My doctor diagnosed me with clinical depression about 5 years ago and prescribed me antidepressants which did help me get through the day but never lifted the depression. In the back of my mind I had always suspected that my depression was really a spiritual problem because around this time I was guilty of mortal sin and I had stopped going to mass. At the start of this year I got a real thirst and hunger for the Eucharist and started going back to weekly mass and then eventually on to daily mass and receiving the body of our Lord and I have to tell you its working miracles for me. I can feel the life and energy come back to me. I hope this helps someone else who maybe suffering from depression

I am fascinated by the passive voice of v.29. When the woman touched Jesus in faith, “power had gone out from him” as if Jesus wasn’t actively willing the cure of the woman. Rather, her humble faith seemed to impel the healing power which Jesus possessed to make her well. Like, all it takes is humble faith and admission of one’s nothingness for God to work in one’s favor. Pls comment. Thank you.

That's an interesting observation! He was Peter's scribe, and not himself an eyewitness of these events, at least not that we know. This Gospel, from what I understand reading the Church father's, was the scribe's compilation of Peter's homilies. It was read to Peter and he endorsed it, though many seem to think John Mark got events out of order, which could explain Luke's own statement in his prologue of his intent to present a more 'orderly' account, according the NAB translation, in his Gospel.

The Magdala Center in Migdal, Israel, has an incredible painting of this Gospel in the Duc In Altum Chapel. It's called "The Encounter" and the painter is Daniel Cariola. It has impacted many and the gift shop there has sold thousands of reprints. As my husband and I discussed the painting, it struck me that many women suffer from PCOS and endometriosis for years (12 years!) before proper diagnosis. Young women go to the doctor with symptoms and are put on birth control pills to manage the symptoms. The symptoms lessen but the underlying disease continues, frequently until the woman gets off the pill when she is ready to start her family. At this point, the underlying condition becomes evident, and the disease must be treated. Hence, the passage of 7 - 12 years. Proper training of young women to chart, and the training of more doctors to use them would help women so much! Amazing that the Catholic Church has the right spirit and logic behind her teachings if we are open to them! Thank you for this beautiful reflection on this Gospel.

Women representing all of us. Christ the bridegroom, we are the bride of Christ.
Girl who is dying, represents the bride of Christ, dying and without life. Jesus gives his bride life.
Blood represents life in Judaism. Woman with hammorage represents humanity. Without life. And gives her life. Jesus gives us life in every way.

The Mosaic Law declared a menstruating woman as unclean. (Leviticus 15:19-33) But this was only in a ceremonial sense. These laws served to teach respect for the sanctity of blood. (Leviticus 17:10-12) At the same time, the laws served to remind the Jewish nation that mankind is born in a sinful state and needs a redeemer.

TO THE CATHOLICS FROM GOD: JESUS IS NOT GOD. NOTICE WHEN JESUS REFERS TO HIMSELF AND GOD HE USES WORDS LIKE AS ONE, OURS, WE, US ETC., WHICH MEANS EMMANUEL GOD WITH US. GOD IS WITH AND IN JESUS, GOD IS WITH AND IN ME, GOD IS WITH AND IN ALL WHO LOVES AND OBEYS HIM, BUT THAT DON’T MAKE US GOD HIMSELF, THE TRINITY THREE PERSONS, ONE GOD. MOST SEE THIS THE WRONG WAY THEY THINK JESUS IS GOD, BUT JESUS SAID SO MANY THINGS CONTRARY TO THIS IN THESE VERSES. HE EXPLAINS HE’S NOT GOD, HE SAID APART FROM GOD HE CAN DO NOTHING JOHN 5:30, HE SAID HE AND THE FATHER ARE ONE JOHN 10:30, HE SAID WE CAN BE ONE WITH (THEM) JOHN 17:21-22, HE SAID WHY CALL HIM GOOD? NONE IS GOOD BUT ONE, THAT’S GOD MATTHEW 9:17, HE SAID HIS DOCTRINE IS NOT HIS, BUT GOD’S JOHN 7:16-18, AND SO MUCH MORE. WE MUST ALLOW GOD TO REMOVE THE BLINDNESS FROM OUR EYES, OR WE REMAIN LOST.
