David Fincher directs the life-long journey of pro football players LaDainian Tomlinson and Troy Polamalu as their destinies collide in an NFL football game.
Man (DeeJayRoyal T2) you captured my sentiment/feelings exactly! Still gives me chills too!!! Love this commercial for life! However, I don't know if it is the "Best Nike commercial ever." Michael Jordan's 1999 Nike Commercial is (in my humble opinion) the Best Nike commercial ever. Check it out czcams.com/video/FZSYD5OYSqc/video.html
My favorite part of this commercial is how LT is always running to the right of the camera, and Polamalu is always moving to the left, even when they’re kids, they’re always on a collision course since birth
About once or twice a year, I watch this commercial. For me it is less of a commercial and more of a story of two lives intersecting with the same goal in mind. For some reason it makes my eyes water because of the beauty and simplicity of the vision along with music. It also speaks to me about hard work, dedication, and destiny. David Fincher.... great job and thank you! You truly made an unforgettable piece here...
It’s 2023 and here I am, still getting the same goosebumps I did when this commercial fist aired. Truth be told, I watch this commercial a few times a year because it’s that good.
@@blakeinchcombe1948 11 months later from your reply on January 9th 2021 at 1:28 AM, while currently recovering from COVID-19, I whole-heartedly continue to agree.
The song is called "The Ecstasy of Gold" written by Ennio Morricone and is from the 1967 film "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly". For me, the most powerful song in a movie ever.
At first when I saw this commercial I had to fight back the emotion that welled up. I'm sure many guys can relate to the magic of being a kid and the journey that life takes you on. To me Nike couldn't find two better warriors than LT and TP for this. Pure class. Well done. Much respect to everyone here who has a journey like this of their own. I for sure can relate.
Man this commercial makes me cry every single time! When they show LT make that cut into the hallway and Polamalu running up the bleachers and Just remembering how ridiculously good they were on the field at there positions! Easily the best commercial ever #Nike
Damn i miss these days. LT, Merriman, Gates, Cromartie and the rest. These were the days when we had our shot, but corruption and poor leadership led us astray. We were picked to win it all over and over :( Still, I love my chargers
Just FYI...Metallica has an aweome cover of this song. "Ecstasy of Gold" It was originally from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly at the end while Tuco is running around the cemetery looking for the grave with the gold.
My favorite part is the lil touch of the timing of the music when Troy stomps the table. As you see they grow up showing who they'll be. Lt is a kid runnin n jukin to class. But Troy of u watch n listen his scenes sync up with the music more as he just basically destroy n hit things as a kid and player, with the music timed up. It shows his instincts he had when he played if u ever watched Troy play over the years. I miss 43.
Football as art. Genius. I love the premise of deconstructing the quintessential tackle into the series of events, circumstances, and effort set in motion two decades prior. Everything, including the lives of these two men, are a prelude to this one, brief instance of perfection.
We love sports because every time we observe struggle and triumph, it resonates with the cells in our bodies. Those same cells have struggled and triumphed throughout millions of years of evolution to bring us to where we are now. We love to see fight, we love to see determination and we love to see other living things overcome the odds. It's who We Are and it epitomizes life itself.
Phillip Rivers tosses him the ball...Antonio Gates helps him up...Quentin Jammer moves outta the way from the sideline...commercial was on point awesome
Coolest part is they show both of them in their college "road" jerseys. Prolly tcu getting ready to face texas and usc preparing for Notre Dame. Bad Ass!!
+mbriz24 you know what's funny if you truly follow that logic is the possibility that the reality was the commercial was being scripted and the took it to the editor and asked what team should they be playing and it had to go by nikes owner and they said "....go ducks." And ended the conference call. Lol yea I know I went down a weird rabbit hole with that but it's just funny if you think about it.
#21⚡LT SD/LA This commercial inspired to train to make my high school football team as the running back and I did💪,but realized after my freshman season I enjoyed it but I didn't love the game, but it was a hard but sometimes fun experience 🌴🏈
That what we do here in the cold. We adapt which is why I still believe players that play or were raised in cold weather climates are typically tougher physically but more importantly mentally.
Commercial gave me chills for the 1st time ever and I believe its mostly bc now I am a father since last seeing this a few years back. The part that gave chills was when they both make contact and then they show them as kids again. It was one of those moments where I can see my kid doing this for a living when he grows up but at the same time i dont want to even think of him growing up yet lol.weird but real.
They don’t make commercials like this anymore. I miss when commercials made you want to run through a brick wall
This!! 😂😂
It's because people like David Fincher don't make commercials anymore
Best Nike commercial ever. Still gives me chills after all these years.

Epic. Just epic. One of the top sports commercials of all time.
Amazing commercial. I think one of the best ever. Certainly one of the most underrated.
Just masterful and straightforward storytelling. Still one of Nikes best.
Still the greatest nike commercial I've ever seen
used to watch this when I was a kid for football motivation now I do the same for my life and my career great video!
Still the greatest commercial I've ever seen. Fincher told a story in 60 seconds with no dialogue.

Wow... Crazy that both of their careers are over.
I love the part where they fall as little kids again, laughing. So f'ing awesome :)
Lt is moving in one direction (to the right) and Polamalu is the opposite. Until they finally collide. Very cool.
13 years later and I still have to watch this at least 3 times a week. I freaking love polamalu! The best strong safety in NFL history!
7 years later and still the best commercial out there

Nike has created countless legendary inspirations, but this one stands alone. It's the GOAT of all Nike ads.
This made me cry man. Made me miss my childhood for some reason. I love this commercial

Best part, LTs pat on Pulamulu's helmet & Palamulu nodding to LT after tackle... Gates coming in to help LT. Tiniest details went into this commercial
Two of the most humble players to ever play the game. Respect.
The thought process and dedication to detail really made this commercial something we will never forget 👍🏽

This is the chargers year this year! We back to that old hope we used to have!
