I prefer this Current version, better control of her voice and movements. This song reminds me "Henry lee" By NIck Cave, and I don't know why.
I love this version, but the Nidarosdomen version blows this away.

If you want to hear something powerful I recommend Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1) at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert and Under the Water (live on the Honda Stage) and The Seed (live at HAIK Concert) is a super powerful song, with great vocals and a great message!

First heard her on The Howard Stern Show of all places 4-5 years ago. He heard her rendition of Life on Mars on the show Girls and had to talk to her about it. Was a great interview with a wonderfully free spirited Aurora. Been hooked ever since, she is a wonderful entertainer.
She cuts her own hair and she's very true to herself! She doesn't care what anybody says about her and that's what Aurora is all about, genuinely care about environment, where most of her music has something to do about it. She writes most of her songs with some minimal collaboration from other writers. She has control of the production and if you'll listen closely to her lyrics, you'll find they're deep, not your run of the mill type. When she performs live thats how you'll appreciater her expressiveness, her face expressions, the arms movements is like painting a picture of what she's singing about and she's feeling the music she composed and her body movements reflects. Btw, she's very funny too!
She is currently 23, she produces her work, writes her songs, plays piano and harp. She is very talented human bean 😊
I discovered her in 2017 by watching a live recorded "conqueror" on Jimmy Fallon. WOW. I will tell you what she is about. She is a Viking. She even said so during an interview on a german radio station. She is from the area of Norway where the major staging sites for the attacks (back in the day). She is so honest it is amazing. She has been writing since 9 years old and performing songs by 15. Her manager in a video I watched, stated that Aurora brought 90% of the whole effort that leads to the release of her music. She has a hand in everything and does it supremely well. Gifted genius is my opinion. Her voice is so addictive as a balm to the soul, I bet her existence actually has saved people from self destruction. Yeah I think I love everything about her.
I ageee- she is a divine musical being brought to earth to move humanity forward. I “discovered” her about 6 months ago and I am so in love with her music lyrics vocals arrangements costumes videos - EVERYTHING.

From the age of 6 she was putting together melodies on a Brocken piano which she taught herself to play,by the age of 9 she was writing lyrics.to songs that are unbelievable.but when you are brought up in a household where the songs of Bob Dylan and Lenard Cohan both amazing wordsmiths you will understand why this young lady stands out as an artist and songwriter.but if you really want to see aurora perform live you have to watch the Christmas concert at the Nidarosdomen cathedral in Norway.i promise you it will give you goosebumps on top of your goosebumps the whole production, sound, will be something you will go back and listen to time and time again,yes I'm what you might call a fan even though I don't really like the term I just love and appreciate music and at the age of 63 I have seen my far share of artists but this young lady at the tender age of 23 is the best I have ever seen,I've seen her live and I was captivated by the genuineness and love for everyone there so humble and at times so shy as if she did not know how good she is,she is a truly special human with a gift that we are privileged to hear.enjoy aurora and like she says in one of her songs,let love conquer your mind for we exist for love.❤️🍏❤️🍏
Great reaction. Aurora isnt like other artists (she doesnt have to use a lot of power in her voice to impress, as for some reason seems important for a lot of people). She shouldnt really be compared to anyone, cause she is so unique. Her voice, her presence, her songwriting etc. She also writes songs that has a deeper meaning.
If you react to her song «Lucky» (react to the one from Nidarosdomen), she wrote that song when she was 9 (yes, she did!) «Runaway» (her break through song internationally) she wrote when she was 11. «I went too far» when shew as 12. She wrote other songs when she was between 14-16, so a lot of her songs from th first album were written in her teens. She is involved in the production herself together with Magnus Skylstad (her drummer) and Odd Martin Skålnes (O.Martin) her previous guitar player (the one who plays with her at The Nobel Peace Price concert fex). You should react to all of her performances from the Haik-concert. A concert in the forest close to where she grew up (the choice of place was a surprise to Aurora...she loves nature, animals, insects etc so it was very fittng). That concert is amazing, well, so is all her concerts/performances (but that one is magical). So is the concert in Nidarosdomen (an old Cathedral in Trondheim, Norway, built between 1070-1300)
A fun fact is that her two sisters are very involved in her career and on tour. Victoria is a clothes-designer and makes all her stage- and music video-outfits (and most clothes she wears). Miranda is a make-up artist and does her make-up and face-painting. Aurora makes her jewellery/head pieces etc herself and cuts her own hair 😉

Aurora is born 15 June 1996, so that makes her 24, 25 this year I guess?
That performance is of a record she made in 2018, could be from 2019.
She wrote some now famous songs when she was very young:
"Songs such as Running with the Wolves, I Went Too Far and Runaway were written in this early stage of her life, with Runaway being written when she was 12"
You're totally right about her backup singer. Wow. It takes talent to really just let someone else shine and take their vision and run with it. She just wrapped her in harmony, over and under. All while just being very, very complimentary, and not competitive, if that makes sense.

She does write all her songs. And has a hand in the production. Her live performances are what made me love her. One that stands out is Murder Song at the Nobel Piece Prize Concert. Its 5 years old but shows a piece of the power in her voice.

this is my all time favorite Aurora live performance.. so glad you choose to react to this one! I think you should listen to her NPR tiny desk concert at some point. It's from 2015, which is when her first EP was released. She's only gotten better with time, but I still think its important to hear the songs that started her career.

Her accompanist is Silja Sol, another Norwegian singer. They are a phenomenal vocal duo, and have been touring together for a number of years. She does write her own songs - in fact, she writes so many that a lot don't even have music. She even has stated that she has two albums worth of songs that she wants to be released after she dies... because she's that strange and endearing. She's a weird little Ravenclaw. She definitely does go more hardcore with her power voice, but it's mostly when she performs "angrier" songs - usually about environmental or world issues. They are some of my favorites of hers - you should look up/react to "The Seed" and "Running with the Wolves" for examples of these. Her angrier songs are a bit heavier instrumentally, too. Kinda reminds me of Florence Welch.
Silja also puts out her own music, more techno oriented with Norwegian vocals.
Aurora is 23, turning 24 on June 15th! And as far as I know, she writes all if her songs, some of her greatest ones (in my opinion) were from when she was about 9

Aurora is an amazing artist, totally unique. This is the artist that made Billie Eilish who she is today. Watching the video Runaway of Aurora, she decided that music was what she wanted to do. You have to listen - The seed, Warrior (live at haik) and God is a woman (Ariana Grande cover).

I want to recommend another amazing female artist Kokia, please react to her song "Chouwa Oto" live from History concert tour 2012, or song "Il Mare Dei Suoni" from the same concert if you want to hear her operatic vocal, Kokia has classical and operatic music education, but only in few songs she singing more operatic, and she is also songwriter, composer, arranger and producer, also playing on piano.

I seriously felt the same way as you! "How did I not know??? 😭😭". However, now we have all this content from her and it is magical! Watch some of her interviews, as well, as she is also hilarious! I would recommend something but everything is soooo good!!

It possibly talks about rape and revenge, but this depends on the person who listens to the song, since AURORA stated that the songs of this album can have different meanings to everyone depending on how deep you dive in them.
The meaning of it happened quiet.
This, to me, is a masterpiece of counterpoint. The first time you hear it the imagery draws you in as if its a wonderful scene of gentle love. But then there are hints of something darker and on the last line it becomes clear something terrible happened and you need to go back over each line and piece it together. This is my interpretation:
"Eyes blue and hollow" The eyes of a lover turned murderer trying not to have feelings or even be fully aware of what he is doing
"As it rains against their will" But of course, he does know and he is crying
"Feathers falling out of a pillow - As if time's standing still" Sounds so light and magical - an ultimate counterpoint to the violence of the reality. The violence that causes the feathers to come out of the pillow. But you don't question this at first.
"I can't remember much more. But I know it happened quiet. So quiet " Trauma blanks out her consciousness but she knows he is being careful, secretive, trying to hide - even from himself.
"Words falling out through the window. All that remains is a silent call. Is the earth colored red? As I land like a flower on the meadow. Love is wild " Again, as a counter point, using this distant or other worldly view of the violent scene to make it sound, at first hearing, like something beautiful is happening. But he threw her out of the window and she lands outside in her own blood.
"You fell apart, Like a stone can be broken into sand, All thousand pieces* Spread across a crying land" Once he realized what he's done his sanity completely breaks down into tiny pieces.
"And you can't remember that day. But you know it happened quiet. So quiet" So now he feels the trauma and blanks it out himself.
*** Here the spooky singing - oooooo's announce the return of her spirit **
"Are your dreams as dead as they seem? Are your dreams as dead as they seem? " So now her voice, from out of death, asks him to face what he did, destroyed what he loved
"Don't you speak over my voice. I will return from the shadows. And I'll bleed in your bed, Turn it red, Like the ground outside your window. Love is wild" She tells him not to try and talk or think his way out of it. Threatening to return from death and bleed right in his bed! Defining, with the last lines, what the red was outside his window and therefore what really happened that day.

And Aurora? I've never been obsessed by someone famous... it happened to me with Aurora a lillte bit. She is beautiful and very special person as you can see in many of her interviews and performances.
My probably the most favourite performances of her are Live in KEXP from 2018 and from Glastonbury 2016.

Her producer is Deca record... she almost produce herself, she direct her ultimate VM "exist for love" song that she wroted in 2017, but she showed to us now few weeks ago, her make up artist is her older sister, and her disegner clothes is her another older sister.
Judging by her hair, she's probably between 21 and 23 in this video. Yes, she writes all her own music, whenever she's not covering another artist, and her producer claims that she's "hard to work with" because she wants so much creative control over the production. The guitarplayer/backup singer is Silja Sol.
EDIT: Oh, and many of her songs were written by her at the age of 11/13 years.

Yes It Happened Quiet is an original, she write music and Lyrics, she is not only fully invested in the producing process, she is the director of it too, as it is said in many comments below, she started young to write music even if her career started at 16/17 yo, she has written a song like "Lucky" at age 9, or "Runaway" at 11 yo, all her originals from her first LP "All my Demons are greeting me as a Friend" has been written between age 9 to 17.

If you want to hear the power of her voice, I recomend the same song, but the performance in Nidarosdomen. It's so powerfull that made me cry. The one you reacting to is so soft and calm in comparising.
