Two handed tapping ala Stanley Jorden, Joe Satriani, and Francis Bubbletrousers sounds INSANE! But whats the best way to get into it? With this rad etude Uncle Ben created for YOU, of course!
You don't have to start learning insane pieces like Midnight or Day at the Beach to become a two handed tapper. In this video, i'll show you this great etude to practice, give you some ideas about tapping chords, plus hand over some vital technique tips to keep your tapping squeaky clean!

My step dad was trying to tell me that tapping is just flashy nonsense and I should stick to boxed pentatonic licks. My real dad shook his head and told me to see my uncle Ben. Thanks!
he's not your real dad, he can't tell you what to do!
You wouldn't expect your step dad and your dad to agree on anything, would you? 😁
Your poor mom !😢
Your uncle is correct in one sense.. It is what you make it. Flash and substance are on opposite sides of the coin
Thanks Uncle Ben, we love you. Thank you, The Internet.
That sounds quite cool.
My inner EVH is loving this!! You the man, Uncle Ben!
Tory Slusher
That guitar….. GOD, that’s gorgeous!
Thanks! I love it!
Bubble trousers is one sick tapper
Ahhh."Bach"
This Style/Flavor is for sure.. too Cool,
Thanks Uncle Ben, You are appreciated.
You're a legend Uncle Ben!!! Thank you for this beast of tune!
Definitely gonna tap that, thanks step tap uncle
Color coded. Pretty smart.
I love the tapsachord!
Home studio is looking great Uncle Ben! Commenting before I've watched all the way through, so apologies if this mentioned, but a compressor can be the secret sauce to making this technique sound the way you want it to.
Always upload right as I’m bout to sleep, always worth though.
Great job!!! This is an awesome lesson!!
Sounds awesome! Thank you again Ben!
Cheers Ben great lesson .
Awesome as always! Thank you ❤
Right on, Ben, thanks!
This was awesome, sounds so good
Sounds really good Ben
Thanks Uncle Ben! Great video ❤❤
This is super sweet and definitely something I want to learn. Thanks Uncle Ben.
So cool
thank you young man
This is so cool. I can't wait to get home, plug in my guitar and try this! TY
Love that tone. Delicious thanks Uncle Ben
Awesome! your new studio looks great too
St-Eller Mr eller
Thanks uncle Ben! Midnight is so cool, really fun to play, this is super fun too! Excited to learn it!
I look forward to this, Uncle Ben....
Much kudos on the tapping and the muting. Most guitarists definitely don't want 'that sock' wrapped around the neck. Right teenagers?
Really really useful, thanks😊
Time to use this technique to learn Atlas Novus by Scale the Summit!
You are a great teacher.
I have been waiting for something like this for ages! Thanks Uncle Ben!
Moo
Thanks Uncle Ben, keeping it real Harpsichord heaven, much luv
👍😍👍
love the vids uncle ben!
Cant wait to get home and give it a try... France Bubbletrousers is by far my all-time most favoritest tapper.
Nice etude DOOD! Castlevania vibes are strong!
Thank You DUDE!
I always tought this is complicated. Now I'm convinced it is! 😂 Thank you for all the fantastic content you put out,it is always a pleasure to listen and watch ( although most of the time difficult to play😂)!
Chris Broderick comes to mind when I think of two handed tapping but Jeff Watson was a pioneer.
That was so good! Helped me see tapping in a different way, I’ll definitely be watching this again with my guitar in hand! Thanks Uncle Ben 😉
Uncle Ben and dad Ben degros (old time skater)
Heh... my first two-hand tapping song that I learned with was also a Satch song: "Day at the Beach" (from "Flying In A Blue Dream").
I thought of Synister Gates' Master Class.
Don Lappin is my favorite tapping guitarist! You should check him out!
Badass thanks bud ...
super cool Ben! this sounds great, and probably much fun as an exercise, I'll totally give it a try. Thanks for this, also for talking about the soft capo, the muting, the tone, not let the notes bleed ... really all fantastic tips. Please make more videos like that, perhaps you can find a cool exercise on shredding and on sweeping too ? thanks again man.
Thanks! There’s a great sweep etude from like 2 weeks ago on my channel.
Tap-dance speed? Thanks tap-dad!
Nice I have been using this technique for some time now, yet a very cool and musical note choice/sequence! Will give it a try!
Ben is da man! 👍
Killer lesson Ben as always, cheers from all the way across the continent, Vancouver, Canada. Ed
I learned Scale the Summit’s “The Levitated” ages ago on my first 7 string, and what a masterclass in 2 hand tapping that was. I miss having a 7 string almost just to play that song
Why'd you get rid of it? Rent? Or annoyance with the differences?
@@TheBfutgreg that particular guitar had always been a Struggle to play, in one way or another - i just wasn’t getting along with it
Very nice!
Joe Satch Day at the Beach and Midnight are awesome pieces of 2 handed tapping music

Damn. That was dope.
Very nice.
That Gypsy Hook 5:52 is brilliant, showed you can do this stuff in any style. Im gonna do some Gysy stuff with that, great ideas Ben.
@10:12 : Mind blowing tips !! awesome Maetro
EXCELLENT.
The last few etudes really made we want Yingyang Milkshake to be my stepdad :)
No seriously, Thanks Uncle Ben, I have enjoyed the etudes alot and it helped me advance my playing!
Glad to hear! It makes learning a LOT more fun.
So cool
This reminds me of that two-hand tapping rendition of Tubular Bells you did way back! Never quite mastered that one haha
Try playing Bach’s d minor Toccata and Fugue this way.
Is Ben like,...a kajillionare? Love your work Ben.
Nicely done uncle Ben. You should sell that to a medieval TV show lol.
Nice lesson. Would love to see a lesson on how to play Midnight also. 🤘
Loudness - Rock'n'Roll Gypsy solo is a cool two handed tapping piece :p
Wow you can actually play the right hand notes cleanly with right amount of finger pressure. Usually when I see people trying it, their right hand hammers and pulls are severely lacking and muffled compared to the left hand
This was dope I always wondered about this stuff...in extreme metal writings iv heard this stuff used it sounds bonkers like I needed to be able to but never had a breakdown like this one 😊so solid
That was hilarious. Ben, tapping that ass! Or your money back. Thanks for this lesson, bro.
Thx! My whole upper body hurts now. Great stuff!
I see for this little ditty, you invoked the Power of Petrucci! 😛
Must say again, great teacher and player Ben is!
Nice!
This sounds really cool! The best I can do is Return of the Giant Hogweed.
Whoa a great pattern, you could play the harpsichord parts on In My Life, Love Is Blue, What’s New, Pussycat?
Amazing..🤘🖤
More neoclassical please
Thank you
satch is such power saying rock on from singapore
Funny you said Stanley Jordan first, cause this reminded my of him as you were playing it. Was amazed the first time I saw him.
Glad you mentioned what kind of effects you were running. I was thinking with something like this, it would be nice to know how you're getting that sound. Like....what's your volume / tone at on the guitar along with which pick-ups, etc. Just those small details that really help folks starting off how to get those sustains when you're tapping as oppose to using a pick
Sweet
I don't like practicing tapping, but this stuff is 🔥
Uncle Bach!
I’m a shredder (see my videos) but I’ve never really been very good at tapping, I can do it but I’ve always preferred to keep my hands on the guitar and holding the pick
googled "How to Castelvania OST" and got sent here, thank you internet music man
*UNCLE BEN!*
HI
The coolest tapping riff I've ever heard is symphony x - sea of lies.
So good!!!
Now I have to play Castlevania.
I've only got acoustic guitars but wonderd if it's possible to tap an electric bass, I'l;l give it a go. Thanks for the video Unc!
It absolutely is. Look up Stu Hamm playing moonlight sonata or Linus and Lucy.
@@BenEller and John Ferrara from Consider the Source!
Holyshit!!
I miss Dave’s Stranger
BEN ELLER, is this called Alberti Bass or broken figure? most classical broken figures in the left hand are 1-3-5 or 1-b3-5 the way your broken figure is the bass hand is 1 while the right hand is going the 5-8 octave and then the bass hand does the 3rd while the does right hand 5th to octave then the bass hand does the 5th while the right hand does the 5th to octave.
I can't see how you haven't already seen his work but just in case, check out Dan Mumm.
hey Ben just wondering what you think of the Luke 3. very hard to get in Ireland. great video thanks
Absolutely lovely guitars!!! I adore mine.
I have a full video about this guitar after I got it. Late 2021 I think?
Before I watch the video, three words:
Buckethead
🤘🏾
👍👍👍
Wow....I'm right handed and didn't realized how uncoordinated my right fingers are! I can do kind of complicated, fast tapping with my left hand doing most of the work, but reversing that is so damn awkward. I'm having to just practice tapping on my desk with the pattern to try to speed things up!
