Lancashire hotpot is made of scrag end of lamb cut into chops and layered with onions and thinly sliced potatoes... It's food of the gods....

I know your mindset ( don't understand it ), having worked extensively with Yorkies and Clogdancers I found they almost all thought the same. When cooked into a hotpot, stew , etc. It's really not noticed as pungent garlic, or foreign food as it was referred to. It's no wonder the British have such a poor reputation all over Europe where food is concerned , along with many other things.

My oh my, just look at the dynamic here, three men beavering away with a passion for the preparing and production of simple , traditional food as a woman looks on in disbelief and ignorance . She'd rather be out looking at hand bags.

Meat in stews wasn't browned in your grandmothers day. It was boiled from cold.
The stewing steak in proper Scouse is also boiled - and it's been that way forever.
You are colouring that meat for "presentation."
Do you think anyone was arsed about presentation in them days?
    Stop lying.
