Down the street from where I live, there is a protestant cemetery. I go for walks there for exercise, and very often I will see a protestant kneeling or bowing down before the headstone with a photograph of their love one, within the headstone. I hear them crying, and talking to their love one that’s buried there. Have I ever thought that they are worshiping and breaking God’s commandment about graven images while kneeling down to the headstone talking to their deceased loved one? Not for an instant! Their mind and they’re broken hearts are uplifted to the one that is buried there, there’s no worshiping a headstone nor a corpse that’s buried 6 feet under. Ridiculous!

kim burley Kim, go to Kentucky at the Noah’s Ark Museum where all the Protestants go to see lots of graven images, and get their photo taken with the graven images with smiles on their faces. Yep, go there Kim, pick on your own kind, convert the Protestants from their Idolatrous behavior. As Jesus said; “ before you try to remove the splinter from someone else’s eye, first remove the log from your own.”

    • @Michael-vj2ub
      @Michael-vj2ub Před 4 lety +9

kim burley We do not bow down to the image. We bow at who the image represents, out of respect, not worship. Much like when you salute the flag of the United States of America, are you saluting a piece of cloth with stars and stripes on it, or are you saluting what that flag with stars and stripes on it represents? There’s many ways that we can bow down and worship an image. If we have too much pride in our lives, every time we look into a mirror we bow down to our own image.

Unfortunately he got one thing wrong here. Mary did not stay a virgin. I'll prove it. In Matthew 1:24-25 it reads 24 then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the lord bidden him, and took unto him his wife, 25 and knew her not till she brought forth her first born son and he called his name Jesus. " the word knew or to know here is ginóskó which also means sexual intimacy. This makes sense because Joseph already knew her, but the know this passage talks about is sexual intimacy. The verses you cited don't actually prove what you think they do.
The word "till" or "until" denotes a specific point in time. That point in time in this case, being the birth of Jesus. So from the text, we know that Joseph did not have sexual relations with Mary prior to the birth of Jesus.
Now, does that prove anything after that point in time? No, only up to that specific event. Afterwards both options, him having relations with her and him not having relations with her, are still viable. Let me explain with an example. If I were to write, "She loved her husband until the day he died." Did she stop loving him the moment he died? Or did she still love him after he had passed? You see, "until" does not prove anything after the stated point in time, just what is prior. To say that it proves one way or the other is to add your own personal interpretation to the text.
There are also other examples of this in Scripture, where "until" does not prove the negative. 1 Corinthians 15:25 states, "For he [Christ] must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet." Does this mean Christ's reign ends once His enemies are defeated? Of course not! Christ reigns forever.
So Matthew 1:25 does not prove that Joseph and Mary had sexual relations; it only proves that they did not have them prior to the birth of Christ. This was to emphasize that Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit and not of a man, such as Joseph.

      The new Ark, new Eve
Wouldn’t the bride of Christ be a more appropriate eve?? Having mary as the new eve is a little incestual. Mary wasn’t the NT focus unless you shoe in “The Gospel of James”.
Was it not Adam who is credited for the fall rather than eve? Did Paul not say For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ??? Even replacing eve argumentatively seems out of character with scripture. Its about correcting Adam, not eve.
Mary as the new Ark, thats obvious in logic, but the original ark wasn’t a focal point but a carrier. The cloud of God was above the Ark. all bowed to the cloud presence of God, not the ark. The original Ark carried scripture, Gods truth, not God himself. Today wouldn’t the new ark be the pillar and foundation of the Truth?
Does it not seem odd that the current established 4 Marion dogmas are listed in The Protoevangelium of James and Pseudo-Matthew which is rejected by the Roman Catholic church?

If so, it can’t be a coincidence that the language employed by Luke in 1:39-45 has striking similarities to passages in 2 Samuel 6:1-12. Nor can we fail to see the parallels between Mary’s Magnificat in Luke 1:46-56 with the song of Hannah in 1 Samuel 2:1-10. We need to read Scripture as a whole and make logical inferences. The Catholic Church gave the Holy Bible to the world. Over 1500 years later, Protestants rewrote it, deleted verses, chapters, books and changed wording to both the Bible and the Ten Commandments.
Revelation 22:18 For I call as witnesses all listeners of the words of the prophecy of this book. If anyone will have added to these, God will add upon him the afflictions written in this book.
Revelation 22:19 And if anyone will have taken away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his portion from the Book of Life, and from the Holy City, and from these things which have been written in this book.
Also, Jesus Christ established The One True Apostolic Catholic Church and set His Doctrine in His Church. He wants everyone to be His Church and remain in His Doctrine.
Matthew 16:18 And I say to you, that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.
Matthew 16:19 And I will give YOU the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatever YOU shall bind on earth shall be bound, even in heaven. And whatever YOU shall release on earth shall be released, even in heaven.”
1 Corinthians 12:28 And indeed, God has established a certain order in the Church: first Apostles, second Prophets, third Teachers, next miracle-workers, and then the grace of healing, of helping others, of governing, of different kinds of languages, and of the interpretation of words.
Mark 3:14 And he acted so that the twelve would be with him, and so that he might send them out to preach.
Mark 3:15 And he gave them authority to cure infirmities, and to cast out demons:

Ephesians 4:4 One body and one Spirit: to this you have been called by the one hope of your calling:
Ephesians 4:5 one Lord, ONE FAITH, one baptism,
Ephesians 4:6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.
John 10:16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold, and I must lead them. They shall hear my voice, and there shall be one sheepfold and one shepherd.
John 17:20 But I am not praying for them only, but also for those who through their word shall believe in me.
John 17:21 So may they all be one. Just as you, Father, are in me, and I am in you, so also may they be one in us: so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
John 17:22 And the glory that you have given to me, I have given to them, so that they may be one, just as we also are one.
John 17:23 I am in them, and you are in me. So may they be perfected as one. And may the world know that you have sent me and that you have loved them, just as you have also loved me.
John 17:24 Father, I will that where I am, those whom you have given to me may also be with me, so that they may see my glory which you have given to me. For you loved me before the founding of the world.
2 John 1:9 Everyone who withdraws and does not remain in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God. Whoever remains in the doctrine, such a one as this has both the Father and the Son.
Hebrews 13:9 Do not be led away by changing or strange doctrines. And it is best for the heart to be sustained by grace, not by foods. For the latter have not been as useful to those who walked by them.
Galatians 1:6 I wonder that you have been so quickly transferred, from him who called you into the grace of Christ, over to another gospel.
Galatians 1:7 For there is no other, except that there are some persons who disturb you and who want to overturn the Gospel of Christ.
Galatians 1:8 But if anyone, even we ourselves or an Angel from Heaven, were to preach to you a gospel other than the one that we have preached to you, let him be anathema.
Galatians 1:9 Just as we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone has preached a gospel to you, other than that which you have received, let him be anathema.

      >>>Although Peter recognized himself as an apostle (see, e.g., 1 Pet. 1:1; 2 Pet. 1:1), he never claimed a superior title, rank, or privilege over the other apostles. He even referred to himself as a “fellow elder” (1 Pet. 5:1) and as “a bond-servant” of Christ (2 Pet. 1:1). Far from claiming honor and homage for himself, he soberly warns his fellow elders to guard against lording it over those under their pastoral care (1 Pet. 5:3). The only glory he claimed for himself was that which is shared by all believers and which is yet “to be revealed, … when the Chief Shepherd appears” (vv. 1, 4).

No, Mary is not the Ark. Jesus is the Ark. The woman in Revelation is not Mary, it is the nation of Israel. Who was the woman in the OT? Israel. Who was called God's wife in the OT? Israel.
Read past Revelation 12:1. On her head was a crown of 12 stars, that is the twelve tribes of Israel. She was about to give birth and Satan was waiting to devour her child. The child was caught up to heaven and the woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her. That is during the Tribulation protecting the remnant of Israel from the Anti-Christ.

@Eternally Catholic Apparently it was the apostles and 120 more believers/disciples. It's good that Mary did believe in Jesus as her savior. It was the birthday of the church in Jerusalem, the mother church. Other churches were started in time with the spreading of the Gospel, which is universal (the meaning of the word catholic).
I found the truth, the door opened to me, many decades ago. I pray you will also, keep pursuing to find the REAL TRUTH.

    • @joycegreer9391
      @joycegreer9391 Před rokem +1

@Eternally Catholic Israel in the NT is Israel, God's chosen people always.
"Holy Mother Church patterned off of Our Lady...doing it through His woman, the Holy Catholic Church"----That is pagan.
"God chooses to crush satan through His woman. God is inside her...The Church is the mystical body of Christ and we simultaneously reside under the mantle of Holy Mother Church....Through Mother Mary is how God is going to crush satan's head once and for all....both must be sinless to renew humanity"----THAT is apostasy and heresy.
Adam and Eve were husband and wife, NOT son and mother. This is the pagan worship of mother and son. ONLY Jesus is the sinless Son of God and Son of Man, the second Adam. Israel is the true woman/mother; Mary is just the vessel and NOT sinless. THAT is why Jesus would have called her woman and not mother after He was grown, and she is just a human woman.
The SEED of the woman will crush Satan's head. SEED only=the Messiah, the Savior. NOT the woman, NOT the woman and her seed. Churches do not crush Satan on a daily basis. Satan is the default ruler of our fallen world. We live in enemy territory. Only Jesus will crush Satan, in the future. Christians can have victory over Satan, but only as individuals. Sorry, but the RCC doesn't resist Satan. History proves that. The church in Rome was never holy mother church.
The Church of Jesus Christ is His Body, His Bride. It's not mystical, and it's not any particular church. It is comprised of ALL true believers of ALL the ages from churches, from no churches.

    • @joycegreer9391
      @joycegreer9391 Před rokem +1

@Eternally Catholic What we know is that the word catholic means universal, not any specific church. That is the usage in the first few centuries. Roman Catholicism did not exist the first few centuries. Jesus did not found any physical churches. He trained and commissioned his apostles who went on to found several churches, with missionaries continuing planting churches throughout the centuries.
No, Protestants did not take books out of the Bible. The RCC added books to the Bible. The Hebrew scriptures did not include those seven books and never had. Israel rejected those books as inspired scripture, historical books only. Jesus, the apostles, usage in the Temple was only the Hebrew scriptures. The RCC used the controversial Septuagint for the OT which included the apocrypha.
Of course the OT already existed. The books of the NT were decided by early believers in the 1st and early 2nd century by their usage and acceptance out of all the early writings. RCC councils in later centuries were only a formality for what had already been long decided.
"Pope Linus is even mentioned as being in Rome with Saints Peter and Paul in the Bible."
No. The only place in the Bible where a Linus is mentioned is 2 Timothy 4:21. There are no further details regarding this Linus nor is Peter mentioned either. There would only be extra-Biblical tradition regarding your assertion.
Jesus is the fulfillment of the Ark of the Covenant. He is our Ark.
"two angels, one sitting at each end of the slab which had held the broken body of our Lord. That scene points us back to the Ark of the Covenant where two cherubim hovered over its blood splattered mercy seat!
There is no more need for the Ark. Jesus has fulfilled all that the Ark stood for. He was deity who took on flesh. He rendered complete obedience to the Law, being made perfect and becoming the source of our salvation (Hebrews 5:8-9). His blood was shed for our sins, and His victory is attested by the fact and the power of His resurrection.
Just as the Ark was designed to be a symbol of the presence of God in the midst of His people, Jesus is the ultimate expression of God’s love and care and presence. He is our Ark. He is our Law. He is our Manna. He is our Budded Rod. And, thank God, He is our Mercy Seat."
Yes, Satan doesn't want you to know the Truth and authentic history. Pray for your eyes to be opened.

People cite Rom 3:28-30, 4:3, 4:5, etc, Gal 2:16. to argue for justification by faith without works. St Paul meant circumcision by the term works of the Law. The council of Jerusalem had settled the issue and gentiles need not be circumcised in order to be baptized. Hence the church had decided that circumcision is not required for salvation. The people who argue this way never cite verses from the book of James who speaks about works of charity and mercy. Is not the book of James part of the Bible.? The Catholic Church correctly balances the teaching of the entire Bible. Like a good parent it will not feed the children with snakes and scorpions.

@Janette Davis Yes there are deeds and no one is saying sit on your bottom and do nothing . You might notice Paul says you are saved by grace and he says it twice in Ephesians as he is making a point to those that are listening. He also points out that it is not Grace and works . V 9
Eph 2: 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
James points out that faith without works is dead James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
However we are not saved because of our works . Works is something God has planned for us Eph 2:10 . Works of faith that we do, is in response to what God has given us, not what we do to get salvation, as salvation is given to us as a gift . No one works for the gift , they just accept it. No one given the gift of salvation will turn around and go back to their old ways of life as there will always be a positive response to a good gift.

Here is the Biblical Typology for Mary as the New Ark.
      Notice how Luke parallels Samuel.
The same thing can be done for Mary as the New Eve.

2 SAMUEL: David SHOUTS in the PRESENCE of the Ark
LUKE: Elizabeth exclaims in a LOUD CRY in the PRESENCE of Mary

I saw it from 2 angles. 1) looking down at it like. I could see boards that ran crossways. As if the boat were some how open maybe? Idk. Then I saw as if I were looking at it from the side and it wae complete or finished? I can't explain it. I could sense that this ark or Mary and it was mans last chance or offer of Salvation. Dr. Porte, you are a wonderful teacher. Although I agree Mary was very special, and symbolically very significant, you did not address the concept of the church being the mother as in Galatians 4. Using your teaching of the beatitudes, Doesn’t it make sense that Mary was blessed above all women because she not only experienced the suffering of losing a son in his prime, she was fully aware of his innocence and of the injustice being done to Him? In other words, as you teach, she was blessed above all women, because she suffered the most.

If Mary was the Ark because Jesus indwelled her for 9 months, does that mean that Believers are now the Ark since Jesus now indwells us (John 14:23) ?? *JESUS is the Ark -- everything inside and outside the Ark represents Jesus. The MOST IMPORTANT part of the Ark that symbolizes Jesus and our New Covenant with God is the MERCY SEAT -- Jesus being the mercy of God to a lost and sinful world -- and the Mercy Seat was NOT INSIDE the Ark -- it was the lid of the Ark.*
Soooo..... for you to suggest that Mark was the Ark because she housed the rod/bread/law that represented Jesus -- but did NOT house the most important part of the Ark that symbolized Jesus and our New Covenant thru Jesus -- is RIDICULOUS.
*You are guilty of giving all of the glorious attributes that belong to GOD/Messiah ALONE* -- sinless, immaculately conceived, Ark, mediator, redeemer, giver of grace, leader to Christ, protector, crusher of Satan, etc -- *to a mere female creature -- GOD HATES THAT -- read ROMANS 1:25-28.* Now you know why there is rampant homosexuality in the Roman hierarchy that teaches these heresies.

Matthew 23:9 And do not call anyone on earth `father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. Nor are you to be called `teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ. The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
--Jesus is speaking in spiritual terms. It is okay to you dad, father---because he is an imitation of our father in heaven.--(at least he is supposed to be).
      -Just as Jesus spoke here:
Matthew 12:48-50 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”
The people were speaking biologically. Jesus spoke spiritually.
quote---- or that statues are bad.... unquote
Depends on what that statue is used for..
Is is for worship? Is one to bow to it?? Ask it questions expecting a reply?
      Pray to it?
Or is it just a image of someone famous???
NO ONE know what Mary looked like. Yes, there are paintings of Mary.
      Was the painter right there?
      The earliest painting of Mary?
The Roman Priscilla catacombs contain the known oldest Marian paintings, dating from the middle of the second century. In one, Mary is shown with the infant Jesus on her lap. The Priscilla catacomb also includes the oldest known fresco of the Annunciation, dating to the 4th century.
At least 60 plus years AFTER Mary died!!! The painter did NOT see Mary to paint it!!!
Mary saw Jesus crucified about 33 AD... John was arrested and sent to Patmos.
When was John imprisoned on Patmos?
      95 AD
It is believed that John and Mary came to Ephesus and that John became the leader of the Church at Ephesus. Eventually, he was captured in a persecution campaign by the Roman Emperor Domitian and was ultimately banished to Patmos (Revelation 1:9-10) in 95 AD.
That would make Mary OVER 100 years old!!!
One tradition says that Mary died in AD 43 and another in AD 48, but we have no way of confirming either date.
Since it is agreed by Catholics , Mary was born around 18BC.--If she died about 48AD--that makes her age at death about 66.

Here is just one paragraph from Fr. Michael O'Carroll's "Theotokos: A Theological Encyclopedia of the Blessed Virgin Mary," 1982, a Michael Glazier Book published by the Liturgical Press, under the entry for "Ark of the Covenant:" 'In a fragment from St. Irenaeus (qv) we read: "That Ark is shown to be a type of the body of Christ pure and undefiled..." It was Hippolytus of Rome (qv) who first related the Ark to Our Lady: "Now the Lord was without sin, being in his human nature from incorruptible wood, that is from the Virgin, and being sheathed, as it were, with the pure gold of the Word within and of the Spirit without." In the Coptic sermon attributed to Athanasius (qv), which if not authentic is probably of the fourth century, Our Lady is addressed thus: "O Ark of the new covenant, clad on all sides with purity in place of gold; the one in whom is found the golden vase with its true manna, that is the flesh in which lies the God-head." In a Pseudo Athanasian sermon for the Presentation of the Lord, which is certainly fifth century, David is said to call Mary the Ark of sanctification.'

He will not do it because Catholic Church does not formally teach it. There is an open debate in Catholic Church on Mary as Co-Redemptrix and Mediatrix of all Graces. I believe that Mary is both Co-Redemptrix and Mediatrix of all Graces. This can be demonstrated with Mary as the Ark of the new covenant and Mary as Eve. However I will only focus on Mary as Ark. Our Redemption was won through the Victory of Jesus over Satan/Sin/Death. Jesus who is God redeemed us. But through Mary’s acceptance and cooperation with God’s mission for her, Mary is co-redemptrix. Co does not mean equal but instead stresses the fact God ordained Mary to be a part of his plan of redemption. Mary did not save us but God used Mary to bring Jesus in our midst who is our savior. This is similar to Ark of old covenant. It was God who gave Jews victory but God used the Ark to bring His presence in their midst whereby the Jews received God’s gift of victory over their enemies.

quote--- God's own Mother Blessed! Ever sinless Virgin,..unquote
Then that makes God a liar!!!
      ----And the Hebrews!!!
first of all: 1 Corinthians 7:1-16
The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.
along with this: Where in the Bible does it say not to deny your husband?
      1 Corinthians 7:5
Do not deny yourselves to each other, unless you first agree to do so for a while in order to spend your time in prayer; but then resume normal marital relations. In this way you will be kept from giving in to Satan's temptation because of your lack of self-control.
If Mary kept herself from Joseph, that makes her a sinner twice!!!!
----What is God's purpose for married couples?
      God's Three Purposes For Marriage
God designed marriage so that man and woman could come together and be saved from their sins. When husband and wife come together in holy matrimony, they commit to God's plan for their lives. This plan includes raising children in a God-fearing home and helping each other stay on the path to salvation.
      >>>What does the Bible say about newly married couples?
“If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married” (Deut. 24:5).
      >>>Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
      >>Genesis 9:7 And you, be fruitful and multiply, increase greatly on the earth and multiply in it.”
      >>>Leviticus 26:9 I will turn to you and make you fruitful and multiply you and will confirm my covenant with you.
      >>>Genesis 26:24 And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Fear not, for I am with you and will bless you and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham's sake.”
      >>>John 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
      >>>Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
You seem to think God (priest) did NOT say the same to Joseph and Mary!!!i
Catholics add and take away from the word of God---then I will do the same.
--What is the end goal of a newely married couple???
      Genesis 1:28, Genesis 9:7 , Genesis 9:1 , Genesis 1:22 , Genesis 35:11 , Genesis 48:4 , Genesis 28:3 , Leviticus 26:9, Genesis 9:1-29 , Ephesians 6:4, Genesis 22:17 , Genesis 16:10 , John 15:16 , Genesis 2:24 , Hebrews 6:14 , Genesis 17:2 , Deuteronomy 8:1 , Ezekiel 36:10 , Exodus 32:13 .
Yes--some of those quotes are given ONLY to specific people. Why not to Joseph and Mary???
      >>> Catholics have created a monster, called The Blessed Virgin, or Queen of Heaven. The Catholic Mary is a fraud, a demonic myth. Catholics teach that Mary was born without a sin-nature (called the Immaculate Conception), lived a sinless life, remained aperpetual virgin, and was bodily assumed into Heaven. Not one of these false doctrines can be supported with the Bible. Yet, Catholics fully reject the Word of God to keep their own TRADITIONS instead (Mark 7:9).
      >>>Matthew 13:55, 56
That’s five sons minimum, (Jesus, James, Joseph, Simon and Judah) and two daughters minimum (“his sisters”, plural).
How many brothers and sisters did Jesus have?
The brothers of Jesus or the adelphoi (Greek: ἀδελφοί, translit. adelphoí, lit. "of the same womb") are named in the New Testament as James, Joses (a form of Joseph), Simon, and Jude, and unnamed sisters are mentioned in Mark and Matthew.
AGAIN--OF THE SAME WOMB!!!!------half siblings CAN NOT be of the SAME WOMB!!!!!---unless Mary remarried after Joseph died, and HAD MORE CHILDREN!!! Which again means she did NOT remain a virgin.
AND----1 Corinthians 7:5 Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
--If Mary had no sex with Joseph, she then IS DISOBEYING GOD!!! THAT MAKES HER A SINNER!!!!!

Any thing pertaining to the Gospels and the New Covenant and the way of salvation Is found in the scriptures of The New Testament Letters to the Churches It looks like that the Catholic want to prove their false doctrine have to go to the Old Testament and fine A parallel try and prove some thing that is not in the scriptures . like mary is the new ark she is the new eve and the ritual of the eucharist which is not in the new testament scriptures there Is no call for a priest the Old Covenant was done away with and replaced with the New Covenant it looks like in your Mass and the eucharist you believe that Christ is present the only way he would be present is in the bodies of the saved worshipers if you have any . You continue to sacrifice Christ in the Mass and the Eucharist . Christ is the High Priest and he is the sacrificial Lamb and he died once and shed his blood once there can be no more sacrifices for sins what Christ was talking about in John 6 was all spiritual not literal Christ says the words that I speak unto you are spiritual and they are Life verse 63 . I repented of my sins and ask God to come in to my heart and save me I don`t have to ask him every day he save me and gave me his spirit and at the same time added me to his Church . his body the only true Church made up of the save who gave their life to Christ by faith I am Baptized by the one spirit in to the one body the Church which is Christ 1 Cor. 12 : 12 - 13 and it is the only Church that will meet him in the air at the rapture . Paul gives us an example for the Communion in 1 Cor 11 : 23 - 26

The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. This is what those verses actually say. You can look at the Greek or the Septuagint. They both say this. Jerome mistranslated these verses. She was never sin-free. The Ark is with God by the time these things came about. The verse in Revelation is about the ancient Ark. It is not about Mary. Neither is Rev.12. The whole chapter is about Israel. The woman is a sign and it is not Mary. John saw a dragon also but it too was a sign. The sun, moon, and stars refer to Genesis 37. It is about Joseph's dreams. The stars are his brothers, they and Joseph make up the 12 tribes of Israel. The Sun represents Jacob and the moon is Rachel. Mary was never ever dressed like that except in Catholic paintings which are wrong. Read all of 12 and put the nation of Israel instead of Mary in the passages. @@St.IrenaeusOfLyons Adam and Eve were created without sin
      .
Adam and Eve were created by God perfectly with spirit and flesh. When lucifer in the form of a snake comes into the garden Gen 3:3 but about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You must not eat of it or touch it, or you will die.’ ” 4 “You will not surely die,” the serpent told her. 5“ For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”…
So what died when Eve bit into the pomegranate? Adam and Eve both died spiritually and lived on physically. God created man in His image and Adam had children in his image , spiritually dead ,physically alive. Gen 5:1-3
The New Testament is explicit that Jesus is the New Adam and very strongly implicit that Mary is the New Eve.
Jesus is the firstborn over all of creation, to be born without sin. Mary the mother of Jesus fulfilled her role as the mother of the human side of Jesus but beyond that she is not the new Eve. Now you said
"very strongly implicit that Mary is the New Eve. "
can you site specific passages in scripture that would point this out?
Certainly early Christian luminaries thought so including Irenaeus (circa 130-202) and a host of others who compared and contrasted Eve and Mary in their writings or homilies.
CCC 411 has this statement " she was preserved from all stain of original sin and by a special grace of God committed no sin of any kind during her whole earthly life "
and yet the scriptures tell us Mary's song and in it she claims God as her savior? Why if she is without sin there is no reason to have a savior! If Mary was indeed without sin then she would be part of the Godhead as they are without sin. So shall we add one more person to the trinity?
As to CCC 411 there are no references given for that belief? As to the early church fathers they, like us today ,were subject to having their own opinions and we need to go to scripture for our truth not to someone with an opinion.
Jesus strangely called her "Woman" there and again from the cross, likening her to Eve.
Woman was a compliment where today it would not be considered the same. Mary was the mother of Jesus and of the twenty verses in scripture that point out Mary the mother of Jesus ,there is not one verse that makes her out to be what the roman Catholic church has claimed for her!
      1. Mary is the most blessed woman on earth in all the ages .
2.Mary is the mother of Jesus .
that is what the scriptures say about Mary .

      @@bobloblawb2593 Hi Bob. Several points:
      1) One can BOTH have a savior and be sinless if prevented by grace from sinning. That is, one can be saved BEFORE ever sinning. Catholicism holds that God gave Mary a plenitude of grace. Eastern Orthodoxy calls Mary "panagia" - "All Holy."
      2) There is a difference between a few opinions of the Fathers of the Church and a consensus patrum. The idea of Mary as the New Eve was so widespread that it was proverbial and quite early. Justin Martyr wrote circa 160 AD: “Eve, who was a virgin and undefiled, having conceived the word of the serpent, brought forth disobedience and death. But the Virgin Mary conceived faith and joy, when the angel Gabriel announced the good tidings to her that the Spirit of the Lord would come upon her, and the power of the Highest would overshadow her: wherefore also the Holy One begotten of her is the Son of God” (Dial. 100). Irenaeus of Lyons wrote circa 174-189 "it was that the knot of Eve's disobedience was loosed by the obedience of Mary. For what the virgin Eve had bound fast through unbelief, this did the virgin Mary set free through faith" ("Against Heresies," III, 22). And there is a multitude of additional examples.
      3) "Woman" was an extremely rare expression for a son to use toward his mother and not a mere "compliment."
      4) The Wedding at Cana can be seen as the culmination, the seventh day, of a new creation. John's Gospel begins with "In the beginning..." and when we get to the Wedding at Cana in John 2, seven days have passed with Jesus calling his disciples. Jesus and Mary function as the New Adam and the New Eve. Jesus calls Mary, his mother, "woman" here as he does again from the cross near the end of John's narrative.

One can BOTH have a savior and be sinless if prevented by grace from sinning.
there is no basis in scripture that you can find to back up the sinless Mary concept.
Why did Mary have to be without sin? If you think Jesus had to be born from a sinless woman, where did He get His humanity from?
That is, one can be saved BEFORE ever sinning.
in the case of a child before the age of accountability , yes, the child is saved in death but not after the age of accountability is reached.
Catholicism holds that God gave Mary a plenitude of grace. Eastern Orthodoxy calls Mary "panagia" - "All Holy."
As the bible is the word of God we are to look to God's word not to an institution/ organization / church group . for our knowledge. You just do not find a hint that Mary was somehow different from the rest of us.

YOU: The Bible is a Catholic book. It always was and always will be.
*ME: Nope. It was Greece that compiled the writings of the NT into One Book in the 4th century -- Greece was the Christian Center in the 4th century where Church Councils would meet and make decisions.* If anyone has the right to proclaim "we are the original Apostolic Church that compiled the Bible !!!" its the GREEK ORTHODOX, not the Roman Vatican.
And you might NOTE that the Roman Church, Greek Orthodox and Protestants all used the Textus Receptus (5000 ancient manuscripts) as the basis of their Bibles until the 1500's when the Roman Church changed the basis of their Bible (Douay Rheims) to the Alexandrian Bible which had been rejected by the Church for 1500 years. Gr Ortho and Prot still use the original Textus Receptus.

    • @Spiritof76Catholic
      @Spiritof76Catholic Před rokem

Yes. Catholic Christians, Jesus, used and guided his Catholic Church to compile under one cover the Word of God, Sacred Scripture the Holy Bible, all 73 books, 46 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books that we still have today. Before the inspired canon was settled in 419AD by Pope Innocent I there were at least 10 different lists of books and no agreement until the matter was taken up and settled by the Catholic Church at 5 different times at different Church synods and councils including the Synod of Rome, two Councils of Carthage and Hippo between 382 and 419AD. Do not be deceived by what protestant trolls 🧌say twisting scripture, 2Pet3:16 or history and whose only purpose is to damage your faith in Jesus, his Church and ruin your souls. Read about Sacred Scripture in the Catechism, at New Advent Catholic Encyclopedia or any good Catholic page. “Do not” believe anything from heretical sources who despise Jesus and his Church. Remember Jesus came “to fulfill”, “not to abolish”, “the law and the prophets”, Mat17:20. Therefore Jesus established the one holy catholic and apostolic Catholic Church, Mat18:15-17, the universal Christian church on Peter first, Mat16:17:20, John21:15-17, then the Apostles and their successors, Mat18:18-19, Mat28:16-20. Jesus did not give any 16th century, fallible men the authority to divide his body the Church into thousands of error riddled denominations created by someone’s imagination. God bless you.

The typology of the Ark is not applied to Mary. It is clearly Christ.
It is the Ark on which the blood of atonement was shed, as Christ's--perfect sacrifice AND perfect altar--own blood was shed and lay on Him.
In the OT it is the Tabernacle and the Tent that is "overshadowed", not the Ark particularly. Which makes sense, as Mary carries the Ark of the New Covenant, Christ. The type of Mary could be argued as the tent or tabernacle. Which is a great honor no doubt, but the type of the Ark is reserved for Christ.
Finally, if the Woman of the Apocalypse is Mary, why does she "travail in the pains of Childbirth", the punishment of Eve for original sin? Either this is not Mary or this is an admission of her original sin, neither of which is compatible with the dogma of immaculate conception.
Dr. Pitre is an intelligent man, but it seems that he is only looking for the answers he wants to find.

No, the analogy described in video fits perfectly. The vessel is the ark in which are tables with old covenant placed and carried. The tables are inside and touch the ark from inside. The same for Lord Jesus - the new covenant (not only His blood is new covenant but He Himself is the new covenant). He was carried by His mother in her womb, in physical contact from inside. Tabernacle or tent did not touch the tables of old covenant. Your analogy is wrong.

The oldest-known text of a prayer to Mary is from around A.D. 250. It is in Greek, and calls Mary "Theotokos," which means "God-bearer." Catholics would know it from a Latin version called the "Sub tuum praesidium."
Beneath your tenderness of heart, we take refuge, O bearer of God. Do not despise our petitions amidst our troubles, but rescue us from dangers, O only pure one, only blessed one.
Oh Mother Mary be a mother to us now . Amen!
